They’re going to sit back and be patient through the draft, that’s what he’s saying, whether you choose to a knowledge it or not. And yes, of course they’re going to to win as soon as they can, it’s a business, but they’re not going to deviate from drafting and developing players to establish a core group. A lot of the 25 and over group won’t be along for the ride in three years time if they stick to the plan, I’m excited about the Flyers future under Briere!!!

No he's not saying that at all. He's saying now is not the right time to give up young assets because they can't. They don't have the cap flexibility to do so. You're having difficulty following the conversation, I didn't say that they're going to win as soon as they can. I said they're going to escalate and get aggressive as soon as they can. Doesn't mean they're going to win. Yes, they are going to deviate from a primary focus on drafting. That is a guarantee. No team completely abandons the draft. I'm glad that you feel excited but I would prepare for disappointment.

He’s a very cerebral player, he’s definitely not going to wow you with blazing speed or anything like that. But I’m so glad they took the chance and drafted him.

He only has one even strength point, an assist, gotta be better 5v5, but special teams points count too. He’s still a very young kid.

No, you’re just interpreting him wrong. Keep the faith though. Of course they’ll make trades to try and improve, but they’ll also keep drafting. They are not mutually exclusive. It’s not a one method scenario, there’s multiple balls in the air to get better.

Hopefully the same way they got them last time, build a core through the draft and then start building around them. A certain amount of good luck and due diligence will have to be involved. Where did Chicago draft Duncan Keith, where did Dallas get Hintz and Robertson.
- Dave21Brown

You are aware that the Flyers did not draft either Howe or McCrimmon, correct? They traded for both players. The other teams drafted those players

You must get excited very easily. What is there to get excited about? The current roster? All the high end prospects in the organization? The coaching staff?

No, I'm not. Again, no team completely abandons the draft. Of course it's not a one method scenario but there is one method that has the best odds and works the best.

What is the one big difference between focusing on the draft versus using the trade and UFA signing approach in a salary environment?

Hopefully.....Hopefully.... so hopefully other organizations are dumb enough to trade players the caliber of Howe and McCrimmon to the Flyers.

Hopefully, those types of trades magically reappear in this salary cap era of the NHL

Well, let me tell you a story son. (I’m joking when I say that) I played in the WHL in the mid 80’s (Saskatchewan) I happen to love junior hockey. I love the process and watching drafted kids develop, grow, and a team come together. For me it’s an all-encompassing journey to getting better, I’ve studied what successful teams have done, historically. It’s not a flat line, there’s many ways to achieve success. I think they’re currently on the right path. I’m a positive individual.

Of course I’m aware, have you not been listening to anything I’ve said? You’re not a read between the lines guy, I get it. The premise was, it’s not an impossible task.

Ok, let me put it this way, I’m excited about six picks in the first two rounds of the 2025 draft, I’m excited about Michkov, I’m excited about Luchanko going back to junior and watching him develop, I’m excited about watching Bergland, Gill, Bonk & Bjarnason devopling. I’m excited about the recent changes and new direction.

I’m not excited about Torts, he’s such a cancer, but he’s good for losing.

There is no real new direction. This is just a pause that was caused by the mismanagement of the cap.

Poorly worded by me, my apologies. My posts are long enough, I try not to be long-winded. That was meaning hopefully they can win a few trades…OR…still maybe get lucky in the draft to find players like that. Just because they traded for them doesn’t mean that’s the only way you can find them. Keep an open mind, lots of ways to get better.

I believe there’s a new direction. Also. That’s something Briere has to fix but it’s not entirely a product of his doing and it’s also not a quick fix. They’ll get there though.

I am not a millennial, I don’t need instant gratification, I just enjoy the process.

A lot of your plan is hope. Hopefully they can win a few trades. Hopefully they can draft someone like Rick Tochett in the 6th round. Hopefully they can get lucky in the draft. Hopefully this, hopefully that. Lots of relying on hope in your plan.

I want less hope and more planning. Teams like San Jose and Chicago have soared past the Flyers in a rebuild not because they hoped but because they were smart. The Flyers are not smart. You thinking that they are on the right path and have a new plan, is nothing but hope.

They'll clear out the cap and then they'll spend it. They'll be like a junkie who just got a 20. They won't save it, they'll immediately look to score the next fix. Guaranteed.
