is the pre season stuff still going on...get it overwith already

- senstroll

And the concessions are still regular season prices!

On a good note ...my wife picked me up a swaggy new Leafs Hoodie to wear for the home opener. I'm not a big OVO/Drake guy but it's quality and finally something different to wear.

We could probalby do this all day long - you will see it from your perspective and me from mine - both are biased and to not admit that is simply foolish and disingenuous.

I will just add this though - perhaps I missed this dirty hit (I only saw highlights) on Dach because the hit I saw in those highlights looked clean to me? Do you have a link to the hit that caused the issues? I am by far no fan of Grieg and I think he is a rat for sure and a loser who knew what he was doing when he took the clapper into an empty net but did it just to be a rat. Sure maybe it's silly that anyone was pissed off but it's hockey & it is a bit of a salt in the wound thing that is classless.

As far as getting over the Perry/JT hit - I hadn't mentioned it in forwever and was and am 'over it' but you have to admit there is some hypocrisy in SOME of a fan base saying that one was for sure 100% accidential and then saying Pare on Laine was for sure intentional. lol Even you have said you think both were accidential and for what it's worth I am pretty close to that I just struggle because it's Perry and he's such a POS rat.

Slaf's fighting skills or lack there of dont' excuse hair pulling but he def. needs some lessons if he is going to drop the gloves.

I still think Pezzatta knew what he was doing and had intent but JT is fine now so it's a bit of a nothing burger.

My blue coloured glasses are far more stylin' than the rouge ones man - it's just a fact! I posted that with an extra dose of irony, Leaf fans are accused of being biased by Habs fans likely more than another other fanbase so it was somewhat tongue in cheek but also to point out that Habs fans are 'just as bad' (if you want to call it that) as leafs fans, regardless of if they want to admit it or not.

Oct 9th is being so hyped up now Murphy's law dictates it's just going to end up a boring 3-2 win for one team in OT with one staged fight that will suck and a boring game overall. It's destiny. lol

I do think Xhekaj is going to have to stop doing his best Matt Rempe impression or the Habs are in trouble because he is definitely on the NHL's radar now and there is a feeling he has so far got off fairly light. Next mistake he makes the NHL DOPS may decide to send a message but then again it's the NHL DOPS so who really knows they may send him a congrats card! lol

First of all, thanks for being a sport about this, you know I'm only engaging with you our of respect. You're right, we're all a little biased towards our team, completely natural.

I probably missed the tongue-in-cheek part as I don't really go on Twitter so I have no idea how the insane people there react.

Here's a link to the Dach hit, you can make your own mind about it:

I'm looking forward to Oct9. Hopefully the highlights will be a hard fought game with great plays and not how someone else got injured.

(frank) preseason games, (frank) them to hell.

I hear Xhakaj keeps trying to get suspended this pre season so he doesn't have to fight Reaves game 1.

Still a few more games to go!

Fun fact about that, a journalist actually timed all three "big late" hits during the game.

The hit on Stutzle was actually the one with the shortest delay.

- Scabeh

That is a good point because when I was watching the highlights of that game I kinda' thought the hits were all late too!

Perhaps the rule on late hits is too gray? This is what it is (rule 56):

Possession of the Puck:

The last player to touch the puck, other than the goalkeeper, shall be considered the player in possession. The player deemed in possession of the puck may be checked legally, provided the check is rendered immediately following his loss of possession.

Immediately following loss of possession leaves alot of room for interpretation which is why it's hard to determine. One ref may say 1.5 seconds or less is fine, another may say 2-2.5 or more etc. etc. etc.

I'm not sure if putting in an actual amount of time will work because if possession is lost and then the other team or another player takes possession in less than that amount of time the check is illegal unless you put in language like "X amount of time unless another player has already gained possession of the puck. "

Of all things that I couldn't care less about, a fight between Reaves and Wifi is definetely near the top.

Ya, timing wasn't an issue for me on that one ....his shoulder/arm movement was what brought it into question for me. If he had lowered the shoulder and drove it into his chest .....it might have been a work of art.

Big man had some ill intentions me think.

Hockeys fast ...really fast ...and instincts get in the way. Pare, when you watch at full speed, his side to side movement looks pretty consistent ...I'm not sure he reached with his leg at all.

The Jackeye and Greig hits are both predatory hockey hits ...I like them ...guys looking to leave a mark. But when you're doing that you've got to keep it clean. Greig's a little late (for me) and Jackeye's got that shoulder/arm movement I don't love.

Nice to have some drama in the Atlantic ..and in particular the 401 corridor.

Bring back the Norris division!!

All good holmes.

On the Dach hit - to me it's late, it's not a head shot at all but I counted 3 seconds from when he 'lost possession' to when he got hit. He for sure wasnt' expecting to get hit but as I said the entire rule around a late hit vs not late is WAY too gray.

I can see why Dach would be pissed if he thought it was late (like I do) AND it's Greig so......

Maybe but is there an exception to the LTIR rules for players in the Player Assistance program? I'm honestly not sure but if there is then this should be treated the same way.

He didn't show up to camp to even qualify to get on LTIR for whatever reason (presumably due to whatever he is dealing with) and if that was why I would totally get they allowing him to go on LTIR regardless but the fact the team is essentially reaping a benefit because of whatever his issues are seems weird to me.

Saw the below on twitter from an Oilers fan and he has a bit of a point in that other teams have players who will never play again but have to keep them on LTIR and the associated CAP hit. It's the fact that a portion of LTIR is being used by these teams where Vegas doesn't have to do the same that can appear unfair. I'm sure Montreal would love to have 10M of LTIR space available to them just in case someone on a big contract gets hurt (aside from Laine) or more than one smaller contract.

Maybe the NHL and the PA will address this in the next CBA or before hand and put in a rule to allow for this for any player who will never play again - would perhaps make sense to do so IMO.

The more I think about this the more ridiculous it is. I get that Lehner didn't show up for camp to confirm his LTIR eligibility, and this is no judgement about whatever issues Robin is working through. But, isn't the remedy at that point to just waive that requirement and put him back on LTIR for the final year of the contract?

Does this mean that Montreal can just delete the cap hit for Carey Price? What about Shea Weber with Utah? Oilers for Klefbom (previously)? Like these are real world cases with extended LTIR usage. Why does Vegas just get to delete theirs? I think the league owes the fans and the other teams an explanation here, because at face value, this is frankly bullpoop.

From Laine today ..

Laine also shared Thursday that Pare reached out to apologize afterward, but added he doesn't blame the Maple Leaf for the injury, as he believes he put himself in a bad spot on the play.

"I don't think anybody's trying to hurt anybody," he said. "Hockey's a fast game and kind of put myself in that situation a little bit trying to make a stop. It's just an unfortunate collision and he texted me afterwards, which I give him respect for that."

Respect.

Anyone seen the extended clip of the McDavid locker room rant for the upcoming Amazon series?

I can’t find it online only on Facebook but it’s pretty wild!

He goes from rage mode to what sounds like almost ready to cry and the. Right back to full on rage mode.

Dude is passionate AF about wanting to win and I hope someone in that Leaf locker room is that way this year. As I said earlier I hope it’s the guy wearing the C.

Robertson, Patches, McMann, Lorentz, Jarnkrok and Kampf all playing.

Rifai and Lilly playing.

Holmberg and Timmins not playing tonight ...interesting.
