I don't think Barron or Struble have alot of potential, they both will probably play in the long for a couple of years but like a Kulak type of expendable player. At this point I would rather see Hutson, Mailloux and Reinbacher.

that's the feeling I had when I saw them play during the rookie tournament. not that Mailloux wouldn't be able to handle things in the NHL right now, but Hutson's hockey IQ is simply on another level imho. it's still early though.

Mailloux is on the 3rd pair with a rookie while Hutson is on the first pair with Savard. Still early but as of now I think Hutson is starting in mtl and we may have a battle for the 7th spot between le chausson strudel, Barron and Mailloux

I think the first pair is by far Guhle - Matheson not Hutson - Savard.

I think they are going to let Barron's play decide when/if the rest of the RD get a crack at the NHL lineup.

one thing is for sure, Hughes will want to maximize his assets, so he won't be giving away Barron for free or losing him through waivers.

I guess that depends on how you look at it, being a solid bottom pairing NHL dman isn't such a horrible thing.

Yeah Reinbacher 90% Laval unless he has an insane camp. Mailloux 50%, depends on his and Barron's camps. Would not be surprised that Mailloux passes Barron and he gets the starts and they keep Barron and Struble as extras rotating in and out.

Yeah, also, I do not think Hughes is really in the market for picks at this point, either. They have a lot of them coming up, and while I guess more picks can always be used in trades, I suspect he would rather look for an upgrade at this point - either at the NHL level or on the brink of being an NHL player.

So I do not see Barron just going on his own, I think it would be part of a bigger deal.

But with HuGo, who knows.
