That's all well and good until you look at pretty much every single other stat surrounding him. He's far under water in Corsi, shots, HD chance percentage, etc. He's luckily plus 1 in GF/GA. Its' nice that he seems more engaged and is happier, but I just think there are so many other guys in the system that can and will bring what he does. I just don't think he's a guy that you keep around because you think he might turn into something.

I'm not comparing skill sets, but Bedard with pretty much anyone else is a much improved player over the entire ice sheet. With Reichel, he's a nightmare, and that follows Reichel pretty much any line. It's great that he's finding some success offensively, but unless he finds a way to stop bleeding chances against, he's not long for this team (IMO).

Well i think Reichel is a give and go player right now. If he gets into good habits like using his speed to get back on defense forecheck and so on he will be an asset as he gets more experience. Also i think of KDs words how he doesn't want to develop players for other NHL teams anymore.

A little more, it's hard to find guys with speed and good hands Reichel has both.

Hockey trivia time, I hope someone knows the answer. The other day, the Leafs scored on five consecutive power plays. A friend of mine asked if I could find the answer, and thus far, I have had no luck. I found that an old Leafs team went 51 power plays without a goal, and the 2000 Caps killed 53 straight penalties. But it is elusive as to a definitive answer on which team scored on the most consecutive power plays. I saw on another board someone said the Bolts did 6 in a row, but there was no way to confirm this. Anybody here know the answer?

Found this link for most PPG in a game. Three teams with 7. Doesn't say if they were on consecutive power plays.

If you're ambitious, you can then go to hockeyreference.com, go to the season in question, select the team holding the record, then go to schedule and results, select the game and look at the box score.

Sharp really came into his own when he was 25 or 26. Lardis is 19. He might be the next Sharp, but the Hawks will need someone between now and when Lardis or other prospects are ready.
- Ztra

Did Sharp score like Lardis against OHL competition at 18 and 19?

I don't think any two players develop exactly the same, I wouldn't put conditions or timelines from another player, especially one who did his developing 23 years ago.

Sports science, training, coaching, equipment much different today.

Chunk, think Guentzel as a comp for Lardis. They are both smallish darters who don't establish position in the slots but instead play off their great reads and dart into dangerous ice in the slots, and after loose pucks and both can flat out wire the thing.

Don't really shy away from contact but both know they'd get knocked down hanging around the slots flat footed... They read, and dart. Not unlike the way Kaiser plays. Great reads and immediately/decisively act on those reads. You can't miss Lardis' Reichel like explosion but it's his reads that are his best trait IMO and generally speaking a high IQ jr with skill translates to the NHL.

That's what drew me to Kaiser the first time I saw him in his 12 game USHL stint and to post last yr I'm planting a flag on him being a Hammer-lite 13-15 yr NHL Dman. ....

I agree, i know when i looked at all the combine numbers i was surprised to see Lardis leading a couple and being in the top 10 of a few others. My guess he's a gym rat as well.

I don't know, when i hear LR speak he is knowledgeable about the game of hockey. I like how he can go into detail about why he did this or that. I did get frustrated about Reichel not playing, then being bounced around in the line up. Ultimately if he keeps playing Reichel I'm good with it.

Don't like my dmen playing 25 minutes a night but he is playing the other kids over Brodie.

You want to hear a coach who is in over his head, Eberflus talking about the process and complimentary football, really offers no detail or insight in why they did what they did on any play, EVER!

I think it depends how long it takes before the Blackhawks are good more than anything else for LR.

- BetweenTheDots

I think its pretty clear at this point, the the Hawks and KD, have moved in front of Bears and Poles in the race for the best tear down / rebuild. Don't care what others say, I like LR and think he'll be a very good coach for a long time when he has talent.

Poles f'd up bad keeping Flus, and not hiring a Offensive HC to go with Caleb, and should've bought and drafted a couple more Olineman, especially up the middle.

Their T when heathly are serviceable, but they need maulers at G and C to keep pocket clean. They'll have another top 5 pick and probably 2 top 10s in the second round, he better focus on both lines next FA and draft.

Yes it is.

Like i said earlier the Bears think it's better to hire an executive instead of a football coach.

I don't know about you, but i wouldn't let that guy run my kids lemonade stand let alone a company or even a department.

