44 made a comment the other day that he’s now playing for his 5th coach…

That’s pretty crazy when you think that none of the core players have changed over those five coaches…

Yup.
We're stuck with Matthews and willie....the only real change now would be to move out marner.

Over 8 games. 22nd last year?
- joel878

So it's an improvement so far.
We'll know more after 25 games or so if it can be sustained.

Marner and Matthews have only played for 3 and I think Nylander got under Horachek as his 4th.

Rielly has been around for 12 years now, not 10 or less. (Includes the current season)

Keep in mind coach number 3 (or 4) has only been for 8 games and Nylander’s coach No.1 was only for 22 games. So it’s really not that crazy. Add the three up and other than 46 games (all 3 added together) the 3 of them have only played for 2

Its not novelty, its because its not working.
Send marner or willie to the 2nd line with JT.
It doesn't kick any can if they figure it out sooner than later.
Youre assuming the pp can only work one way with certain players.

- Fakepartofme

Agree - to try to change something because it isn't working and hasn't been for quite some time is a good practice and not novelty.

Too much talent on this team to have a PP that is this bad, it's not like the guys who are not on the PP1 are all scrubs that can't score & have zero talent.

I get your point,

but when you have elite 91, 16, 88 & a top 5 player league wide, 34 should you be going through even 3 coaches ??? Nevermind 44 playing for 5 -

Seems as though perhaps, another approach may be warranted -

Without running the numbers I'm thinking it's the highest paid PP unit in the league and has been for years now.

Anything short of top 3 is unacceptable and most of us would settle for top 5.

He’s in year 9

Average coach duration: 2 years

He technically (average wise) should be on his 5th coach not his 3rd

Aside from a few exceptions, it's insane how quickly teams will change coaches when things go bad.

Noice.
What kind of sauce for the mussels?....or that what the white wine is for....a white wine creamy garlic sauce?
I also enjoy making a red wine diavolo sauce

I gotta agree.
Doesnt always work that way.....or in the leafs case almost never works that way. But with the talent they have, they should be tops in the league.
Problem is their PP is so predictable, pass around the perimeter and look for Matthews.

While he was my pick at the time for Montreal at #5 and I'm sure Michkov will become a star player down the line, it's probably too early to tell who was the right pick.

Will Smith at #4 is having trouble in his early NHL days, Reinbacher is injured, #6 Simashev is still in the KHL....

Feels like the top 3 were the best possible choices so far.

Agreed. This is not on Marc Savard, unless he sticks with throwing out the same 5 players. Their pooptiness predates him. The players have to change. The mix doesn't work. It's year after year after year.
