What else are they going to say when told they can't stick around and did Toews say he wanted no part of a rebuild? Either way they were given no say how it ended.

I'm not saying this was wrong I'm only proposing one explanation why you hear or see nothing from Toews.

Blackhawks legend Kevin Lankinen had signed a 1 year deal with the Canucks for $875,000.

Roger McQueen, Center (2025 eligible, Wiz #6) had four goals in the opening game for Brandon last night. Did not see the first one, but on the second he picked the top corner over the goalie's shoulder, 3rd was a quick rebound shot in the slot, and 4th was an EN goal from all the way down the ice.

McQueen is tall and rangy, and has ability to handle and control as well as an excellent shot. Likes to work in the left circle and behind the net. Did not see anything physical from him last night, but the game was kind of slow. Right now he is not at all like Cayden Lindstrom, but is more of a skill/finesse player. Was decent on draws, usually tied up but won a couple clean. Not playing top line now like most of the younger WHL guys. These notes are from only one period, so we will see how he does when the season really gets going. Offensive ability should land him in the top ten on draft day.

I didn't watch closely for how fast he was skating, but he was not usually the first one in. The announcers mentioned that they had brought over some speedier guys to carry in and then pass. He is able to find good receiving and shooting spots as the trailer.

Also has a lot of quickness and agility in the o-zone, and can find ways to make quick moves and get off a shot. Will be interesting to watch as the season goes on.

You're the Bamford of HB linking up the board with stuff, BM. Thank you........ Looks like Bamford is getting a look at Lardis besides clips. Indeed, watch him and you see how dangerous he has with a helluva burst/speed and the IQ to dart in and outa dangerous spots. Add the kid has a + shot and he scores every other game and he's a very interesting prospect.

And, watching the clip of Spellacy the kid's skating looks more balanced. I like how balanced/smooth he his turning to skate backwards and then back around to skating forward. ..... Seemed he was using his speed in a tactical manner as well instead of hells bells for 45 seconds.

We anxiously await to watch or read review of the prosoects during trading camp but I am just wondering whether we can judge one particular player 100% fairly

Oh I am fairly certain he gets to the NHL and could become a regular even on a third pair. He appears to have the skill, the smarts, leadership and plays a style necessary among the blueline corps. But since skating and getting in shape is a building up to effort throughout camp, this area of concern or criticism on DelMaestro may stand out. Actually I think if some of us watch him at Rockford and possibly in Chicago this year, we will determine that his skating is ok acceptable

Other than alliteration, Yeti kind of sucks too. Don't know about you but Utah doesn't really conjure thoughts of Bigfoot or the Abominable Snowman, but from a marketing standpoint that one likely wins out.

On another note, this was in The Athletic this am from Powers...

Nick Lardis isn’t making the Chicago Blackhawks out of camp. The Blackhawks aren’t selling him false hope, and he understands his reality.

But when it comes to the future, no player may have done as much to build expectations as Lardis in recent weeks. What Lardis has shown with his shot, quickness and hockey IQ in the last two weeks has Chicago management even more excited for his eventual NHL arrival.

Outside of Connor Bedard, the 19-year-old Lardis may be the Blackhawks’ best bet for an elite goal scorer in the years to come. As much hype as Frank Nazar, Oliver Moore and other prospects have been creating, most of them would lean more toward playmakers than goal scorers. Lardis is a pure goal scorer.

Lardis is coming off a season in which he scored 29 goals in 37 regular-season OHL games and another four goals in six playoff games. Those goal numbers would have been much higher if it weren’t for a wrist injury. He should compete for an OHL goal-scoring title this season.

In recent weeks, Lardis has made the case that his offensive ability could translate to the NHL level. He scored a goal off a one-timer and had another scoring chance while playing with a stomach bug at the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase. He’s followed that up with a noticeable training camp while playing alongside Nazar and Colton Dach on a line.

Lardis is well aware of where he needs to score goals if he’s going to succeed in the NHL.

“I think just keeping doing what I’m doing in junior, but I think it’s important for me to kind of learn the habits more, just kind of getting to the net,” Lardis said. “I think like 85 percent of the goals are scored right around the crease, so it’s important for me to get to the net. I thought in the first scrimmage I did that and got rewarded there, too. I just want to keep continuing to do that more and kind of have that as a habit in my game.”

Thanks for posting. And from the same Powers' article, and for all you Phillips fans, here are some encouraging words about him.

Phillips has been noticeably knocking teammates around during the few days of camp. It hasn’t been anything malicious, but he certainly hasn’t been holding back.

The 22-year-old, entering his fifth professional season, entered camp with a focus on being more physical. He took the offseason to assess his development and decided after watching video of the game’s best shutdown defensemen that he needed to bring more of that physical element to his game.

“I haven’t always used my size in the way I feel like I could, so it’s definitely something I want to show in this camp is being that physical presence,” Phillips said. “If I want to be that shutdown pair type of guy who can be relied upon, that I can throw some big hits, use my body more. So that’s what I’m looking to show hopefully over here, then preseason games and continue on that path.”

Phillips admitted he is enjoying it, too.

“It’s fun,” Phillips said. “It’s great. Knocking someone down, it’s great. It feels good. It’s like, f— yeah, I can do that. … Sorry for swearing. But, yeah, it’s great. When you feel confident in your size and ability, it’s fun.”

You would have to think Phillips is likely in the running for the Blackhawks’ seventh defenseman spot. He and Crevier saw some time in that role last season.
