1st time in a couple of seasons that I can recall them actually scoring with an empty new behind them. |

Not a great game, but you take the two points and move forward. |

Mrazek faced 40 shots... Should be the #1 star of the game. Stole that one.
The team had their worst 2 periods of the year and then still pulls off a win. Proves you have to play a full 60 minutes. I'm sure that's what the LA broadcasters must be saying. |

So I'm confused- is this a moral victory or defeat for the Kings, now? Damn it the Hawks flipped the flipping script on them.
And looking at the 3 stars their arena listed for the game- ok I know what route they took ... the 'Participation Medal' route. . . um -if you team loses a game they statistically dominated.... um, that team does not have the top 2 stars of the game - they just don't - unless you prized that single point that you managed to retain by A) being the only team to give up a goal to Chicago when Chicago has pulled their goalie, and B) also being one of the infinitesimally small number of teams also not to score on Chicago's empty net...
I guess that's where one of the stars should have gone --to the guy choosing the 3 stars for over the top, taking of artistic licence. |

If you want another victory, then tune in to Rockford at home tonight against the Chicago Wolves. |

Right on, Rico!!! Much more fun on the winning side, of course.
One thing about this Kings team, they seem to roll 4 decent lines. This gives fits to the Hawks, whose bottom 6 play well against teams that play with a top-heavy top 6 like the Oil and Avs. |

Diidn't see that game but was it better than their 1st period in COL? If so that's saying something.
Gritty win today. Unlike the Bears who battled back last week only to be undone by coaching and whatever the (frank) Stevenson was doing, Hawks made this one stick. Cheers! |

No, the 1st in COL was better but they had the needle on the record vs a weaker team in the 3rd at SJ. Lotta puck movement, possession, nice quick outs followed by speed thru the neutral zone which made em dangerous. ...... Think the blocked shots were 31-9 SJ. Showed you how much possession the Hawks had and putting pucks at the net.
I liked Phillips today. Hopefully he dresses tomorrow instead of Brodie again. Kid was assertive, stepped up a couple times from a good gap to make a play. ..... Interesting to see guys dressed after being scratched for extended periods. Makes for hungry hockey players.
In the post game the Greek said Soderblom will play tomorrow. Looking forward to that and all the young bucks that ANA rolls out.

I see a lot of similarities between Kane and Bedard only in this respect ……
Neither are enthusiastic about playing defense. Sometimes they really lack effort coming back or in their own zone. I don’t see that changing. But when the game is on the line and the puck is on their stick, look out.
Bedard is a better shooter. Kane a better playmaker. |

Caught the WHL Edmonton at Seattle game live last night, really good game, Edmonton won 5-4 in a shootout. Some game notes:
Blake Fiddler, RD, 6-4, 209 (Wiz #18 2025 draft) is the son of Vernon Fiddler, long time forward for Nashville, Phoenix, Dallas, etc. Blake Fiddler was the top pick in the CHL import draft, taken by Edmonton. His size is noticeable and he looks slightly top-heavy (and was toppled once during the game in the d-zone), but has some room to add some lower-body bulk. He skates well, and has very good puck handling; roves east-west easily in all zones. Has some NHL sense already; for example, he has high energy shifts and does not extend them.
Learning to be physical in the defensive zone, moves smoothly, looks to exit by passing rather than carrying. Played on the left side a little and didn't look uncomfortable. He and his d partner got lost twice on a nice back-door play Seattle was running; one of these was a goal against. Also made a couple of exit passes through the middle that were intercepted and resulted in Seattle chances. No major flaws - all the errors seem like correctable things.
Able to carry easily in the neutral zone but always looking for the pass. On offense he pinched in a few times and took the puck behind the net with some mixed results. Created chances but also lost the puck a couple of times and was then behind the play. Has a good low shot but can also lift the puck as well. A quick lateral move, receiving the puck and a hard quick shot resulted in his goal tying the game at 4-4 in the third. Had a nice keep-in and pass to create a scoring chance.
Talent is definitely there for the 2025 first round, if he lasts to the Toronto pick will be fair value or maybe a bargain.
---------------
Old favorite Gracyn Sawchyn returned to Seattle and had one assist for Edmonton; he has continued to get better, and FLA might have a nice middle 6 player in a couple of years. His younger brother Lukas Sawchyn is also on the Edmonton team, and is draft eligible for 2025. He is smaller and thicker than his older brother, but plays a similar game. Made an excellent reverse pass in front across the goal mouth to set up a teammate for a score. Has 1-8-9 points in 14 games and could be considered in the mid to late rounds.
For Seattle, Brayden Cootes (C, 6-0, 183, 2025 eligible, 5-10-15 pts in 16 games) had a goal and 6 shots. Cootes was a B prospect in the Central Scouting rankings, so he might be a mid-rounder.
Of note, Edmonton has forward Joe Iginla (2026 eligible), another son of Jarome Iginla on the roster but he did not play last night. Has 1-1-2 pts in 11 games so far. Like his brother will probably develop over this year and next, and should be interesting to see how he turns out. He is a smaller player right now being 5-10, 165. |

Gotta take your word for it, didn't get a chance to see any of the game tonight, but as i said before he looks like robotic like KK did for the Blackhawks last year. Probably why he is in the rock. |
