Sabres' second-power play unit at practice is Power, Tuch, Byram, Krebs and Quinn.
Looks like Kulich will be a healthy scratch again Friday night.

I'd prefer Zucker with Mcleod and Cozens but ooh well. Good on them for switching it up.
Krebs better run with this opportunity. |

Gotta keep a go-to defensive line. McLeod and Greenway form that.
Not feeling that 3rd line, but that's always going to be the case atm. There's no combo that fits together for that leftover line.

Is that fair?
Johnson- 31
Rosen- 14
Savoie- 9
Ostlund- 14
Kulich- 28
Helenius- 14
None of them are playing for Buffalo. One is sitting in the press box, atm. That's a lot of high picks.
One recent 2nd is playing for them. 6 aren't. - Lunaion
Power, Quinn and JJ are the 3 and only 2 really have been constant |

36 is the best of us, agreed there.
And I hear ya with Beck. At some point, it's small potatoes. I just hate to see us trading assets for garbage. It's how bad teams stay bad. Isn't there something to be said about getting value for our money? - QuinnFan
For all the talk of there being an internal budget cap, which sure seems to be true, look at who Adams has signed with the available money.
It inspires the opposite of confidence if he had the full cap limit to spend to. |

Spread the wealth here. That line 2 had 2minutes together and got a goal.
Same with that line 3.
Zucker can keep up and would do well I think with Tage and Tuch

That 3rd line falls under the designation of praying they don't get killed while on the ice. |

Should have Adams traded cozens as soon as he hit 30+ goals 2 years ago?
Tough business, I think we would have all extended cozens - Boss34
I'm not advocating for the bold, and I'm struggling to understand where you got that from what I wrote.
What I'm advocating for is what Dallas has done: Get quality veterans in to support the young players, even if that means any of their top 6 get moved down a line due to the veteran that is brought in. |

Team defense, maybe.
The actual 6 players playing defense, yes, there are obvious problems with that group. |

He got a start each of the first 3 weeks, which was more than they needed him. If he played better, he would have gotten more. He's going to have to earn it this year. - Lunaion
Fair enough, but then do be mad when he struggles. You can't play once or twice a month and expect consistency from a young goalie. He played 3 times, had 1 bad game, UPL followed it with a good one and he's played every game since.
As a goalie, I can say, that's a horrible spot to be in. You're going to feel uncomfortable in the net due to a lack of usage and it lowers your confidence, as it's clear the team doesn't have any confidence in you.
Can say he deserves that or doesn't but can't deny it will hurt his development. Personally, I don't think a single bad game is a good reason to do this. UPL looked tired in his last start. The other unfortunate consequence of playing the hot hand until they're ragged. |

At least UPL didn't get hurt like Levi did last season. |

Who's 1st Rnd picks ? And only 2 are doing anything - Buff36
The entire line up is first round picks for the most part
Samuelsson and peterka 2nd round picks
Wouldn’t be easier to list the non first round picks ?

I've said it many times, they were in a tough spot. Schedule was sparse in October and it was always going to be tough to get him games, even if he played well. He didn't + add in a bad start for the team.
Not an easy ask of him this weekend, but that's what backups need to do. Busier schedule in November. Things start to get normal. I'm not going to fret over his development the last 2 weeks.

Greenway has been flying lately. I think greenway's speed and size and McLeod's speed should open up some good room for cozens to get some confidence |

We have No elite in our prospect pool and hope they fit what Ruff wants. - Buff36
True, but we also didn't draft top5, where an elite prospect is usually had. 1st liners do absolutely come out of the teen picks, but they are a small percentage. We basically have a lot of middle 6 prospects, as should be expected. |

I think Zucker is a fine replacement for JJ the way hes been playing.
Gets JJ back with Cozens and Quinn. Doesnt leave your top 2 scorers on the same line.
Krebs gets to play with guys he did well with (in a small sample)
Top line cant carry the whole season. Spread the wealth.
