Kinda want to see Robbie on the wing with Mitchy, feel like Mitchy could use a trigger man and Robbie can rip it and needs to pot one badly.

With Patches potentially out long term, a shuffle has to happen. Your logic is solid, Robbie has been useless.

He's working hard and defensively, much improved over last year, but he just isn't built for dump and chase at all and gets knocked down so easily.

What happened to Patches? I missed it. Did he explode in a shower of shredded tendons and bone fragments?

Those woods look inviting. I've always entertained ideas of going out there like Grizzly Adams. Except instead of befriending a bear, I get mauled to death by one on day three.

On a season of Alone, some dude was taking smack about bears. “Bears better be afraid of me.” He landed at his spot, found some bear poop in the first hour and called it a day. “Can you come get me”.

This PP turnaround makes zero sense.

They're playing normal 5x5 hockey but while they're on a 5x4.

The other times they were playing 5x4 hockey, trying to be too cute and not doing (frank) all.

Simple. Just play hockey.

(maybe also not listen to the fat and bloated Marc Savard's drunk plays )

I wouldn't argue this vehemently, but last year Robertson didn't have a Mitch Marner and he was scoring at an impressive rate. Domi assisted on about half of his goals. This year Domi and Robertson haven't been overly effective together (-1), and both have been better off on different lines. Ironically last year they were decent together - but both performed better without one another then as well.

My thing is that I don't feel that Robertson is necessarily snakebitten - I feel that he's sort of making some of his own misfortune. Last year at this point he had 21 shots, this year he has 17 - and last year he did have a 14.5% shooting percentage to this year's 5.9%. I admit that I don't have his shooting position numbers handy - but my general impression of where Robertson is shooting from is further out and more often from less dangerous places. Marner isn't going to put him closer to the net and in those prime positions to score. He has to do that for himself.

They have to put Robertson in situations where all he has to do is shoot the puck. Because that's pretty much the only NHL level skill he has.

Nice to see the leafs beat teams they are supposed to easily beat.
I like the pp without matthews, trade him.
:😜
Or just move him to the 2nd unit.

I think the PP is better because Marner has raised his game significantly and Willie is playing well. I’d rather have two shooters.

Matthews, Marner, Willie, Knies, Rielly.

I think, that joke aside, one of the problems I'd felt with Matthews early on this year was that his been his accuracy is off. Now, that said the volume data suggests that he's been shooting more and more accurately than last year, but the individual things we've seen with our eyes support the lack of accuracy. I think I've seen at least 3 guaranteed goals that he shanked through 13 games this year.

Using Moneypuck's shot data, they don't have shots on net / shots missed by shot type (LD, MD, HD), but overall last year on the PP Matthews averaged 15 shots / 60, and this year he's averaging 20. It's not necessarily the quality of shots either - last year it was 13 low danger shot attempts, 6 MD attempts and 3 HD attempts; this year he's at 18 / 4 / 4 for those metrics. I would certainly like fewer LD shots out of him - that's not his game - but just on the aggregate of the quality of shots, he should have more goals on the power play than he does.

I would be curious to see if he's choking on his HD chances, but as I said the data I have immediately available doesn't say.

Grebenkin loves having the puck on his stick. He can be creative in 1-on-1 situations, doing his best to deke guys out and create a chance. He’s better as a setup guy, especially when paired with a speedy, skilled shooter. Grebenkin does an excellent job of cycling the puck. He’s able to shrug off shoves from bigger players, keep the play alive and then generate a scoring chance

Pair him with Robertson 👍
