Is Laughton really playing tonight hours after his wife gave berth?

Well, he led the team in points the latter 2/3 of 2022-23. He led the team in assists the final 46 games of last season and was two points off the team point lead.

They don't have much depth at center last I checked. So, yes, he is the best option. He's their best playmaking center.

- bmeltzer

Says who, he has what 3 more points then coots and two more then laughton

While having more average ice time then laughton and not killing penalties neither.

And if first half of last year's coots shows up he is the far better option.

I'm excited for a couple of players and the opportunities presented to a couple of young players tonight. What Tyson Foerster and Jett Luchanko are going to learn about the game from being able to watch from a different perspective, will prove to be invaluable on the level that nobody can conceive of. This will be looked back as a key moment and turning point in their development and will springboard them to great future success. John Tortorella's innovative and cutting edge coaching methods will be looked at as the blueprint and Bible for all coaches to follow.

simple question cliff. can they learn anything from watching? yes or no?

I don't agree with benching but one can def learn and pick up something from watching. to say otherwise is plain dumb.

Not really comparable.

Frost played 71 games. Laughton played a full 82. Coots played 74 and got the bulk of his points as the #1 C in the 1st half. After he was hurt and declined He had 7 points over the course of the last 3 months of the season.

You also have to factor in Frost spent a lot of time benched when he did play. 50 points is not unreasonable if Frost plays a full 82 games

Flyers first PP, Frost gets tossed again on the face off, Michkov loses the draw and it takes 90 seconds for the Flyers to recover and then they give up a shorty! You see why PP face offs are so important to win? Don’t look at the stats, watch the games! Frost is killing the Flyers 1st PP unit

That's why I pointed out frost has more average ice time and not killing penalties like laughton does.

And why I said first half of coots

Did that ND fight really need to happen? I guess if you are going to lose at least distract the fans.

If ND wasn't in the lineup what would the Flyers have done when challenged to a fight?

I would say yes, Flyers did not look good, that PP was embarassing. Maybe it gives them a little boost.

That was a crazy play by TK out of the box though

Yes but at this point it makes no sense. What you sit these two players so ND and Cates can be in the lineup? This makes the Flyers better? No problem sitting Luchanko for s game, but sitting Forester is just plain dumb!

If you watched the games and knew what you were looking at. You would know that Frost, coming into the game, was at 56% in draws on the PP.

Good scrap …but why ? Why you sit two youngsters and dress a guy for that ? I don’t get the need for ND to fight there. Get some shifts lay the body…just a waste.
