agreed.
they made a mistake, lets hope they learned something.
not sure they will though. - fidopro
things aren't going according to plan right now, that doesn't mean there isn't a plan at all anymore. |

oh for sure. they have a plan and stick to it. all good.
but when you make a mistake it's important to recognize it and fix it asap.
can not say I've seen them do that so far. |

you're assuming that MSL is the main cause of the team's issues right now and that firing him is the only solution, but that definitely might not be the case... I suspect they know a bit more of what's going on with the team than you and I, so we'll see what happens. |

it's not the only solution, but doing nothing about it is certainly not helping. |

Changing the coach just to change the coach seems rather pointless.
I do not think a change of coaches will make a material difference right now, there is a fundamental flaw in the structure of the team / players that can only be addressed with (eventual, but slow) turnover.
We knew this was gonna be ugly.
Coach won't change that.

The same core group is regressing. The system or structure is not working and they come out flat every single game.
Changing the coach will help. |

I heavily questioned/criticised MSL when he was hired. So I am not a MSL cheerleader.
I think he has done some really good things with the culture / focus and help some of the kids develop. Where I am frustrated is the refusal to bring in a veteran assistant coach that can help him and the team progress.
If MSL was not willing to do that, HuGo should have forced it upon him.
That is their biggest mistake, so far.

They are all buddies, so I think they will.
The problem is that some guys need to leave right now, but it can't really happen.
Dvorak, Armia...
I have nothing against Jake Evans, but you can't play him as a 2nd line center. Just use Dach there and live or die with him. I don't have expectations for him until after Christmas, because of the time he missed. If you think he's your guy going forward, why is he playing wing?
They also need a 4th line worthy of that name. They are soft as poop. They need poop disturbers up front. Guys who will forecheck using their shoulders, not the tip of their sticks (code).
The captain should lead by example, and he's not right now.
So many things going badly this year, it started with an horrible training camp.
Lone bright spots are Gallagher who looks like the Gallagher of old, and Lane Hutson, but I'm afraid he will be completely burned out by January. - stinger67
i dunno to me he needs to go on the 3rd line centering Gally and Anderson cause I dont like his effort level, he doenst play like a rusted guy he plays like somebody that does not care.
ya know just a game to send a message, I dont get why he still play with Suz, it doesnt work

Gerard Gallant is good for one season before losing everybody and getting fired. Why waste this year on the good year? |

I don't think neither MSL, Hughes or Gorton were trying to pretend everything was fine lol

I don't think they're contemplating hiring him as head coach, he'd probably be hired as an assistant

Who goes? Or do they do something like the Sens when they hired Jacque Martin as a "special advisor?" |

who the (frank) knows lol. could be an advisor role, or I guess it could be for an assistant job, they probably don't need to fire anyone, unless there's a maximum numbers of assistant coaches allowed per team... |
