The cost to acquire him will be steep. And do you want to risk him causing problems in the Hawk dressing room? Whatever moves KD makes he has to be very careful.
- paulr

Miller has a full no trade clause. The Hawks are probably one of the last destinations Miller would want to come to.

The Hawks have plenty of asset options and won't/can't ice them all.

How much worse can it really get? I'd say to having a multiple time 30 goal scorer (who put up over 100 pts last year) and who constantly demands his teammates pull their weight is a net positive.

KD being careful got them to where they currently are. By no means am I saying trade everyone, but they can afford to give up a prospect and a high pick or two to get a bona fide NHL player.

I've been reading a lot about JT Miller and Pettersen in VAN. If he is even remotely available, I want Miller on the Hawks. Size, reasonable age, can play and produce, and gets vocal when other guys aren't pulling their weight. He's pretty much everything you want Foligno to be, but better.

I don’t know Chunk…. I do get it as the Ranger game was unwatchable, however he’ll be 32 in 6 weeks, by the time the Hawks will be contending for a playoff spot, he’ll be 34-35 years old. I like JT Miller and what he brings, but he’s more valuable to a playoff team. Unless they’re bringing in a youngster, they should wait until this offseason for that type of move, and if over 30, no more than a 3 year contract.

Who cares who he is more valuable to? The Hawks wont' be contending for anything if they don't start learning how to win games in the NHL. Look, I'm with you on the age thing, but at least he's not broken down and he's playing well right now, not three years ago. $8M is not going to be a real hindrance to the team in 5 years anyway with the cap going up.

Will Seth Jones waive to go to Vancouver?
- 333inthe3rd

Just need some well placed negative stories regarding Jones and it will get done.

Jones is already hampering them at 9.5 and he still has 5 years left. So getting rid of Jones somehow to being Miller in would be a huge net positive to me.

The question has been asked by others but would the Canucks want Jones? I doubt it.

That leaves hoping KD can bamboozle another GM into taking Jones.

I really hope so cause then we are going to have to deal with 2 old overpaid players instead of one.

I suddenly realized the site was back up.
Maybe we need to get each others emails so when we decide on a new hang out, we can all come along.

Was happy to run across this. Roenick I guess has a podcast with another guy, Peel, and JR talked about the Winter Classic and how all the players from both teams came up to him, Chelios and Savard and acknowledged them except for one player. Bedard!!!

JR is a lil sad Bedard didn't bend the knee but they go on to talk about Bedard and his "game". The other dude ain't digging Bedard as a hockey player. Thinks the NHL and media pumped the kid up and he just ain't near that player.

Fun listen. Start it at 3:50. https://www.eliteprospect...try-draft/2023?position=g

Call it progress. They've got six old overpaid guys on the team right now. (at least three signed for next year as well)

He's a smaller teenager on a team devoid of help. He'll be fine as long as they actually give him some help.

Because it was a crapshow here for a while. I think the site was down for almost a week?

Not to mention they can't seem to find another poor sap to actually write about this team since none of us want to pick up that cross.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Hey Wiz. Welcome back.

Ya know I am starting to lean a bit toward he is more a Kane type, which is still a phenomenal #1 overall pick, but not all worldly McDavid, Crosby, McKinnon type.

Stuck between that and it just being a lack of effort thing/not physically matured yet. There were a few shifts in the 3rd of the winter classic where I saw Bedard explode and beat everyone to a few pucks. He almost seemed angry and wanted to go get the puck. Rarely see that.

If he is more Kane, then you need a #1 two way center still to do the heavy lifting.

Idk though. So hard to tell considering how bad the team is most nights.

Hahaha, the Canucks used up his best years and now that he's at that magic age of when forwards decline, you want a rebuilding team to pick him up at his salary for what 6, 7 more years. I'm going to let you in on a little secret the more talent this team accumulates through picks, development, free agency and trades and good coaching is when they will learn how to win. It takes 23 guys to win hockey games.

W/O too much complaining:

Moore is a future Hawk WHEN?
Not for awhile after the tourney and his results.
It bugs me how the Finns I liked the Blackhawks to draft all looked like they are taking steps forward. Kasper Halttunen was drafted right after we took the Slovakian Goalie Gajan for one.

To me this team needs another shooter and kid who is and excellent stickhandler, and a solid kid face off man.

I saw them in the tourney, but we don't "own" them.

I am sure there is no way a team can trade for Capital's Ryan Leonard, but he sure would be something next to Bedsy....

I know. This would be a trade.

You're telling me you wouldn't trade either Jones and a pick or two, or Foligno and D!ckinson and a pick for Miller?

I'd do either in a heartbeat.

Regardless of what Bedard ends up being, they likely need a #1 two-way center as well. That guy could already be in the system, but that is definitely needed.

The Hawks seem to have 4-5 guys that they hope can be centers
Bedard
Nazar
Moore
Greene
James/Thompson/Safonov (LOL)

And 1 that pretty much is, but not sure about the offensive ceiling.
Boisvert

I'm actually pretty positive overall with the wingers they've accumulated.
Spellacy
Lardis
Vanacker
Kantserov
Slaggert

all look pretty good at the moment and the improvements they've made to their games year over year have been notable.
