Having Luchanko scratched 3 times in 7 games is just wrong. Sure 2 of those are back to back and an argument could be made about not trying to tax him physically. The organization by now scratching him a 3rd time without the benefit of the excuse of back to back is showing a belief that an 18 yr will get better quicker no matter what role in the NHL as opposed going back to the OHL and play in all situations. I'll go very simplistic with this analysis- Jett has played 3 games in the NHL, Guelph has played 9 games. Sorry, I believe a player gets better by regular season games against competition that is somewhat formidable to the prospect. I like Jett as a prospect, he needs to play in the OHL.

That's the issue. A coach should certainly have input but there shouldn't be any debate. There should be a clear hierarchy in place but with the Flyers. There isn't. It's flawed from conception.

He's not getting the reps he needs in the NHL to work on the areas of his game that he needs to improve on. Whether in the lineup or out of it. It is malfeasance on the Flyers part. I'm sure Tortorella has him working on his defensive tracking in practice.

Neither Cam York nor Travis Konecny practiced on Friday. Defense pairs rotated. Forward combinations were as follows:

Brink-Couturier-Michkov
Tippett-Frost-Hathaway
Laughton-Poehling-Foerster
Deslauriers-Cates-Farabee
Luchanko (extra)

Just looking at the schedule, games 8-15, the Flyers might not win any of these games, except maybe against Montreal. This season could be over very quickly if the Flyers don't turn things around quickly.

If you think they will go 1-7 in their next 8 games how can you say they are a better team than their record?

Jett will be a fine 3C. If he hits right and can develop an offensive game I think he tops out at a 2C. So they still need to find that true 1C to play MM39. And then we just passed up a chance to draft a potential 1D in Zeev.

But hey, we have all these picks in the next draft!

Looking at the season, most leafs fans didn't expect the leafs to lose to Columbus.

This would be my path.

- Make clean break from Torteralla
- Send Luchenko back to jrs
- Briere admit that they made some mistakes in what they thought and will make moves to correct that.

- Start making plans to move vets and money out. Even if it is guys like Tippett and Konecny. I know they were signed long term. So were Pierre Luc-Debuis and Keumpfer. Admit the mistake and move past it.

- Look at deals for Scott "the culture" Laughton
- Decide what the future of Cates is(Center vs Wing, Part of the future or not)
- Send Desluarier to lehigh and let him fight Rempe down there

I do think you can fix it by admitting it was not the right path.

Will they do it........Probably not.

I agree, but I will add Briere, Jones, and Hilferty as culprits. New Era of Orange was some cutting edge organizational structure to give the team an advantage. If this collective cannot reign in the desires of one in the collective, the entire collective gets equal share of blame for me.

There must be a power struggle going on between Briere and Tortorella right now and this kid is the pawn. It’s the only thing that could make any sense.

Tortorella has bullied Briere since he was the interim GM much to the detriment of his standing in the league. This could end up being very very ugly.

Briere will lose. Torts and Hilferty are like 🤞

The 9 games is not team games. It's games played by Luchanko.

Imagine if they kept him on the team all season but only played him 9-games.

It won’t be DB doing any of those things.

To have an 18 year old watching and not playing games is beyond stupid….these are days and games the kid can’t get back. It is such a big year for his development….there is so much there to work with, that this kid could really develop into something special. But the Flyers are doing what they do in butchering the development of their young players.

Guy was a beast.

My college roommate rented a house down the shore owned by Tim Kerr. One afternoon we were all playing horse shoes and drinking beers - living the life at the time. Tim Kerr pulls up to check in and see if the house was good and ended up hanging out w us for like 2 hours playing horse shoes. Super down to earth and just a really nice guy.... Something I will remember for my entire life.

I think the Luchanko ceiling is much higher. This is such a big year for his development and they are actually letting Torts park an 18 year old in the press box. Who’s more dumb? The coach or the GM letting it happen?
