Because S. Jonrs played well, that eliminates for 1 game about 15 he must. Be traded today posts. |

I had a convention in Vegas yesterday at the Rio and to my horror, the game was not being televised in the casino at the bars/tables or even in the sports book there. The Rio is off-strip and not part of either of the two biggies, MGM or Caesars, but come on, the Knights are Vegas' team!
For once that 20 bucks a month I pay for the crappy CHSN app was put to good use! |

Nah he still needs to go
Hopefully this is Seth Jones playing the best he can to have teams desire to trade for him |

Yup, that right side defense behind him is a real juggernaut

I think the worst thing you can do is keep a guy because of the fear there is no one better than him. He just makes to many unforced errors as a 30 year old hockey player. I thought Elbows was over reacting but there is no denying it, he plays hockey purely by reacting and he's been able to have a good career doing it but as he gets older his reactions will be slower and slower.
I think a key moment in the game was when Maroon got the dumb penalty, who was the 1st defensive pairing on the PK, Crevier and Vlasic.
If there is a trade partner available you make it, trust your scouting and developing and keep building for the future.
I feel like Seth Jones is like the character Roger Dorn in the movie Major League |

Crevier is looking like a solid 3rd pairing dman.
Great pick considering he was a 7th rd pick |

I hate that you guys were right about him, and LA even called this team out for signing Brodie, he's so slow and his hands are pretty much done. |

Maybe not currently, however with Levshunov, Rinzel, and Crevier it could eventually be very formidable. I’d also add Fiddler, if he’s still there with the Toronto pick. RD’s are a commodity, I would not be surprised with a decent return for Jones, at least a better return than most would expect. |

Martinez is done also, Hertl blew by him like he was the ghost of Calvin DeHaan.
That being said, I read where Davidson is giving Martinez and Maroon the option if they want to finish out the year in Chicago, or go chase another cup. That tells you the return both would bring.
As far as Jones, if he goes he goes, but the return would be very underwhelming also, no matter how he play,s the next month and a half. Especially since Jones can determine where he wants to play.
Colorado offered more in trade for Giroux than the Panthers but Giroux wanted to go to Florida, so Philly had to take the lesser deal.
Or the return for Kane. |

The problem with Jones isn’t so much his high cap hit, or the fact he isn’t worth the salary he’s making it’s the fact that more often than not he’s just going through the motions. Not exactly what you want young guys seeing and he’s certainly not someone you build a team culture around. |

If that is true, why didn’t Davidson get rid of him in the off season, when supposedly asst. GM Foligno said there needed to be changes in the locker room ? Or even before, when Davidson traded Kane and told Toews he would not be resigned because he wanted the young guys to be the leaders ( and then he names a 37 year old as captain and extend him for 2 years on an overpay. |

I don’t think he has much hockey sense, and is slow reading plays, but other than when he came back from injury, I think he isn’t going through the motions. What defenseman that play’s 26 minutes a night goes balls to the wall every minute of every game.
Or what team’s veterans that doesn’t play meaningful games after Thanksgiving give their best efforts night after night. |

Am wondering if they should sign T. Hall instead of taking the 2028 2nd round pick or whatever they would get for him. I would expect him to have a better year next year being 2 yrs removed from the knee surgery. Maybe one of the 2x4 contracts the KD seems to like.
Still need another forward as a FA. They will likely have to look on the second tier, Ehlers or Boeser maybe. Would also sign Donato back for a year or two.
Bertuzzi - Bedard - Ehlers/Boeser
Hall - Nazar - Teravainen
Foligno - D!ickinson - Mikheyev
Dach - Donato - Slaggert

Couple thoughts on last night. ... Is this the first win since Bedard came that wasn't a goalie win? If it isn't there can't have been many.
Reichel had a fine game. Never a surprise cuz we've all seen that in him at times but doing it playing center makes it even better. ...... I've been out of the Reichel prognostication business for awhile now but it's reasonable that Sorensen is good for him. His system is more open emphasizing flow, and along with King, nobody knows Reichel better. ... We'll see if builds off of a solid effort and result.
Jones is another one. We've all seen a really good game/effort outa Jones but have seen enough of him to know those efforts will be far and few between. He's the kind of guy who has to make up for a poor IQ with activity and it's just not there.
But, last night will catch some eyes around the league. Not unreasonable to think a GM, or 2-3, could see his system "fixing" Jones or at least absorb his shortcomings well enough that it won't hurt his squad. ... Lotta GM's can talk themselves into a big, right shot, 28 yr old Dman that can skate and has some skill being a needed piece to get over the hump.
I do think, without any particular plan, KD is keeping his eyes open for the right chance to move Jones and doing it. ......

You don’t need hockey sense to put in effort. When you don’t tie up a guy in front of the net, that’s lack of effort. Funny thing is out of his zone he tries much harder. A coach can teach anyone to play defensively, so long as that player puts the effort and hard work to do so. In his own zone he very often doesn’t pick up his man, he often doesn’t tie up his man, he often loses position to his man. That has zero to do with hockey IQ. |

Ok I get it, trading Jones is all that is needed for the Hawks to be a contender layoff team. He is the sole source of their problems.

I think I read somewhere that his skating is what would keep the Hocks from drafting him.
Update your list at lines yet? - captainserious
My top four rounds are close but I honestly have not muddle past the 6th rd with my ideas yet , o it is not complete as the 7th sRd. its empty.

If that Nazar kid can play with that same energy every shift of every game he's going to be a really good hockey player. - BetweenTheDots
That hoiw he plays.
And wait until he gets comfortable and shows all that two opposing players converging on him doesn't change his attack ideas or his feeeling he can make plays through them.
