At least Saad goes to the net and occasionally wins board battles. I’d take him over Mikheyev, Dlckinson, or Maroon any day. Miss seeing him skate down the wing.
The second Murphy becomes healthy I want to see Kyle working the phones. RHD with ‘real leadership’ (can’t skate) qualities.

He's not anything close to the old Saad. Now he's just old, Saad. He really doesn't do all that much anymore as his speed has fallen off. Mikheyev is the better player at this point IMO.

Unfortunately for you, I think Murphy is struggling with the same thing that kept him out of most of the 2nd half of last year. I doubt he's going anywhere, especially if by some wild hair they find a way to unload Jones.

But, but, but he's 6-4 195lbs.

TBH, I’ve noticed his physicality, who knows. Also, play Allan every game or send him down. Sometimes this organization is really frustrating. I don’t have a problem with a younger player watching from the press box for a game, however Allan has spent too much time there.

Saad going on waivers today. KD NEEDS to make this claim. It’s just too perfect. 😁

Kidding aside, it seems pretty harsh to waive him, even if he's not what he was 10 years ago. I have to wonder if he rejected a trade destination and they are playing hardball with him. Saad has a full NTC clause that becomes partial at season's end, and it's not full NMC. He has another year left, and his hit is $4.5 mill. STL has all three salary retention slots remaining.

The report was that they've been trying to trade him for a while and he did not block any moves. Just no one really interested in trading for him. Probably similar to our guys with over-value contracts.

Thanks for the info. This is his buyout schedule if they (or a team that claims him) go that route this summer: https://puckpedia.com/pla...n-saad/buyout?s=2025-2026 If they were going anywhere this season, I'd guess they'd have tried to shop him with a sweetener to free up space.

If the morning skate lines are accurate, Dach and Allan are taking a seat for the evening with Slaggert filling in for Dach (and Maroon staying in which hurts my soul). and... yes.... Brodie back in. Murphy still not ready.

This is the poop that pisses me off. Why are we benching youngsters for not "doing something" on ice while the vets just get passes. Foligno dumb 4 min penalty cost the Hawks a goal.

Dach is avg over 3 hits a game. Foligno is the next closest forward at a little over 2.5. No one else is close. Dach is going to sit and watch no one else hit anyone on this team?

Mikheyev makes multiple mistakes every period. What has Maroon done to play 44 games this season? I see him coasting all over the ice ever shift. Not sure the last time I saw him actually get down into a skating stance and pump his legs.

I wouldn't get too worked up about this right now. The Hawks aren't just going to sit all the vets the rest of the year, especially when the TDL is coming up.

Also, maybe there was something else in Dach's game that they wanted him to pay more attention to. It's his first call up so there are going to be a few bumps. I'm with you on the overall point that no one should be sat for Maroon to play.

Allan has been getting buried recently, so I get that one a little bit more. Yes, it's brutal that he sits for Brodie, but he needs to find his game again.

Seriously, what the heck was KD thinking when he signed Brodie???

Thank you for walking me off the cliff - maybe KD thought Brodie could be a Trade Deadline asset -he is awful, we probably would have to throw in a 2nd to get rid of him.

We are getting back to my daily routine of deciding of who the Hawks pick, if theget bounced down from current 31/ slotv #2.

And I can watch more of them, sure, but the facts are clear that there are is a defined top four that shuffle through my mind.

Hers's what I think:
When I watch the smaller Chicago-area prospect currently driving play in Montreal by the name of Lane Hutson who drives play and has such a fast pair of hands on the the stickhandle.
I think Matthew Schaefer thinks and drives with that fervor (and maybe how that goal post broke his shoulder...)
I think that Schaefer is bigger, and handles both ends with speed and efficiently.
He has no compunction to stop when he can attack the front with the puck.
It is difficult to try and rethink the Artie Levshunov could have been a forward, but Matt Schaefer just exploded this season to grasp n grab that top spot by looking like the best junior player, and a specially skilled attacker and defender.

He is not a guy you pass on, I think, as much as I do not want more backline logjam.
(No one thought this club was going to have this top four player luxury.)

Since I cannot control the ping pong ball telekinetically, I keep my focus that we pick 4th and who I hope drops to them, and all else is a bonus.

We can debate the point that Porter Martone is there.
Let's use the Duck early 2024 pick Brent Sennecke as the comp.
Martone is big and physcially bullish already, where Sennecke needs more muscle.
But getting this name called where Sennecke was caught mumbling wtf as he hears it.
Does Martone have hands that equal Sennecke's?, b/c if he does, you are getting a future NHL top 6 prospect.
(And this was the easiest to analyze for me of the forwards.)
It's very easy to project Hagens as the best offensive player, albeit one who isn't going to bowl over anyone, but can set up or score and think at a very high level and has had little difficult against bigger college opponents.
(I am not sure how many NHL teams would pass on him if they were in a position to pick the first forward in the shindig.) Can Hagens be an NHL centre effectively at both ends?
Micheal Misa I believe can be. He can start on the wing, and progress to a strong scoring centre and offense generator too b/c he has the tools also.

So currently I am happy with Misa at the Hawks picking at slot #4.

I know when KD was rumored to give up our 1st to CBJs I was glad the jackets decided not to make the deal.

I felt like they needed one more year of drafting in the top 5, better yet they'll at least be drafting in the top 4 this year.

I'll probably be wrong but i think it would of been a big risk to draft Lindstrom and really curious to see how good Demidov will be.

How did Davidson think Brodie was ever worth a contract let alone two years . Well I haven't been paying attention to the Hawks cap situation ,but holly cow Teuvo for two more years Richarderson and Mikleyev another year they are brutal .It makes me question Davidson and whoever ability to judge talent ,the last draft started me wondering like taking Levshunov over Demidov or Sennecke when we have a lot of Dman in the wings .Its starting to look like we should have taken the forwood last year and the Dman this year . Even the selection Korchinski seems like a reach, I know this is all 20/20 hindsight . Kasper looking pretty good with Detroit .

Hahaha slim pickings. That or complain about the usual suspects

Seriously though look at Maroon Donato or Richardinson or Smith's hits. No reason Dach should be singled out and riding the bench for a game. He's a rookie trying to stay in the NHL. Pretty sure if you tell him go hit more guys tonight, he's gonna go hit guys.

I am confused by Brodie because his hands are just gone. He's lost a step but he's lost his hands almost completely. Seems like a guy who doesn't care, probably did nothing all offseason, and is just collecting a few more pay checks cause he's on the 18th hole of his career (fried egg in a fairway bunker kind of 18th hole).

Allan has played 40 games in the best league in the world, he's probably dinged up and getting a press box day here and there not a bad thing for the rookie.

I didn't like Reichel not playing at all to begin the season, but don't find anything wrong with sitting Dach, coaching him, developing him, i think we'll see a lot of this over the next couple of years.

We need to play the vets, they can mentor the kids on how to play a disciplined game.
