A lot of things I could say here, Mike, but to put it simply:

Thank you.

You will be missed.

You helped build a great community here Mike, through majority dark times to the sad good times. It almost makes up for you being in Buffalo.

Thanks for keeping these blogs coming over the years and giving a space for all the nonsense that ensued.
All the best.
Take care.

This is ridiculous. Why is Eklund allowing the site to flounder? Guess he wants it to die as there are already a good number of teams without bloggers. Augello and Meltzer were two of the few professional bloggers on here. There's nowhere to go unless Reddit is considered an option. Cap Friendly obviously ended. SB Nation closed most of their NHL team blogs.

Ek stopped trying with this place a long time ago. It's a handful of diehards that keep it afloat.

I found HockeyBuzz after the NHL lockout as an avenue to express my bottomless pit of opinions, and I then started calling the prehistoric Buzzcast podcast call-in show on Talkshoe, hosted by Eklund and Julie Robenhymer.

It's tempting to write something here and get banned for it - just for old time's sake.

OK, but if those diehards are leaving the place will die. I don't want to go to Reddit. I'm already on Pensburgh, but that is only a team specific site. There's no place for general hockey convos.

So first off, Hockeybuzz isn't dead yet.

But here's an idea:

Create hockeybuzz communities on Reddit.

r/Hockeybuzz - Toronto

r/Hockeybuzz - Pittsburgh

I love MiB, and I always read his blogs, but the real value of this site was the community. No reason it can't simply move to Reddit.

There's already team subreddits and the lack of consolidation removes most of this community's value. I don't even go into the PIT forum. Moreover, I despise Reddit and it has no organic value other than the accessibility. I would either want Ek the impediment to remove himself from this site so it can be managed properly, or for this community to go elsewhere to a site that has something organically valuable to the NHL. Cap Friendly/Daily Faceoff, Elite Prospects, or TheStanleyCap would be some natural options given they already have strong specific contributions.
