Drysdale was not a mistake. Gauthier refused to sign and he was the best Briere could get. They went after Byram but Colorado refused. The flyers would only have been able to keep the Gauthier situation under wraps for so long. Its anazing it didn't come out sooner

It remains to be seen if Drysdale was a mistake. Right now, it looks like a mistake They did not have to trade Gauthier at that moment. They chose to make the deal at that time.
All players learn when they are developed under a losing environment is how to lose. The best development for a young player is being inserted into a winning environment since then they have no choice but to get on board or fail. When young players develop under a losing environment, a majority tend to care more about their individual stats instead of doing what they need to do for the success of the team. - jd250
That's false. NHL history is ripe with examples of teams that have lost and been at the bottom of the league. Drafted and developed and went on to become top teams in the league and win Stanley Cups. You've been brainwashed.
flyers are just an "unlucky" organization. that is why they are in the shape they are in.
than what is JD if it isn't a mistake so far? - hello it's me 2050
No they arent just unluck, some of their issues have been self inflicted but They have been unlucky as well. We have seen several instances where that is true
- Lose 1st overall in the lottery, lose Kane because of it
- Emery has serious injury preventing him from playing during a year where he was probably the difference between a finals loss and Cup Win
- Player we lost in the above draft scores the Stanly cup winning goal against us
- Win #2 overall pick in 2017, player selected gets a career ending concuission
- Sign Fedotov finally, gets conscripted
- Get #1Dman in Pronger, Career ending Concussion 1st year into new contract
- Lindblom gets cancer and derails his career
Im sure im missing more.
That being said the Flyers havent done themselves any favours. They have made a lot of poor decisions over the last 20 years trying to buy quick fixes. The could easily get Elite talent if they would commit to tanking. Lowest pick = Highest chance of elite skill. Flyers arent so they are relying on other teams misses and then having identified the misses which is difficult. Look at the 2014 draft. Pastrnak went 25th overall. He is easily one of the top 5 best players taken in Round 1. Many teams including Philly missed him.
Drysdale isnt a mistake because like Gauthier he isnt a finished product. Young players need to fully develop. It would be like us calling Gauthier a bust because he only has 3 assists so far. He is going to improve and get better over the next 5 or so years. We dont know what Drysdale is. At the end of the day we had to trade him. He had no intention of trying to reconsile the situation. He would be looking for the 1st opportunity to leave the team
I answered your question yesterday about NMC/M-NMC/NTC's given out by the Flyers and where they rank. It is next to last with 3. So, at least they are not a clown show in that respect. - MBFlyerfan
Some teams are out of control but for a lot of teams. it's a matter of the level of talent that you have. The Flyers had 4, now 3 and I'd say maybe Konecny with his future deal is the only player who should really have a NMC/NTC is you're going to re-sign himm.

Same. And I could only watch road games for the most part because my parents couldn't afford PRISM. - MBFlyerfan
I remember PRISM in the late 80's and early 90's when I lived in Tampa for a bit. The Flyers were basically the home team in Florida before the expansions.
I also remember being really excited for every game, even though the team was absolute garbage.

I am talking pre-PRISM - 7 stations total ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS along with 17/29/48
Channel 17 broadcast Phillies Games 29 Flyers and I think 48 was 76ers - corduroy
Yep!. And watching Flipper, Leave it to Beaver, etc on channel 48 during the mornings in the summer. All pre cable. But as I said, I didn't have cable when Prism started in 1976. I didn't get cable until Comcast was created in 1996.
