As much as i love Hagel, to kick start a rebuild it was a great move. Don't you see some Hagel in Nazar? I sure do. Supposedly Moore is the same kind of player and one of the scouting reports i watched on Boisvert was he's like an old school player, in the day of giving an honest shift he checks all the boxes including checking players. Sure there's a possibility they don't amount to NHL players but that's the risk you gotta take to start from scratch. - BetweenTheDots
Not sure I see the comparison at all. Nazar is a fast skillful player who, I think, has the potential to put up big numbers, he’s a great forechecker but lacks, or hasn’t shown, the physical game Hagel has. But I’ll tell you who is a similar player, Marek Vanacker. A guy whose nose is always over the puck, who gets in everyone’s business, who is a nuisance to play against, he’s strong as an ox, has skill, is a great skater and can produce. |

Trading out guys for draft picks he’s done an excellent job. But I think he needs to acquire guys who are ready or close to ready to step in, guys that are going to be part of the core, not place holders. Bertuzzi fits that criteria and was a good acquisition. He’s also developing a chemistry with Bedard. TT is similar. But i think KD needs to find guys in the 20 to 25 ish range, if possible. - paulr

Hagel is 3 inches taller and 20 pounds heavier than Nazar. Frankie is best sticking to "hit and run."

I strongly disagree, it just sounds like trying to push a narrative or justification for a trade, but it seemed more to me like we had a small bright point in the kids finding the scoresheet with a couple nice plays.
Overall, we were scrambling trying to keep up with Tampa. They had us running around and our D coverage was often picked apart. I'm not disagreeing with the team's effort, they try hard, but painting it as some big difference with one player sick and out of the lineup. Come on. It wasn't a great game. It was our team lacking top 4 D and Top 6 forwards trying to desperately keep up with an opponent with more speed (both foot and moving the puck).
Tampa's forwards had our slower lumbering guys on the back end struggling at times. - breadbag
No- actually the Hawks had Tampa scrambling to keep up with them - particularly in the 2nd period. I didn't watch the 3rd period much apart from like the last 5 minutes.
In fact I would go so far as to disagree with that entirely Bread. Our guys had -them- on the back foot, and it was pretty wild. The problem was, is they didn't exactly know what to do with it after doing that. (Not entirely like a dog chasing a cat - because it was instinctual, but had no actual idea of what the hell to do with it if they did catch it...). And Tampa's were definitely struggling to keep up - hell they had them bottled in the Tampa zone for about 3 shifts where they just couldn't get off- it was nearly like Kane-Panarin vs the Islanders early on in 2015-16 season level. Frankly it was a little shocking -as I had become accustomed to sleeping through games- where the team goes and turtles in a defensive shell - allowing the other teams to do what they want.
D coverage picked apart? Ok well keep in mind the veteran presence consisted of Martinez and Brodie, Vlasic if you want to be generous (and I don't count him as a vet. Considering they had 1 semi-experienced guy, a guy playing his first game, another rookie, and a guy in his second season where it looks like he might have established himself as an NHL player instead of not one ... that should be happening, especially on a team with guys like Kucherov on it.
Narrative to justify a trade? You mean Hall? I imagine you are probably meaning Jones, but from my point of view it had nothing to do with either; Hall has not been an impact player (questionable if you can have an impact player on a bottom feeding team).
Jones? I dunno - but in my mind, it ends up being, if he wants to go somewhere else, then ok - you have to deal with that as a potential adjustment to be made (and of course no one on here is going to know that ... so you cannot really do a pre-emptive hypothetical rationalisation of something that may not ever happen). Well not the ratlionalisation/perspective thing about moving a guy who may not want to move unless the guys ends up moving.

So your Dad's 3rd cousin --- and your 4th cousin - if you're going that far, you might just as well go all of the way.

Watching the Kitchener Rangers and Erie Otters to see Jack Pridham. Ty Henry, Chicago’s sixth round pick is a monster. He’s listed at 6’4 210 but the announcers think he may be closer to 230. He a decent skater. I’d like to see him on a wing. |

Let's look at the KFC trade record: PICK SWAPS and PLAYER SWAPS
6/29/2023 PICK SWAP
To CHI - 2024 2nd (Traded), Oscarson
To PHI - C. Bjarnason
TBD - Traded a 2nd for a lower 2nd the next year and got an extra 6th. Oscarson would have to be signed this summer, doesn't look like there's a spot for him. The PHI 2nd was traded for a pick used in the Vanacker trade.
6/28/2024 PICK SWAP
To CHI - Vanacker
To CAR - D. Badinka, N. Artamonov
TBD - All prospects right now.
-------------------------
1/5/2022 PLAYER-PLAYER
To CHI - Lafferty
To PIT - Nylander
WIN - Lafferty played well and was included in the TOR trade with McCabe.
6/29/2023 PICK-PLAYER
To CHI - Perry
To TB - J. Connor
LOSS - Ugh. - totem
Damn Totem. Great work! Thanks.

Agree. Bamford in Bleacher Nation teed it up pretty similarly...
You’re trading Taylor Hall for a third round pick. You aren’t a cap ceiling team. Your options are:
Retain $3.0M in cap space, receive a pick between Nos. 85-96 in the 2025 NHL Draft
Retain $4.625M in cap space, receive a pick between Nos. 65-67 in the 2025 NHL Draft. - HawkintheD
This is the right way to view it. And that $1.625 mill is meaningless to the Hawks. If anything, if they keep trading vets, it's that much more cushion above the floor for them. It made the difference to the Canes, though. They have almost no cap space, according to PuckPedia.

When Nazar is on the ice i do isolate on him to see what he does without the puck, he's Lot more like Hagel than you think.
On a separate note looking forward to Vanacker and Lardis making their way up the ranks. |

Per Ben Pope... On Monday, KD to have a news conference and Zoom meeting with STH to discuss his plan moving forward that he thinks will help the team climb out of the rebuild. |

Sorry, I woke up and cannot decipher what STH means unless it is Seth?
Help...I don't read much Ben pope, the new defender of the Blakhawks organization...
SPECTOR’S NOTE: The Blackhawks will have over $32 million in cap space if the ceiling rises to $92.4 million as projected. That’s enough to sign a free-agent superstar in their late twenties or acquire one via trade using their trade capital of draft picks and prospects. |
