You don't think someone will take him half retained in exchange for "future considerations?" Where he'd waive, of course. - 333inthe3rd
Maybe at season's end. What teams have the cap space at the TDL to take him on that are in the playoff picture?

Dallas. Seguin is on IR until mid-playoffs at least. Like I said, take Dumba off their hands and he can play 2nd pair. |

Calgary, maybe Rangers if they want to buy. I doubt he'd waive for Calgary, but he might for the Rangers. |

Stan will take Jones with $3m retained. Chicago has to take J. Skinner. Maybe CHI gets a prospect or a couple of 2nds in 2027 or 2028. |

i think nill will do like last year (Tanev) and trade for a D-Man on an expiring contract (David Savard of Montreal comes to mind, so does Doumalin of Seattle, even Jokihariu),

Evacuations where I live were lifted. I am one of the lucky ones, just have to deal with bad air for awhile. - LAHawk

Both players have full NMC's courtesy of Stan. Would they both waive? Plus Bouchard is an RFA, and their payroll is already at $75 mill for next season, with six roster spots needing to be filled. |

The problem with moving Jones is not so much that a team would want him for a playoff run this year, but how does he fit for the next 5? and that is the big elephant inthe room as regards to being able to trade him..
Maybe trade him to San Jose for 2 years of Vlaisc's cousin ? |

They are just about to get out from under years of poopty D-man contracts. Something tells me SJ isn't interested.
There likely won't be a good suitor for him, but we can dream. The crap of it is that the Hawks don't have a problem with the contract, they have a problem with the player. Other teams will have an issue with the contract. |

Phillips doesn’t have much value, however why not trade for a lottery pick forward vs a smallish defenseman that’s put up 11 points in 58 AHL games. I just noticed that he’s from Belarus, so maybe a roommate for Levshunov in Rockford? Who knows… - Angotti
Thought THN had a solid take on the Phillips trade. Yea, looks like Lev and the new Soviet were linemates. ...... https://www.msn.com/en-us...4a4b793bd2206b36f6e&ei=29
I'm a Phillips guy, think he has traits to fill out the bottom of an NHL roster and have an NHL career. No doubt he fell down the Hawks' depth chart, and will fall more with Rinzel coming and Crevier taking a step, Kaiser too, so I'm glad he was wanted and hopefully will be given a chance.
When I see and track guys like Kaiser, Crevier, Del Mastro, Phillips types I'm always wondering if they've shown enough to get noticed to get a big trade over the top, a prospect(s) for prospect trade, they develop well enough to be a Hawk or just help make the pipeline better.
These kinds might very well have, and bring, value.

Skinner is a healthy scratch 3 in a row, seems to have worn out his welcome just like in Buffalo. Jones wants to play for a contender. Seems like both would have reasons to waive.
Not sure what the E. Kane status is, but he's giving some cap relief right now; not sure if that will last all year, and it does get tougher in Edmonton in later years.
And CHI has to find another defenseman to take up some minutes unless they want to play the young guys a lot.

LOL, when you mentioned Skinner I thought you meant the goalie, not the figure skating winger.

It's about hope for the future, packaged for one evening. We watched the draft live at the UC when it was here. It's pretty cool seeing a hopeful get called to the stage and how excited his family gets. The first big step to an NHL career.
Right now we are paying even more attention to the drafts because it's a huge part of how to get out of this quagmire, and we're looking for any signs of that starting to happen. KD has been stockpiling picks, and it's more interesting following that than it is figuring out which placeholders he should sign for the next two seasons.
Add: And when any of these picks/prospects show any signs of having an NHL career, that's exciting for us. I mean seeing Nazar have a good game against the Oilers has another level of excitement, because we start thinking is he going to keep doing this? Or is Lucy about to yank the football again? - 333inthe3rd
Great post, and this is what tear downs look like as it goes thru stages of a process. So, we know things won't be good until prospects are up and contributing... What else is there to watch, games like the Hawks played v CAL? If it wasn't for Nazar, Bedard, Dach and the kids on D I would not tune into quite a few games.
Too many hockey options everyday for a hockey fan to watch crap as the early parts of the teardown can be painful. ...... Fears realized that without near elite goaltending and an opened up style these games would get ugly. .. Big chance for Soderblom though.

With this type of comment, there is no way there is any good chemistry in the room right now. May be time to quit bringing in vets that still want to win. Can't see how this is building the "culture" that KD wants. We suck regardless, might as well play the kids. - Black Raven

Evander Kane just had knee surgery which set his timeline back. I think they said 4 to 8 weeks and it will pause his rehab of his abdominal surgery, so probably gonna be approaching the end of the season or the start of the playoffs. I think Edmonton wants a Dman but I heard more likely they are interested in Murphy. |

Did anybody hear about the 1901 project? It is a seven billion dollar project surrounding the United Center. Could take up to ten years to complete adding a thousand jobs to the area. Retail, parking and residential as well as a park. The area, it is a changing. I used to pay a kid a dollar to watch my car on the street. Promised him another one if he was there when I got back. The good old days at 1800 W. Madison. I miss the old gray lady! |

Offer sheet for Knies? Especially if TOR gets pinched signing Marner and Tavares. - Chunk
Pipe dreaming I'd say. They'll happily let Tavares walk if needed to re-sign Knies and continue their reload. Matthews loves playing with Knies also. |

Yeah, with both Taveres and Marner unsigned and the possibility that both go to the UFA market, there may be a lot of money to retain Knies. |
