i was a 17 year old cart pusher when i was a kid and the best part of the job was getting to hop in someone's truck and drive up and down main street collecting all the carts weirdohs stole to just wheel their groceries home. also the poor people would use them to easily contain their belongings while they strangely walked up and down main street like zombies.

we found a lot of shopping carts at john & doug's liquors. there would be like 3 or 4 right at the base of the sign by the corner.

i have now decided the row of carts, as well as the sidewalk, are miles and miles long and eventually the soles of his shoes will wear through and he will be leaving behind bloody streaks and haunting screams as his body wears away like a pencil eraser until he completely disappears and then the carts all go their separate ways, wreaking havoc on the world for the remainder of time.

i got a car and started working. started pushing carts and worked in almost every department that had the same union (the meat department and stuff like that had a . i maxed out at second in charge of produce and then went to superfresh to be second in charge of frozen foods before i decided to get a real 9-5 job.

and the rest is history.

yeah, I think those travelling carts with the homeless is still a thing, it is here at least.

when i was a kid we had a vietnam vet who sadly was badly shell shocked when he had come home so he didn't function very well. he used to push a cart up and down the black horse pike with his coat and clothes and stuff in it. he just walked back and forth, miles and miles. it was really sad.

somehow he got the name sweet potatoes. when you'd see him you'd say "there goes sweet potatoes". i think my father used to give him food.

i wouldn't have taken sweet potato's cart from him.
