Hadn't heard about this one. Wonder if we will be able to see it here south of the border:
Forty-two OHL players on the NHL scouting radar will hit the ice in Brantford on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 for an exciting, first of its kind event for the Ontario Hockey League.
The inaugural Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game presented by Enbridge Gas pits the league's top prospects from the Eastern Conference against those of the Western Conference as NHL scouts will be out in full force at the Brantford Civic Centre to witness this highly anticipated event.
---------------------------------------------
Catching the Soo-Sudbury game tonight. Travis Hayes (2025 Eligible, RW, 5-11, 169, 8-8-16 pts in 28 games), Gavin Hayes's little brother, has the first goal of the game. He is fast and handles well, esp. on the rush. Probably not scoring as much as he'd like to, but still might be an interesting draft possibility in the mid rounds.
Pharand seems to have a nice game, knows where to be and what plays to make. In the o-zone, he lives in the slot and in front of the net, good attribute for a bottom 6 forward. Should be worth signing if they can find him a spot at ROC. - totem
Look at you totem, slumming watching the OHL!! Really strong league this yr, really strong. Tons of talent in the league giving the fans some damn fine games from really good teams. Kids are so good so young you have to keep recalibrating how you evaluate.
Been catching up on the WHL. I so wish the beastly McQueen was playing. If healthy he just might be in the 2-3 slot conversation but he's only played 8 games cuz of his back? And he was out a bunch last yr cuz of his back.
As far as Pharand he's just another kid in the pipeline playing well. It's what a total tank, lots and lots of draft picks including high 1st rd picks, brings back. ..... Now, just manage your hand properly and things should be good.

Norris is good, however too many red flags with his shoulder. I would not include Rinzel in a trade for Cozens, I’m with you there, but I like what the kid brings. Very hard to assess him at this time as the Sabres are even a bigger mess than the Rangers. - Angotti
Not many, even guys who draw a paycheck covering the NHL, who aren't nearly shocked at BUF's talent not putting it together. This club is loaded but just don't win, and thru multiple coaches.
I do think there is some kinda stink on that locker room the last 2ish yrs. A conundrum of the highest order........... There are a few guys on that squad that any fan wouldn't love on their club.

residential Libraries Act of 1955
In 1955, Congress passed the Presidential Libraries Act of 1955,[19] establishing a system of privately erected and federally maintained libraries. The Act encouraged other presidents to donate their historical materials to the government and ensured the preservation of presidential papers and their availability to the people of the United States. Under this and subsequent acts, nine more libraries have been established. In each case, private and non-federal public sources provided the funds to build the library. Generally, once completed the private organization turned over the libraries to the National Archives and Records Administration to operate and maintain. |

Please stop yourself, fatty. Cmon man, 7th overall, played a yr in the NHL at 19, at 20 he put up .5 per, 21 he pops for SIXTY EIGHT, 47 as a 22 yr old, 13 in 29 this yr.
Kid is a legit 6ft 3in 200 lbs and he's 23. Buy him out???? Cmon, fatty, so you read the most idiotic maniac BUF poster, and bring it here like it's mainstream?? ... Cmon, fatty.
Is there risk? Of course there is with any single player who ever played. He's a centerman, Bedard is not and besides D!ckinson they don't have an NHL centerman in the whole pipeline.
Buy him out? Geeeez, fatty. ............. He'll cost Rinzel +. I'd move any Dman in the system in a Cozens package except Vlasic, although they'd be dealing from considerable strength, and Levshunov to bring the Hawks a 23 yr old, big time back class, 6ft 3in 200lb centerman who scored 68 as a 21 yr old, at 23 has 309 NHL games (he's always healthy) who never played AHL, straight to the Bigs and still has .58 ppg in those 309 NHL games.
Buy him out??? Stop yourself, fatty. - Mr Ricochet
Look at the Buffalo Sabres reddit page. It's been mentioned a few times and because it's cheap and he's been bad.
Freidman also reported that he is drawing significant ire from the Buffalo fans. “The Buffalo fans right now, they are all over Dylan Cozens,”
He's not a 7 million dollar player. Fact. And it's not just a few more years it's until 2030.
For people emphasizing being so careful about not spending big money on someone, who is established and a top forward now because of being afraid he'll decline and will take up too much cap - well how does an underachiever fit in there?
If you're going to give up a top D prospect for anyone on that roster you want Thompson.
People who actually watch Buffalo, say that he is one of the most disappointing players on the team. Certainly not worth the 7.1 million.
https://thehockeywriters....%20paid%20a%20substantial
Cozens has had some problems in the past with slumps or being snakebitten and going on long scoreless streaks, so unfortunately this is not something that is new, but the narrative is getting extremely old at this point for a player who was recently deemed to be one of the team’s leaders and is being paid a substantial amount of money to score points in the Sabres’ top six forward core.
Reddit is always fun

