bah, I've listened a bit to their podcast, and it isn't horrible.
but of course you barely have any nuance, so it's either the greatest thing that ever existed, or the most shameful thing ever that should be buried in the depths of hell.
anyway the game report they did for last night's game is fine, but I do find it doesn't have any personality, so I guess that's why it's called a "report", and not a blog lol. - Pat1993
It's also why I'm not interested in doing them. You can find that information in every sports news media on the planet. I don't feel you need to make a blog about it unless you add an opinion or a twist to it.
But that's just my opinion and I'm sure Ek is glad someone will post one after every game because that's what they were asking for at the beginning (3 blogs a week).

yeah, a report is just cold and doesn't have any takes whatsoever, so I'm hoping that this isn't the only thing they're gonna provide. I'm willing to give them a chance but in terms of actual blogging you're definitely light years ahead of them. |

Yeah, I'd be... this is a summary of what happened last week: Good, mediocre, bad, and ugly, and a short look ahead of what we can expect for the coming week.
That's be the extend I would do, like 1 time a week unless something major happened in between.
But I am glad I decided not to get involved.
LOL. |

I agree with you bringing back the Leblanc thing wasn't the most creative move, but concerning your 2nd point it was a very debatable pick from the get-go, a lot of people had an issue with it so it isn't just a "hindsight is 20/20" kind of thing.

I don't really recall that.
From what I remember, Leblanc was selected around his projected rank, people were happy we got a guy from Quebec and if the Habs had dared pick someone else, the booing would have been astronomical.
Was it the right choice? In hindsight absolutely not but it didn't look "that" terrible at the time.

yep, if I remember well he was ranked exactly where he got picked. I'll be the first to poop on Timmins but that was certainly not his worst pick. |

oh, I always assumed the habs had made a "bold move" by picking him much earlier than he was supposed to go.... |

The only thing that was said by some, and they were right, is that the Habs pretty much caved to public pressure and picked him.
Maybe they still would have picked him if the draft wasn't in Montreal, but Timmins said in an interview (if you want to believe him since it's years after the fact) said his guy was Kreider that year.

hmm, interesting... so if the habs picked him at a logical spot, and there weren't any other available players that were obviously better than him at the time they took the decision, it kind of makes the whole "caving in under the pressure" thing seem way overblown. |

Well public pressure to pick him was definetely there.
If you think people were mad when the Habs picked Slaf, they would have rioted if they picked another NCAA guy instead of a local guy. It really was the feeling back then.

well the pick right after is Kreider and Timmins said it was his choice, thats why it was so talked about
edit : fun fact, Eric Gelinas was in that 2nd round |

I wonder if "captain Dan" survived lol. the guy lives on a boat, and refused to evacuate despite numerous people asking him to leave. he said he'd be fine in his boat on the water, tied to the dock |

yeah, if that's the case it kind of sucks lol... if he was lying about it I'm guessing someone from the organization back then would've stepped up and said something by now.

Timmins has been very good at wanting the very good player when his GM imposed his will and then picking the wrong guy when it was his call.
Or he's lying.
We'll never know.

Or he might say in a few years that Waddel really wanted the big centre and that his pick was Demidov.

there was no one on the road,
it was raining so hard,
the traffic lights were flashing,
i was alone,
empty lake, empty streets
the sun goes down alone
i'm driving by your house
though i know you're not home |
