- conditioning was not a problem in any way

- they were a very healthy team last season. that wasnt an issue.

- you have no idea sam wont play the majority. the ivan is a total unknown.

- the flyers D is thin and not very good. no one is capable of picking up the slack for york and sanheim.

- what does mm have to do with them not running out of gas? perhaps he will "run out of gas" after a long 1st season under torts.

- no there really isnt a lot that will be different. would love to hear what a lot will be different involves.

- hello it's me 2050

How was injury not an issue? Couturier who is a core part of the forward group was hurt for half a season. Drysdale played a whole 34 games, Hart left the team. Ristolainen and Seeler also missed time. Couturier should have been shutdown IMO. He was beyond awful in that 2nd half. A completely different player

Dont forget Walker was moved as well, he was a pretty big part of the D and we moved him when injuries struck the D.

I wrote MM because he was added to the team. His skill will help the team be better even as a rookie.

I am talking about youth hockey. not a men's ball hockey league.
- hello it's me 2050
Ball hockey isnt strictly for men. My league has Youth, Women and Coed leagues too. CoEd seems redundant though as women play in the mens league, just without any of the dumb rules. You need 2 Women on the floor at all times and men can only score 3 goals per game.

They ran out of gas. Ersson played 80% of the final 35 games, his play was a big reason for the fall. They didnt play all that badly during the strech. You could see some guys were out of gas and hurt but overall they couldnt get a save. Any defensive lapse was being converted on. They will be a bubble team again and I think they make it this year. They have a very lax April schedule too. If they do make it they could be trouble for their opponents. I think I read they play a whole 2 games in April. They will be fairly rested. Just have to survive a 16 game March.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

When has an NHL team ever played only two games in April. The structure of the schedule is the same as every year. The Flyers play 6 games in April. In order for the Flyers to make the playoffs, a good number of other teams need to struggle. Every team with the exception of Columbus in the Metro is as good or better than the Flyers. I give the Caps an edge over the Flyers.

Better conditioning for one. It is no different than a rookie getting used to an 82 game season. Torts bag skate to start camp wont be as exhausting as theyve been through it before

Guys will be healthy

Ersson wont be playing almost every game

Perhaps Sanheim and Yourk wont need to be overplayed every game

Young players hopefully taking a step further in their development

Michkov

Theres a lot that willl be different.

They aren't going to gain an edge with conditioning. They already were one of the best conditioned teams in the league coming out of camp. That's why they had an edge. The Flyers were playing with playoff level intensity from the opening game. That's why they ran out of gas. There is going to be a lot different with other teams also. Mainly NJ. If you're expecting Michkov to be the savior at this point in time, be prepared to be disappointed. Flyers making the playoffs would be a disaster for this franchise.

the overall health of the team was not an issue. every team deals with an injury or two. just more lame bs excuses.

they are just not that good a team is the real issue. go flyers.

to play tier 1 hockey in the USA is a sickening cost. Has to be by far the most expensive out of the 4 major ones.

Minny does it right to a big extent. They keep the kids in the state. Their programs are high quality; they don't travel all over the country for the most part. High school hockey there is very good. Unlike here in PA.

- hello it's me 2050

True. The exception is bantam teams playing in a national tournament. My gramps played against Minnesota legend John Mayasich. He said Mayasich wore his sister’s figure skates until high school when a guy came back from the service and donated his skates to him. Even then it was tough money wise.

Lol. I have a friend whose kid played hockey until middle school. The guy isn’t hurting but still encouraged his kid to switch over to basketball. The kid now plays basketball.
- Minnyhock
Good for him. A cheap sport and an easy sport to play. I mean, if you can't play basketball you might as well take up Chess.

And they most likely will not make the playoffs this year, but I think they will be contention throughout the season and may sneak in if another team falters down the stretch. With Torts the Flyers will be a compettive team regardless, but if Michkov takes off and the PP gets better, the Flyers could be a playoff team. Of course this would be a bad thing and further cement the team into pergatory with no chance to add an elite player through the draft.
- jd250
Will be interesting to see how things go with Torts this year. It's his third year and this is when players may start tuning him out. If Michkov doesn't like him the players may ride with the new kid in town. It's just Torts...his bag skates and yelling eventually wears on everyone.

Did you or did you not have the Flyers penciled into a playoff spot before they crashed and burned at the end. My brain is on layaway... should have a new one by next week. Sorry bout that.
