Already publicized. Sean M. Higgins.
Just so sad, all around.

Yea the guy is ruined. You don’t come back from this. Hopefully he’s just a terrible person outside of this lol, makes it 1/10000th of a percent less tragic

I've been trying to work that out. All it said was that they were traveling the same direction as the car that hit them. So, were they on the opposite side? Or, did he pass and then swing too far back over? Regardless, just a horrible, tragic event for that family.

I read they were hit from behind. He passed someone and then the new car in front of him gave the bikes a wide berth and he went to pass that person on the right.

RIP Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau, gone way too soon due to a senseless and avoidable tragedy.

Unfathomable news like this kind of puts all of our petty arguments that have gone here into perspective....

It does.
A co-worker of mine just lost his 16 year-old nephew in the same manner a month ago. Simply awful.

The story of what happened at the University of Delaware is pretty unfathomable as well

Wonder if CBJ will retire #13 after this. They probably should as a way to remember him for years to come.

Preventable situations like these are the most infuriating. The multiple, selfish decisions of this man cost wives their husbands, kids their father, parents their sons and all the future they had.
Nice, mean, sociopathic or not is not truly important. What is, are the lives affected. For too often people burden others with their own selfish, emotional issues. And in this situation, cost the lives of two people, which was 100% preventable.

My comment regarding whether he’s a sociopath or not was only referencing another comment regarding his punishment. I was making the point that on top of whatever legal consequences he faces, he will be psychologically broken for life (unless he’s a sociopath). Ultimately, from the perspective of the victims families and friends none of that matters, obviously

If you've seen the video of him letting out an exasperated sigh today when told he's being held until Thursday you probably have the answer to your question.

It wasn't my question. I'm not overly concerned with the guy. It's just a senseless tragedy and sucks for everyone. The last sentence in my previous post is the relevant part to me. Really not much more to be said.

I wasn't making a negative comment or jab to you. Honestly. That is not how I operate. I was merely making a point on how much a I hate preventable situations like these.

During Higgins’ court appearance, Judge Michael J. Silvanio said the charges against him are punishable by a maximum of 10 years in New Jersey state prison.

I’m so very confused about why every team isn’t deferring payments like this

I expect big market teams - aka the Rangers - to use it. My first thought was Laf, but Igor as well.

Its still cap circumvention. I expect this loophole to be closed in the next CBA, especially if the Rangers take advantage of it....

I agree it is cap circumvention. I feel like the deferred payments should still count against the cap, even if in the years they are no longer under contract (so a lower hit now but they forfeit cap in the future). The Jarvis contract isn’t that egregious IMO, only about half a million a year savings. I saw an extreme example for Draisaitl where he could get essentially 14M a year but only 10M in cap hit. That would be ridiculous.
