They then traded Valiev and Matt Taormina in Oct. 2018 for Brett Kulak (great trade). Last year they sent Kulak to Edmonton for William Lagesson and a 2nd round pick, who became Lane Hutson.

So they basically rented out a retiring Tomas Plekanec to the Leafs in 2018 and turned him into Lane Hutson
