We wish, we've only seen the 2nd round once.
But honestly, as a canucks fan...come on.....you really cant insult most teams.

A lot of the cap going to 3 or 4 players including Darnell Nurse.

I seriously had huge doubts, and I'm happy to be wrong. Hopefully he can live up to that contract (and back check a little more! Haha)

What makes you say that? Leon scores more goals and is a better playoff performer.

I think the tandem of Crosby Malkin is MUCH better than Draisaitl McDavid because of their defensive games. Ranked 1 to 4 in terms of a complete 200ft game...

1. Crosby
2. Crosby
3. Crosby
4. Malkin

Haha

But offensively, our Oilers boys are right there with them. Hopefully losing game 7 in the final teaches them something.

in the next 2 years we could see Mcdavid, Makar, Kucherov, Kaprizov, Rantanen, Hughes, Marner, Bouchard, Bedard, Shesterkin, Ullmark, Swayman and Demko break the bank.

McDavid 16 mil
Drai 14 mil
Bouchard 9 mil
Nurse 9 mil
Hymen and Flopkins 10 mil
58 mil for 6 players
The window is the next 2 years. Skinners going to need more $, same as Ekholm

Keep your doom and gloom over in the Flames thread where it belongs. Happy times in Oilerville.

Malkin's prime was not that long ago and not really part of the "lower scoring era".
- Fakepartofme

From 2008 - 2017 (Malkin’s offensive prime) there were 15 100 point scorers. There were 11 in 2023 alone…but yeah “iTs NoT a LoWeR sCoRiNg era”

Will be HE-double-hockeysticks to manage for sure, but 10 mil for RNH and Hyman is crazy good use of the coin. RNH has 171 points in 162 games over the last 2 seasons, 33 paints in 37 PO games. Hyman is 160 points in 159 games, 90 of those goals. Also 33 in 37 in the PO's.

Nurse and Bouchard eating up over 18 mil, not so good of a deal. Oil almost have to win the cup this year.

I dont believe Eklholm gets a big raise on his next contract, if any. He will be 36, I could see a 5.5m per x 3 years.

Agree. Hymen is a great contract. Nugent doesn’t drive play. Nurse is a disaster in his own end and it looks like his new partner is Stetcher. Bouchard can provide a lot of offence, he’s worth the investment.Skinner proved he can play when given the support, he’s going to need more dough. Cap will go up, but it’s a fine line to balance and add complementary players.

Actually, as dysfunctional as the Canucks were under Jim Benning, there’s a number of teams we can insult, the Leafs & Oilers being two of them.

If you look way down at the bottom, next to the league doormats, you’ll find the Leafs.

I think saying this was a huge win shows your complete lack of hockey knowledge.
Combined with your complete lack of writing skills, "it was never a matter of it"? It's no wonder the only writing gig you can get is on a dead website. Anyone who thinks this was good needs to get their head out of their ass. How do we ever plan on winning anything as a team when Drai is making 14 mil. I am sure we will resign McDavid to MORE than that and that's, let me do the math for you folks, close to 30 mil, or close to ONE THIRD of our salary cap on 2 players. This isn't basketball, we can't win with 2 very talented players. These guys clearly have no desire to win a cup, Drai clearly doesn't want to win anything because he would realize taking such a large cap hit ISN'T A RECIPE FOR SUCCESS. If he wasn't such a greedy bumhole he could take 10 mil, which is still more than he will ever need in his life, and that leaves 4 mil to add someone decent around him.

It never ceases to amaze me how many people on here expect professional athletes to take drastic pay cuts to help their team win. Like, biatch, you wouldn't turn down a $2k raise at your job, but you expect athletes to turn down literal millions?!?! Sure, winning a cup has to be pretty darn cool... Buuuuuut, you have an opportunity to build literal life changing generational wealth. Sorry, but I don't fault anyone for doing what's best for themselves.

He doesn’t get paid until next year. Two years for McDavid. If they don’t win the cup by then it’s more on management than those two players.