If you have seen what's going on in Rockford, you wouldn't be such a jackass.
What makes you think an ex player, with absolutely NO experience coaching, would be a logical pick for a minor league team trying to develop young players??
This entire front office is treating both teams like it's a video game, just acquire players, and if you use the right cheat code, they will all just magically fit.
The current standings should tell you this just doesn't work.
They speak of creating the right culture - how is that working out???
Other than Bedard and Nazar, and maybe Savoie and Slaggert, this is the worst group of forwards at both the pro and AHL level in the entire NHL.

Ever heard of the term process? It’s when you forgo the results to build the skills, work ethic, tactics and sometimes strategy to get there. By all accounts Eaton is a development coach. His job at this point is to help the kids develop their skills to get to the NHL. Did your kid know how to do Calculus in grade 1? No he or she learned simple arithmetic, then more advanced mathematics, then trigonometry then calculus. Did you give up on your kid in grade one because he couldn’t do calculus, no of course not. You allowed the process to develop your kid’s math skills to eventually take, understand and master Calculus.
Right now most of the prospects aren’t even in Rockford. And the ones that are, Nazar, Slaggert and the graduate Vlasic are all doing well. Allot of the other Rockford players aren’t serious prospects or are just fillers. That’s the process, winning isn’t a huge priority, learning to win is. Or would you rather KD fill Rockford with good journeymen who get most of the ice time to win now?

No, I would prefer him to hire an actual coach to coach the young players in Rockford. Not just a front office guy say, "there's an opening? Let me give it a try."
Sorensen is a very good coach for the young players. Mark Eaton is a very unproven commodity. And I'm telling you, Kyle Davidson has some very good people in place scouting young talent. But keeping Nazar down in Rockford, especially when Bedard is struggling with every forward on the pro roster, it's just more than head scratching. Nazar is not learning anything else about the pro game there, and he is definitely NOT learning anything else from Eaton.
And when it comes to this pro roster, is it developing young players, or just stringing together pro castoffs, and hoping they figure it out??
How is anything they are currently doing helping their star?? The regression of Bedard lays squarely at the feet of Davidson, and he seems content not changing anything.

It's the shot man. Always was. World class by any measure. ....... Helluva 1st period for the Hawks. Would be wonderful if what holding them back was a coaching change.
Club looks really hungry. Full effort to get to pucks and win them. ..... Notice a Dman gets to the top of the circles when the puck is in deep. Allan really jumping in and following a rush to the tops of the circles.
Soderblom, I guess we've come to expect big games every game. Kid is fantastic. ......... No doubt KK is a more poised player and seems a tad bigger. He has some purpose to his stride, not just trying to hang on the whole shift.
And only 25 games in the AHL, Fatty, and you get a new KK! Just think what a whole season down there will do for the 20 yr old!! |

He fired the coach and it looks like part of the reason was to help a drowning, to a degree, Bedard. So that counts as change...or no? They did sign a couple guys that should move the needle a bit in TT and Bert.
It hasn't borne the fruit most of us expected so sure...BOD out. |

Everything is contested, they are taking away time and space in all 3 zones and it seems all 5 are ready to go offensive the second they win a puck. ..... Fun brand to watch and for the players. Skate hard enough playing D and the reward is all 5 get to go go go.
A very hungry squad.

One thing they have to work on in rushes is have more than one forward attack the opposition zone. Smith just tried a rush all by himself, against three Isles players. Bedard is always in the same situation. Teammates have to get a quicker read on a breakout and get into the zone with numbers. |
