Again, last season, Sanhiem produced on the PP at a higher rate than York did.

How do you know Andrae is the real answer to the PP at the NHL level?

- MJL

Its a hunch on Andrae, he can skate, has good vision and poise. Doesn't panic with the puck and makes good decisions. I said develop York into a PP QB, something he did in juniors and world juniors.

You're not wrong, if success is measured by winning the Stanley Cup, there's a lot of team who've been unsuccessful over the past many years. The Flyers are definitely one of them. Since going to the finals in 2010 they've pretty much been tripping over themselves left right and center.

New GM, new governor, new direction, it won't always be perfect, it never is. There will be missteps along the way, but I'm hoping they turn the corner and try to build through the draft once again like they used to do.

- Dave21Brown

I am not even talking about winning cups in this instance.

they are a piss poorly run incompetent organization. Really not sure how oen can disagree seeing the last 15 or so years.

New GM, new this, and new direction my ass. There is nothing different.

I'm not going to place an unfair expectation of winning the Cup on them. Too many uncontrollable variables. My expectation is that they build a legit contending team with a wide open window over a number of years to give multiple opportunities to win it.

Stop, that makes too much sense.

- Flyfly

Yea. I think the flyers quit on Torts after that ugly Couturier scratching last season. 🤔

This guy sums it up pretty accurately. Torts needs to cool his jets and let this young team be for a bit.

false.
any facts to back this up? if the ivan didn't ask to be moved he wouldn't have been moved at that time.

I was also under the impression both sides were ready to move on.

And then there’s this

Seems like Torts doesn’t know. So he’s just like Scotty who doesn’t know.

Success thing is mixed. Flyers have had their fair share of bad luck for instance. Going all the way back to Homer's tenure. We had Pronger and like 1 year into his new deal he gets a career ending concussion. That injury lead to many poor decisions trying to replace Pronger which could not be done. If Pronger does not get hurt the Flyers future could be significantly different.

Then you got Hextall's tenure. We get #2 Pick, we choose Patrick and then his career is basically ended from a concussion. He tried to continue his career but was never able to do it. If Patrick doesnt take that hit, maybe that causes a ripple effect that changes the decisions made in the future.

Fletcher tenure was pretty bad, not the worst Ive seen but outside of year 1, he progressively made worse decisions every year. That isnt to say he made no good moves. I liked the Giroux trade for instance. Got a pretty good return there for a player who only wanted to go to Florida. I think he drafted well. I also did like the Niskanen trade. But overall the bad outweighed the good. I would still argue Homer post 2010 was worse than Fletcher though. Fletcher mishandled some draft picks via trade and cap but Homer mishandled picks, prospects\Young players and the cap.

Well, that's a pretty loaded and broad question, which has a lot of moving parts to it because you're talking about a lot of different people across many different years. I assume you're talking about the cap era? Hilferty and Briere just took over the club 18 months ago from Dave Scott and the "old guard" of Clarke and Holmgren, and whatever stooges they put in place to follow their commands. The Flyers have been tremendously successful with different methods, since expansion they're the third or fourth winningest franchise in the league, in terms of wins.

In the early 90's they were in the wheeling and dealing mode and that continued even after the 2005 lockout, which is where the problems lay, or is it lie? It's not impossible to be competitive through trading, but it's a much harder path to follow in a cap era. Drafting is time-proven method to building a core in the cap era, something they refuse to do, until recently. At least I believe that's the path they're now going to take. We'll see if I'm right or wrong in the next couple years.

The problems started when the salary cap was created. Prior to that the Flyers could buy their way out of mistakes. Their front office hasnt had anyone who knows how to manage with a Cap.

Fedotov in, Foerster in- Brink out- shocking I tell ya. Jett still out-maybe he has a final written test in the pressbox to pass until he gets sent down to Guelph.

Deslauriers ice time and fight card way to valuable to sit against a physical team like the Caps. Besides, if you watched the game last night the big takeaway is the Flyers weren’t physical enough! Duh!

But the country club didn't want that. They bendt over backwards to get a in their eyes a "comptetive" goalie. And they paid a ton (unknown sum) to get MM over prematurely.

If they did quit, then get rid of all them. That is a disgrace to the jersey they wear.

DB has done nothing but pay or bring in mediocre players except TK , MM and maybe Tippet.

We are still in a holding pattern for Forester and Frost. I am not holding my breath for Frost.

Is anyone truly surprised!

Seems like everyone knows BUT Torts. We are supposed to be developing and rebuilding and he is coaching every game like its win or go home.
