If an arbitrator ruled in favor of the Flyers, this could open more teams terminating contracts.

LOL, no it won't. It's something that has happened in the past and will happen again. It does not happen often and there has to be a legit reason for going that route.

I just don't like the concesssions if there are any. The kid signed a contract, took the bonus money and then refused to show up. When he was here last year he refused to hang out with his team mates and apparently wants an NHL spot simply handed to him. What I said the other day needs to be put in context. If Kolosov refused to honor his contract, then yes I wanted the Flyers to play hardball and make sure he does not play an NHL game. He needed to be made an example of.
- jd250

Have you heard Kolosov’s side of the story? Or are you just basing it on what has come out on the Flyers side?

Your comments are foolish and shortsighted. What if hypothetically, the Flyers make concessions and the kid develops into a top goalie for the team? Would you be okay with it then? Not much is known factually about what the kid actually wants. It's absurd and childish on your part to want the kid made an example of. That does not serve anyone.
- MJL

You make no sense. So if the kid decided he did not want to honor his contract, you would be fine with the Flyers bending to his wishes and tolling his contract another season, or worse trading him for a lesser draft pick? Get freak'n real! I'm tired of players trying to dictate terms. At least Quitter did so before signing an ELC.

He hasn't given his side of the story and I doubt he ever will. Just like Quitter. Since the FLyers side of the story is all we have and each player has not disputed it, the Flyers side is all I have to go on.

You say it does not happen often. Well I believe its happening more and more and I don't want it to continue.

So you’re taking the Flyers word. That I can understand as they are the Gold Standard.

Well run franchises always get the benefit of the doubt.

You need to check yourself. If the Flyers tolled his contract for a season and then he wound up playing for the Flyers and becoming a top NHL goalie for them, yes, I would be okay with it!
As far as making sense, how does the Flyers trading him for a lesser pick equal making concessions to the player in the context? It doesn't.

You act like a teenage girl that got dumped in these situations.

In regards to Gauthier, the Flyers side is not all that we have to go on.

LOL, before Johansen. When is the last time an NHL players contract was terminated?

Speaking of not making sense. With Kolosov and his apparently not honoring his contract, you want to go scorched earth on him.

Why does an NHL team take the drastic step of terminating a players contract? Because they believe a player has violated and not honored his contract! LOL

You're all over the place and obviously not thinking clearly.

Relax. Comcast can afford the $2000-3000 per hour lawyer fees.

Did he? Or did he have nowhere else to play since his Dinimo team didn't want him? There are a lot of red flags about this kid I'm afraid.
- jd250

what red flags?

I see a lot of talk of concessions to Kolosov. Can someone tell me what they are? I haven’t seen them.

Why would this lead to more teams terminate contracts? Specifically?

Its not bad news .. Johansen is not going to win if this even goes to an arbitrator. What it will turn into is a big loss for the players and thus I don't think it goes that far. There will be a settlement.
- jd250

I dont see a settlement here for anything less then what he is owed by the 2 teams...PA doesnt lose cases like this. Flyers will jusy pay him to stay away like they are with our other LTIR defenseman

I would like to know more about the kolosov deal. Does he have to play a certain amount of games in the nhl to not go over to the khl?
Can he be sent back down to the ahl or does he have to stay in the nhl roster?

Michkov the biggest hype since Lindros....Letting that sink in and realizing that's 32 years ago!!!!

Not sure what is worse, the cup drought or the fact the Flyers rarely have elite players...well if Michkov does in fact pan out.