He is the walking definition of in over his head. Bears always hire losers, and losers lose.

Vermont and I knew he played college, and not sure how to compare the two, i looked at his college numbers and they were OK. Nothing like Lardis has been putting up, though I'm assuming Sharp didn't have great players with him at Vermont, don't really remember seeing the Catamounts play in any hockey games before.

I really don't think so, he's exactly what they want in a guy who can fly up and down the ice, he's clocked going over 20mph 41 times that puts him in the 95 percentile.
- BetweenTheDots

Agree. I think they move Kurashev before Reichel, unless the return is significant.

I went down a lot of rabbit holes trying to find this info, including the box scores of the games on that page. Those games had a ton of penalties. And some of the PPGs would be scored on the same major penalty. One guy on the Leafs board responded with a GIF that I could only guess meant only God knows the answer. I figured some of them saw the recent Leafs game, and it might have been mentioned on the broadcast. Not the case, apparently. Somehow I find all these other records pertaining to power plays, but not that particular record. MLB trivia research seems easy by comparison, anyway.

Has the playoff drive begun?

Well, given the results in Detroit, the rebuild has several years to go before relevance. We're not expecting better results from KFC than from Stevie, are we?

Of course not! How dare you even suggest such a thing.

Not sure Wings fans are quite there. They still seem to feel Yzerman is generally doing good work. We'll see how some of the draft picks pan out but other than Kane, I think the FA signings and trades have been largely meh.

Yep. Detroit and Chicago have a similar problem, imo; neither has enough high-end (dare I say, elite?) talent.

We certainly are (and should). Hence, why you don't pass up the chance to get good players when available just because you have a lot of prospects coming. I was very encouraged that they (allegedly) went after Guentzel. Maybe if they can prove to be a better overall team this year, players will have a warmer inclination to join next offseason.

The drive is on. They’ll be the first playoff team to average two goals a game on offense.

Well, at this point in the season there's quite a quagmire in the standings for the race to the bottom. Chicago (13 points) is among the 12 teams with 12,13, or 14 points. And there are a five more teams in the low rent neighborhood with 15 points. But, depending if you're optimistic or pessimistic, if you go by point percentage due to the uneven number of games played, the Hawks are 4th from the bottom with their .406%, behind MON and NSH with .375% and San Jose at .382%.

There is a lot of equality among the teams so far and no clear cut bottom feeders. A good winning or losing streak by teams will more clearly define the standings.

Never know what to expect from the Hawks. They are playing better than last year and keeping themselves in games. They win some games they should lose and vice versa. Offense is till pathetic. Team defense seems a bit better. Mrazek has stolen a couple of games. That .406% projects to a season ending 67 points. I would guess they'll finish with more than that since I expect the offense to pick up which should result in a few more wins throughout the season.

If and it's a big if the Blackhawks continue to only give up 3 goals per game the likelihood of them being top 5 team at the draft will be slim.

Keith was over 25 from 24-34.

from when stats were available Lidstrom skated over 26 for a lot of years and over 27 for 6 of his Norris years with one of them being 28.

Makar skates between 24-26 per year.

Josi skates about 25. Heiskanen about 25.

I think that's just what you have your no 1 do.

If the Hawks are in the 75 point range I think they exercise the option and let LR run another season. It's not like he's some Jeremy Colliton figure who appeared from Europe and tried to reinvent the wheel. He's played 1400 NHL games, paid his dues as an assistant and head coach in the AHL - as long as there isn't a complete debacle I think that is a guy you give a shot to.

He also explains the game well to the fans and gives way more detail than typical hockey coaches do. Q was a great coach but his pressers were worthless.

Maybe he's a Steve Kerr type coach and once the talent arrives you'll see something different. Or Greg Popp is another one who came in bascically when Duncan arrived and he's had a nice forever gig.

When he first started the type of team he described was like the Avalanche, Florida, Tampa or even Vegas to a certain degree. Puck transitions quickly and efficiently from D to O and you smother your opponent in chances for. They haven't had the team or the talent to execute that - even this year but if you look at Kaiser, Vlasic, Bedards tremendous progress away from the puck and defensively - there's a lot of good signs that he could be more than a place holder.

Reichel has improved but it's still tough to say if he's just a million dollar arm with a 10 cent head and that isn't on the coaching staff.
