Looks like Utah could use a RHD with Durzi and Marino going down. They have been playing so well so far....

The owner wants to win! Danny get on the phone and sell Risto like you are selling ice to an eskimo now!

- Glak18

Yes sir!!!

They recalled Maveric Lamoureux from the AHL, but given his inexperience that's just a temporary measure I would assume.

"We have the chance to get a really good player when you're drafting in the top 10 this year, with this crop. But it's a deep draft, and we felt we wanted to acquire another pick in the first two rounds, not having a second-rounder this year. So having a chance to get No. 22 was critical to the deal for us," Briere told the media Tuesday.

Overall, the Flyers have 10 picks in this year's draft, and in 2024, they own four picks in the first two rounds, thanks to the pair of second-round selections the acquired from Columbus and Los Angeles.

The return they were looking for does not indicate the reason why they were trading the player. It was well documented and reported on why the Flyers traded Provorov. Same with Walker. The Flyers negotiated with Walker to try and re-sign him. It was only when they couldn't come to a fair agreement that both sides could agree to, that they decided to trade Wallker

From a fans perspective, there is only one ball. The Flyers had plenty of vets to be able to move Konecny, Hathaway, Seeler and Laughton. You can also sign vets to one year deals if need be.

changing your stance....before he was too valuable to the team on his contract. not surprised

I'm almost 60 years old, I've seen a lot with this team, I get that you're filled with anger from the losing and incompetence. There's been a lot. Some of those players might be moved, some of them might not, we're six games into a season.

It's not that I care about the business side, it's that I understand from their perspective that it weighs in their decision making process.

- Dave21Brown

You're making an assumption that is making you look foolish. There is no anger. Only the ability to realistically look at the facts and come to informed conclusions.

I'll ask again, why do other teams do things differently? Do the Chicago Blackhawks and San Jose Sharks not care about the business side? Both of those teams in a short period of time, have soared past the Flyers in the rebuild process. I bet their fans are excited to watch and see the growth of elite players.

I didn't say that it was factually incorrect. My point is what would rather put your eggs in? Trying to get a Norris level 1D outside of the top 10 or inside the top 10? You also have a player who has won the award 3 times in the last 13 years.
- MJL

I said 9 of the last 13 winners not years.

You can't run a 23 man roster purely with 18-21 year olds, all rebuilding teams sign veteran players to insulate kids. This is not a new phenomenon. For a gate driven league there is also a business side to things, as I typed earlier, you have to manage multiple balls in the air at the same time.
- Dave21Brown

You need Vets for sure but Flyers have enough of them in Laughton, Hathaway, ND and Coots. You dont really need Konecny for that. Not to mention Poehling, Tippett, Frost and Cates are all 25 years old. They are only 2 years younger than Konecny, these guys will be Vets pretty soon.

I've been around this board a long time (2007), don't kid yourself, you're seemingly an angry old man. I'm joking, don't be so serious!!

As for the business side, again, I don't care about it, I just know that teams absolutely take it into consideration. That being said, it's not a flat line, different owners will have different opinions on it. Chicago and Philly have roughly the same cap space, 2 million apart I think?

Anyway, there's more than one way to go about this, you act like it's a perfect linear line they have to follow that some other team followed, doesn't work that way. The objective is the same, build a core through the draft. Michkov is a good start, and to a lesser extent I'm excited about watching, Bonk, Luchanko, Berglund, Bjarnason and Gill develop and see if they got anything with those picks. Not to mention all the picks they've lined up for 2025. It's a process years in the making. Buckle up!

I know that every body is all poo-pooey about the record but as an avid supporter of team tank 2025 I am loving this.
Maybe, by the grace of God Himself, we can get a top 3 pick and draft someone who is able to play on MMs level

Wut? THAT is what you got out of his opinion of Seeler making 800k?

I think even Bill, a while back, questioned the redundancy of all the vets (ie. individually they were fine but collectively were overkill).

I’d be thrilled with a bottom 5 finish this year and next because the club badly needs elite talent and that is how you get it.

But if it does happen, it will be by accident. Why? Because the Flyers organization cannot get out of their own way.

Don't kid yourself, with a rising salary cap 8.5 million, or whatever he makes, will be the new 5.5 million in three years time. TK is a 30 goal 60 point motor never quits guy, there's absolutely several teams out there that would've paid him. Bo Horvat is a center but his production is simialr and he's a wussy compared to TK, the Islanders gave him 8.5 million.

Im sure many other teams would give him the contract he got here. Konecny would probably thrive elsewhere where he is playing with higher talent. He also kills penalties well. He is also 27 years old which is still in his prime.

I dont know what the best comparable would be but someone like Boldy has a cap hit of 7 mill and he doesnt kill penalties. Difference is 1.7 mill between the two. Meier makes 8.8 mill which is more than Konecny. So it appears fair market value. Player costs go up every year as cap increases as well.

If it's all a joke, why are you so serious and repeatedly labeling me as angry? Look in the mirror.

You're repeatedly dodging the question. Why weren't teams like Chicago and San Jose prohibited from rebuilding properly due to the "ball" of business?

Anyway, there's more than one way to go about this, you act like it's a perfect linear line they have to follow that some other team followed, doesn't work that way. That doesn't make much sense. Obviously, teams have different players, different assets. Obviously when comparing teams its about the general philosophy and approach rather than comparing specific moves. It's pretty easy to spot a rebuild. Easy to see in Chicago and SJ. Easy to see it is not in Philly.

Here is what you don't realize. Michkov should be the start of the rebuild but it's not in the Flyers eyes. It's towards the end and all they're waiting for is cap space to clear so they can go for it again. Bonk, Luchanko, Berglund are not likely to be elite players. That is all that matters moving forward. Obtaining elite talent. The Flyers have always been able to acquire good players. It's elite or bust.

Konecny’s contract is fine. Having a team that is 4 or more years away from contending offer said contract, rather than deal him for futures, is what’s bad.

The facts are clear. The impetus for moving Provorov was not to rebuild. Provorov wanted out and he was never going to recover here. Both sides wanted a change of scenery. Your comments are unintelligent. The only hatred I have is for the Flyers incompetence over a decade long. You're a complete homer.
- MJL
false.
any facts to back this up? if the ivan didn't ask to be moved he wouldn't have been moved at that time.
