Loser Lindy, same old, same old...everyone forgot how poorly he had done before he was fired and believed his BS this time around. It will be a long, terrible season. Hopefully, I am wrong.

The nostalgia hire could go catastrophically wrong.

It’s only 1 game but that team looked pitiful.

Maybe the team just is pitiful and it doesn't matter who the coach is

If this season goes bad, it's 99.9% on Kev.

Think everyone is going to need to accept that Lindy sees this the exact opposite way. Trusted, reliable vet.
- Lunaion

If he's going to get beat physically by a smaller player like in the play that resulted in one of the goals the other night, then what's his worth in the lineup?

Sometimes, as a GM, you have to take away a coaches pet if the coach has a blind spot for him.

I'd say they were already backed into a corner. This is Kev's last chance. People would be a lot tougher on his offseason, if Lindy wasn't a big part of the hope this year.

The decision to do nothing and act like they are set on defense when minimally 4-6 have serious questions is going to bite them in the ass big time.

Definitely got stuff to clean up! A lot of stuff seemed the same as last year.
- Buff36

Hopefully they can steal the 2nd game if NJ has the back-up goalie playing.

But did anyone here really believe:

(1) that the Sabres would be drastically different on day one? it usually takes time to change your habits (if they're even capable of changing, may require changing core players).

(2) that the Sabres would be as good as the Devils? The Devils were a good team two years ago and had an off year last season combined with the additions they made this summer. The Devils will likely be fighting for the top spot in the Metro, while the Sabres will be fighting for that last wild card spot.

Quick to jump to any of these conclusions. Greenway is an underrated player that catches way too much criticism.

They handled Joker exactly like I've feared for years. Aggravating.

If you take away upl and the goaltending issue.

The next huge flaw is the core players

Tage
Cozen
Dahlin
Samuelsson
Power
Tuch

It’s been 2 NHL seasons since they have all played their best hockey. Yes I get it’s game one of 2024 -2025. But game 1 was the same old poop we saw last year.

Still plenty of time to change that.

If Granato couldn’t change anything. If Ruff can’t change anything.

It’s 100% the players

Wish they would give Kulich a shot at RW with McLeod, drop Greenway to fill NAK spot.

Very good points.

2 seasons ago when Florida overhauled their team, coach and system it took them a full season to get the players to buy in and execute their high puck pressure system.

It is game 1 this season to date

It is 3xactly what they should do.

He has value, just not in the top6, and likely not on L3 if they want some reasonable scoring from it.
They can still use his defensive acuman on L4 and PK duties.

Have to start using some of these picks, could waste away another 2 years with Ruff and playing Vets. Way it's going we could basically lose value and wasted the last 5 drafts.

I don't disagree.
However, while I missed the 1st half of the game, the 2nd half the Sabres were controlling play...of course game score had a lot to do with that.
Markstrom made quite a few very good saves while UPL didn't look great. The 3rd goal seemed to be on him him quite a bit, but the D was standing there watching NJD forward pass to the high slot from behind the goal line.
I did not see replays on 1 nor 2.

The boys were running around alot, better energy...they had good metrics, except the one that counts.

I know there are tons of Bills fans here so I as a Bolts fan was wondering what happened with Ford.... Because he is killing it for us..

Ford was effectively out of the rotation with the Buffalo Bills last season. He only played in eight games. The Chargers identified Ford as a potential low-cost, high-reward free agent who could provide stoutness on the interior. He signed a one-year, $1.79 million deal to come to L.A. And he has considerably outperformed that deal through four games.

Ford has brought a consistent physicality against the run. He is just hard to move. He can withstand double-teams. He is active in shedding blocks and creating penetration. Ford looks like a player with something to prove.
