I just read the Jets blog because I'm on a terrible conf. call and was bored.

The Leafs at the Jets was the first sell out for the Jets at home so far all season? Really?

That's a bit surprising to me considering their hot start and the fact their rink only holds just over 15 K (it's the smallest in the entire league).

I saw a game there about 4 years ago and for 15 thousands people it's super loud!

And their results on the ice were, overall, pretty good so it's not like they had a crap team to cheer for for too long either.

For a crowd that desperately wanted a team back, you'd think the support would remain strong 13 years later.

For what it's worth, PLD is a better player than what he showed last year in Los Angeles. He was just a horrible, horrible fit on that team. They didn't know where to use him or what his role was.

He's already looking slightly better in Washington so far.

But yes, Chevy turned a bad situation into a very good one for the Jets.

Even if the Jets are a lower priced seat, buying 41 (and usually 82 or more if you're going with at least 1 friend or family member) seats at . . .what $80 - $100 per seat? Taxes in and you're looking at probably around $9k to have season tickets - and that's in the upper bowl. That ignores transit, parking, beer at the game . . .

Season tickets are just not a practical reality for the average person anymore.

This is true and even in Toronto it's become hard for some season ticket holders as MLSE is even starting to price the upper bowl out of reach.

We have a friend who manages seasons tickets for someone she has known for years who doesn't want the tickets but won't give them up either (which is dumb to me because they could make some good $ by selling the rights to the tickets).

Anyhow she used to go to like 3 games, sell me as many sets as I wanted and then list and sell all the rest to people she knew at a VERY minimal profit (like maybe $20 per seat) and the profit was just to cover off the loss of the pre season tickets that NOBODY wanted. She never had any problems selling all she wanted to sell, in fact she had to say no to a lot of folks.

Ever since Covid she has struggled to sell tickets to the point where she was trying to sell the tickets to the game the Leafs hosted the Blues (thank god I didn't snag those tickets) recently at a $100 loss to herself and the seats sat empty.

I scaled back last year and bought none this year - it's just too much when you layer in all the other stuff (food, transportation, parking or train ride, booze etc) and it's a full day and evening by the time it's all said and done.

The tickets are 10th row greens in a corner which is a nice view but they aren't golds. Face value for the Sat pm game vs the Oilers was almost $500 for the pair.

That's just insane to me.

He can suck a nut ....True North bought the team for 170M and 13 yrs later it's worth 1.1B (probably more if it sold as a relocate like Utah).

900M over 13 yrs. They can operate at 25M annual loss and still be guaranteed that their grandkids grandkids will be die young in Ibiza from a coke overdose.

I do remember there was one guy who lived in the Hamilton area - died tragically in a fire.

And I do worry about Leafman, who was a mod here, and IIRC had health issues. He moved out to B.C., so maybe he just became a Canucks fan.

Upper level season tickets for Jets games range from $40 per game to $93 per game. Cheapest seat is $1730 per year before tax.

PLD is a team cancer.. His track record shows that he is just not that good.. My guess is he bombs in Washington and gets maybe one more shot somewhere.

Why would they put regular season tickets at a price point that ends up having unsold seats?

Playoffs are a totally different creature though, they will sell out every game regardless but I have a hard time believing the make more money by over inflating the regular season games to the point where some tickets don't sell at all and make up that money and make more profit with the playoff mark up then they would if the regular season tickets were less expensive and sold.

Oh well end of the day it's a wildly expensive experience and you just hope you don't drop a bunch of coin for them to lay an egg.

The last hockey game I attended, the seats were $10 plus tax for nosebleeds. Free parking. You could watch a game and have a beer for $20 and have change leftover for tolls. You could smoke a joint on the outside deck smoking area. That was the mid 90s at Tampa's old "ThunderDome" that Hurricane Milton just wrecked, aka Tropicana Field.

I’ve been a Leafs season ticket holder for almost 30 years.

This is the first year where I’ve thought about giving them up.

It used to be that you could always sell unused tix for a small profit. That all changed with COVID.

As you all know, I am now obsessed - I look at tix for sale on Ticketmaster for every game.

People with lower bowl seats are selling at a loss every game.

Oh, and by the way, tomorrow night’s game still has tonnes of tix available. Hallowe’en games are always sparsely attended.

My recommendation: go downtown tomorrow, go to the Keg York Street for happy hour, and watch ticket prices start to plummet by 4 pm. Do not buy anything until 6 pm at the earliest.
