It’s a problem when you pay a guy on potential….and that potential is never reached.

Edmonton has been doing this for along time. Taylor Hall probably has a better career and stays with Edmonton if they don’t over pay Ryan Nuggent-Hopkins, and Jordan Eberle early in their careers.

My guess and it's just a guess. I think it has to do with Johansen not being willing to accept the treatment prescribed in an attempt to drag out the situation and get paid without having to play. The Flyers don't want to pay someone 4M when he is not genuinely attempting to get healthy to play

I think Johansen made a reasonable offer to a team that’s on the road to nowhere and thin at center. He was willing to play for the Flyers and leave his history with Torts in the past. The Flyers “heard” he was a jerk and treated him as a jerk based on what they heard. Johansen reacted according to this. I understand RJ isn’t apart of any future plans but none of the Flyers future plans are immediate at this point.

I can almost promise a team like the Chicago Blackhawks just simply plays him.

Chicago who is almost 7 mill under the cap with a better prospect pool than the Flyers.

What are they thinking of not following the Flyers model of spending to the cap every year that has led to so much success.

Think how much they are hurting Bedard's career by not playing him with better players, thankfully the Flyers are saving Michkov from that horrible fate.

The Hawks just seem more self aware in their rebuild and don’t care to win right now.

I’m not talking about moving forward. I’m talking about the moment RJ got here.

I do not believe they will keep all those picks in the 2025 draft. No issue with that at all depending on how they use them.

Also think it is also them kicking the can down the road saying 2025 is a big draft for the flyers. just take some of the spotlight off for a bit. then they may say 2026 is even bigger or what not or if they trade some early 2025 picks.

I think the Flyers do think it’s a deep draft because it’s deep in the QMJHL. There haven’t been this many highly rated QMJHL prospects since 2001.

It brings a tear to my eye to see such good buddies getting along in their common ground of misery!

One of the reasons given but I believe that was a smoke screen.

The Flyers will be in a worse cap situation next year with having to re-sign York, Foerster, Frost and Cates. They get some help with the Angelo buyout and the Petersen buried cap hit coming off.

You seem to be forgetting that the cap will be rising significantly over the next few years and will most likely top the 100 million mark in a couple of seasons. But wait, that could indicate some light at the end of the tunnel. Nah, it's just a freight train comin your way! Eh what?

You seem to not have a basic understanding of math. When you have 4 players who are due significant raises that will out pace the amount of cap space coming off your cap, you have a worse cap situation. You seem to think that the cap raising will outpace the Flyers poor cap management and players salaries increasing. It won't. It never has.

You can continue to live in the fantasy land that live you in if you choose two. You are the "Dorothy" of Flyers fans. Tapping your toes together 3 times and wishing the Flyers will actually become something.

It was a fantasy and "hope" is not likely to make the Flyers a Cup contender. Didn't think I would have to explain that.
