Avs cupboard is as bare as it comes especially in AHL where they have literally nothing of interest. There's even a guy in his mid 30's I used to play against in high school on the roster lol. It's that bad.
Some nice young junior players though - Ritchie and Curran would be tremendous pickups but if I was a bettering man, I'd say they're looking at Zellers who's playing for GB Gamblers this season and committed to Univ North Dakota next season.
Avs are likely in on bottom 6 vets like Smith or Donato and vet d-men like Murphy or Martinez. Sorry guys, we're stuck with Brodie and you know it - Assman22
After I read Boiler’s post, I looked at the the Avs roster and junior assets and the only worthwhile player that I’d take is Ritchie, I don’t know much about Curran. So you are correct, not much in prospects and they are up against the cap.
Edit- by the way, they only have four picks in total in the first three rounds of the next three years. |

I’ve seen Ritchie play live and on TV 100 or more times. The season prior to his draft year Ritchie looked like a real up and comer. In his draft year he was productive but he wasn’t involved in the play, he was a perimeter player, staying away from the boards and tough areas. I was adamant that the hoping the Hawks not draft him at the time. Then just before the draft news of a season long injury comes out. Which is surprising because the regulars at the Tribute Centre never discussed it during the season and apparently were unaware. The following season after surgery he’s a completely different player, still putting up numbers but playing a far more robust game. I would love to see KD acquire him but I have no idea how he’d do it? I’m pretty sure Colorado isn’t looking for prospects or draft picks considering where they are in the NHL and I don’t see anyone expendable on the current being enough to snag him. |

Cool article about Boisvert and the development he's had:
https://chicago.suntimes....-north-dakota-shane-pinto
‘‘He’s a long, lanky body . . . but now he has the time to put on added strength and weight to play at the NHL level,’’ North Dakota coach Brad Berry said. ‘‘From when he came in [during] the summer . . . he’s noticeably thicker.’’
Boisvert entered the season weighing 181 pounds and got up to 190 during the Christmas break before dropping back to 185 now that games have resumed. He eventually will wind up in the 200- to 210-pound range.
‘‘[Boisvert plays] at a high pace, but he’s competitive on puck battles, and having that assertiveness sets him up to have the puck,’’ Berry said. ‘‘He makes good reads . . . distributing the puck, and he’s got a high-end shot and release that we’re seeing not only five-on-five but on the power play, as well. |

I can't confirm this (taking it off another blog), but the reason why the Hawks have scouted both Avs and Eagles (AHL) games is because Ivan Ivan was up and down between teams at this time. Ivan - 6-0 190 lb forward, 22 years old, undrafted, still one year left after this on his ELC.
KD maybe looking for players instead of picks for TDL trades so Avs' draft capital is a moot point? Maybe there are interested in Hall or Martinez. I think I would take a flyer on a player instead of a 3rd round pick.
Think of this, the Hawks could have Ivan Ivan and Marcel Marcel. |

Another good one covering Savoie, and Levshunov.
https://chicago.suntimes....tyom-levshunov-mark-eaton
I've been trying to figure out the best way to describe Lev's struggle, and this probably sums it up as well as I can imagine.
The young and raw defenseman has made some fantastic plays and some equally terrible plays. The IceHogs have been outscored 27-15 overall during his five-on-five ice time. He has also taken a lot of penalties.
Much of that stems from his instinct to be extremely aggressive up the ice, which leads to him getting caught on counterattacks. Eaton said he’s “recalibrating” Levshunov’s perception of what works and what doesn’t at the pro level.
“There are maybe one or two defensemen in the world that create offense by leading the rush and being the one up in front,” Eaton has told him. “Most offense created at the pro level is [from defensemen] joining the rush, providing a second wave and being good passers, and then of course on the power play.”

Maybe for Martinez straight up? He’ll also take up a roster spot and we have a lot of young guys to sign this offseason. Hawks have a plethora of lottery tickets like him already. I will say he’s tough to take over the puck though and stout as they come on skates. Learns to play the body more, he’ll have Barlow comps imo. |

Just catching up did I miss much - oldduffman
Let's see:
Half of us think the rebuild is taking too long.
Half of us think that first group doesn't have any patience.
The current team still sux.
The future team is doomed because it's a Chicago team.
Everyone is wrong but me. |

This is from LBR at second city. This for the most part encapsulates my feelings about the rebuild.
https://www.secondcityhoc...y-have-to-feel-like-this/ - LAHawk
I love most of L_B_R's post when she frequented here.
But, sadly too small a sample size for me to believe there is San Jose kids are all right and thriving as the leadership group, or that Luke Kunin is who they replaced.
After the trade deadline I believe that opens a space on the back end, so #44 or Nolan or Louie sit.
I will watch closely next season as the team DOES get younger with the ones here now know what youthful leadership is in their play, not the non-game play.
I know every writer wants a platform but I just don't see any comparison of the two teasm with the worst record need be praised or compared now. kinda dumb.

Well although my head is spinning, I think I had five rounds of guys up for the Lines 2025 mock draft
I haven't even imput 7 rounds of players yet.
and the 6th round is just jumble.
The funniest thing is my human fanboy frailty because I have a bunch of players I like enough that if I was the GM I would pick them.
They are:
Porter Martone or Michael Misa.
Somewhere in the mid or late second
(maybe they need a trade to ensure he is there?)
Joshua Ravensbergen goalie
Eddie Genborg, who is a reach early in the second, and then there is goaler Jack Ivankovic, goalie, who I doubt lasts until Slot #58 (NYR)
as I have said previously, daddy was a goalie and he was a large man. Mybe the son has that growth spurt and sonny Ivankovic gets top his daddy Frank's playing size of 6' 4' 194.
and late in the 4th with The last pick in the Kaner trade, i want to take Alex Misiak, the brother of big who they selected #55 in the second round in 2023, Martin Misiak.
I am sure id an NHL team with eat that second year on the TJ Brodie, but Martinez might sell as Hall or Donato for future seconds.
Yeah two goalies, because i am thinking that Joshua Ravensbergen will go before that 2nd first rounder... |

Do you think Caleb Desnoyers can sneak into the top five? I haven’t seen him but he sounds very similar to Jonathan Toews, a big two way center who can score.

Good thing this blog page contains the explanation as to why we have no blogger… must’ve missed you being listed 🤣🤣 - bhawks2241
Actually a few of us did drive off a blogger, who like Dahawks8819, pretended he was an insider. |

The blogger we drove off happened a while ago. It wasn’t Zach, he was good and put in allot of effort and didn’t pretend he knew more than he did. |
