This is fine, but it probably doesn't make Nicky Bobby a happy skater.
- Atomic Wedgie

it will make him work a little harder for that spot on the roster

He could be traded or.....someone else could.

But if Tre brought in Patch to replace Robertson.....Tre needs to be fired.
Now.

My gawd, what a national embarrassment he was last night.

Its official Patch has been invited to Leafs camp.

- Fakepartofme

Yeah and to think the country is still 50-50 with *that* guy. Unbelievable.

Was glad to see Kamala expose him as Putin's toady. In that conflict he was most concerned about Russia losing 300,000 troops. Unreal.

Good, (frank) that guy. If he loses to a one legged, one wristed old man, it's his fault.

He has a contract. Now he just has to work to prove that he deserves the role he wants and that he should be here. That said, Robertson had 14 goals in his last 56 games - playing almost exclusively at 5v5 with 11 minutes / game.

Pacioretty has 10 goals in his last 56 games spanning 3 years. You have to go back to February 18, 2022 to accumulate 14 goals for Max to date. Of course that was in 69 games and giving him 15 minutes / game, including 2:30 of power play time / game . . .

So if Robertson can't beat out a broken down 36 year old who has vanished into his own shadow over the past 2 years? That's probably on him.

I agree with this statement - on paper.

Sadly, for the last eleventyquillion years, the Leafs have favoured vets over kids.

"Yeah, but Patches has intangibles" is my biggest worry.

I HIGHLY doubt the plan was for Patch to be a Robertson replacement.

I think Tre has done a pretty solid job this offseason. It may completely blow up in his face if Woll gets injured and Stolarz stumbles, Tanev gets injured long term, Hakanpaa actually gets signed then the knee is an issue, OEL gets exposed on D, Robertson gets traded then scored 35 elsewhere, Marner strains his vagine, JT gets even slower, and Captain America forgets how to score

So Pacioretty is coming in on a PTO

Multiple NHL teams continue to show interest in James van Riemsdyk. He's one of the few remaining LW options available and is viewed as a high-character veteran that is expected to land a PTO before training camps open next week.

If the leafs do the oldies thing like they always do and it somehow ends up Pacioretty JVR and Knies as the top 9 LW I will not be pleased.

Agree with the above.
My worry is that the leafs brass seem to prefer vets over rookies. Id hate for old man Tre and Berube to want to play patch over Robertson.

I find it embarrassing that so many Leaf fans are so quick to criticize Marner when the world's best and often most highly regarded competitive players would love to have him on their team. If Marner was such a disappearing act I'm not sure O'Rielly or MacKinnon would speak so highly of him.

Now, noting once again because I always have to say this - that I do like Nylander - I've never heard anyone in the NHL talk up Nylander's skill as being elite - but we've all heard a significant number of the world's most respectable players say great things about Mitch.

Having never played to any degree close to where they are, you sort of have to defer to their knowledge and awareness.

I think we're all a little worried about it. I mean here's what I see for the team's depth chart:

So here's what I see going into Training tamp in terms of our depth:

Centre

Matthews (6'3 / 210)
Tavares (6'1 / 215)
Domi (5'10 / 195) ** (more of a LW, but can deploy RW/C/LW)
Kampf (6'2 / 200)
Holmberg (6'0 / 190) ** (more of a RW but can play C)
(pto) Lorentz (6'4 / 205)
Minten (6'2 / 195)
Pare (6'4 / 210)

Left Wing

Knies (6'2 / 210)
Robertson (5'9 / 180)
McMann (6'2 / 210)
Dewar (5'10 / 180)
(pto) Pacioretty (6'2 / 215)
Cowan (5'11 / 185)
Hirvonen (5'10 / 180)

Right Wing

Marner (6'0 / 180)
Nylander (6'0 / 205)
Jarnkrok (6'0 / 190)
Reaves (6'2 / 225)
Grebyonkin (6'2 / 190)

Right Defense

Tanev (6'2 / 195)
Liljegren (6'1 / 190)
Hakanpaa (6'7 / 225)
Timmins (6'2 / 200)
Myers (6'6 / 220)
Niemela (6'0 / 180)
Rifai (6'0 / 185)

Left Defense

Rielly (6'1 / 220)
McCabe (6'1 / 205)
Ekman-Larsson (6'2 / 200)
Benoit (6'3 / 205)
Webber (6'6 / 195)

Goalie

Woll (6'3 / 205)
Stolarz (6'6 / 240)
Murray (6'4 / 180)
Hildeby (6'7 / 225)
Akhtyamov (6'1 / 170)

. . . I mean I see more of a role for Lorentz stepping in and getting a contract from his PTO on this team than I do for Pacioretty.

I have absolutely no idea who Lorentz is, but he did play 2/3rds of Florida's playoff games last year.

So I guess that's something.

Averaging 7:07 a game, though.

So something, but not much.

With the Leafs probably running with a 22 man roster this year, I'd rather not load up our shopping cart with crap positioned right next to the cash register. Treliving needs to stick with the list his wife gave him.

MacKinnon wants to play in Toronto, and he's willing to take less to do it.

Plus he found a youth serum and is willing to inject it into Crosby the day after he signs a league min deal with the Leafs as a busted old man.

Has a player ever been less than complimentary of another fellow NHLer? Sounds to me like they're giving the standard cliche response.

The ONLY thing I care about is the playoffs, and the ONLY player that has consistently played well in them is Nylander.

That being said, I don't know WTF was up with Willy missing so many games last post-season. All in all this bunch has been very frustrating. But they're close...
