I find it interesting that the Hawks and Bulls can spend 7 Billion dollars to gentrify the area surrounding the outside of the United center but they can't come to an agreement with Comcast for what's going on inside the United Center. By the way, there have been a lot of articles about Toews lately. What GM in their right mind wouldn't take a chance on him? Wait, I know one! - bjphawkfan
Considering he's not even sure that he's coming back yet, I'm sure all of them. He's still got to determine if he can get back into game shape and then the repeated stress on his system won't give him recurring issues.
100% agree on the Comcast nonsense. The fact that we are halfway through the season and still nothing has been done is laughable. I'm really hoping that no one pays for the CHSN app. That's friggin robbery especially with the low quality of product being put on the ice/court/field. Stick with the antenna where available. |

So who coaches next year? Here are the coaches employed under Davidson
Colliton
King
Richardson
Sorenson
Is he going to continue with Sorenson, or hire a coach that has had some NHL experience? - LAHawk
It will be interesting to see which coaches are available this summer. Jon Cooper's contract doesn't end until after next season, in case anybody wondered. |

We do the Rick Renteria thing next year and then go buy Cooper, 6 x $10M. |

Based on absolutely nothing, I think he'll put a full court press on Carle at DU, and if that doesn't work, he'll fall back on a coach with experience (Woodcroft, or Boudreau).
What I want is pure chaos. I would love if they brought Q back. Just for the absolute meltdown that would occur. |

I want a proven excellent coach. Someone will get fired after the playoffs, my guess is Sullivan, but usually a front office overreacts to a rough exit. Sorensen isn’t ready for the pros and was more valuable mentoring Rockford kids. I don’t want another first timer. It needs to be someone with more experience than Bedard in the NHL who commands respect with a solid system. Richardsons system was conservative, probably by necessity. King and Colliton had no business being head coaches. |

he Athletic today had a lightweight piece by powers on "would the Blackhawks select defenseman Schaefer if the selcted first?"
It seems like a bit premature, since a team can finish last overall and select third, if 2 other teams get lucky.
My answer is Yes, YOU SELECT HIM, since he is faster and better both oofensively and defensively than Lev & KK, and not a small guy either. You don't trade out. (that rarely happends anyway.)
Assets are assets. If KK doesn't get together his complete game defnsively ala Forsling, and you cannot get him to feel secure enough to gamble on jumping up offensively, you CAN trade him for youngster at forward, because it will not be difficult to trade him (or any of the defenders, even the point here is you cannot PAY four defensivemen top salaries, and Bedard, and the rest of the roster.
(That is a fact for every team.)
Phillips and the entire group in Rockford has value in trades. But Crevier seems to have really taken a step to ensure he is one of you low cap salaried "others" on the team, as Nolan Allen is...I am sure they will not tell there agents to hold out b/c they know their role their cp hit, etc.
(AS I see Crevier gain more confidence, I keep thinking how the Hawks got an extra last round pick for MONTREAL (for a Hawk 7th rounder in the enxt draft)).
Granted, you start getting into unprotected waters with the lower parts of the dee's backend, but that is exactly what you want: lower Cap hit call-ups.
Hall might get you a 2nd, but after Mrazek and his team poop the bed in the last game, not so sure teams are going be ringing the hawk phone off the hooks.
I am more curious if Kyle lasts through the draft, since the results of his vet-spend has been so awful.
And that brings up another wrinkle, IF THEY GET a NEW GM does the new GM (w/o not enough to access the Hawks scouting team) take Schaefer the best fastest top defender, because the ownership says we have a lot of defenseman?
New bosses tend to be hard in the infancy of new general manager-ships, and that would be a mistake not truly taking best player available, especially when the 4th best player Misa seems like the best fit at centre, giving them wiggle room on who their top top centres are with all three Bedsy, Frankie, and Misa fine on the flank.
Note: After I typed that off the phone off the hooks remark, I wondered how I dated my 74 yr old ass.
But my cable phoes (and office phones are still cradled in Hooks, correct?) - wiz1901
Good to see you posting again Wiz. A couple of days ago Paul discussed KD and the effects of bringing in a new GM. I would keep KD around for at least another year, no sense in changing gears at this point, let him continue with the rebuild, and hopefully he can bring in a bit more talent this offseason. |

I think KD said before that Sorenson will be part of the organization going forward regardless - although don't quote me on that because I can't seem to find evidence of it at the moment.
The main argument for Carle is that he's had tremendous recent success (two WJC gold and two National Championships in the last three years. He worked under Jim Montgomery previously and many, if not all, of the players that have come out of that program love him.
Ultimately, I kind of feel the same way I do about the Bears. You can only do so much to make chicken salad. Here's to hoping that the Hawks kids develop a bit more and they can find a coach to get something out of them. A good showing tonight would go a long way. Looks like Soda is starting. |

Does Torts make it to next season in Philly? I kid, sort of. He did get a lot out of Seth, to his credit. But Torts did say he didn't want to come here not all that long ago. |

Just saw this...kinda interesting
Darren Dreger on Insider Trading regarding Seth Jones:
“It’s not like Kyle Davidson and the Chicago #Blackhawks are shopping the defenseman. He’s got a pile of years left at $9.5M AAV. His contract doesn’t expire until 2029/30 and he has a Full No-Move Clause across the board…”
“But look he’s a quality defenseman. Yes teams are calling and they’re asking about Seth Jones’ availability. So it’s going to have to be something that we continue to watch as Kyle Davidson puts his stamp in this rebuild.”
Send him packing and bring up Korch!

Well Bedard with another skill guy that can skate is fun to watch. Nazar’s energy is contagious. Bedard playing with more energy.
He’s even playing down low in the D zone a bit |

It will allow Bedard to be deeper in the defending zone and can hit Nazar on the fly. Nazar should get a lot of break aways
