Could be, but gotta give up something to get something. I like all 25 of our Kiddie D corp but can't be scared of trading the wrong guy. - rpeters01
Speak for yourself! I do like the thought if keeping at least one of Allan or EDM. Need some nasty on the backend. I like that Crevier has added that to his game as well. |

More D prospects that turn into NHL guys or look like they will be means the Hawks have a better chance of this rebuild working. Can usually get a kings ransom for young quality Dmen. Unless you’re the Avs that is… |

From the Athletic. Salary Cap to rise for the next 3 years. Don't see how this will help the Hawks. All the players that recently signed 8 year deals are going to be kicking themselves.

I’d like to keep both of Allan and EDM, they could make a formidable third pair. With Vlasic, Rinzel, Crevier, KK, Levshunov, Kaiser, and others that will be drafted, it will be difficult to keep them all, but is that a bad thing? The challenge for KD is identifying which to keep and which ones to move. |

That's a nice add for them.
Slide right into the 3rd line. Another forward with lots of playoff experience. Gonna be a tough matchup in the West again. |

Both Allan and Del Mastro sitting tomorrow as Murphy draws back in. The only youngsters on D are Vasic and Crevier. Time to trade a ver or two. |

I expect Martinez to be traded. Probably impossible to trade two vets we only have one Salary slot left. |

Sigh. No reason to sit Allan. My unsubstantiated and uneducated opinion is there is front office meddling b/c they want to win more games so there is some pressure to play the vets. No reason Martinez Brodie Jones and Murphy need to be in the lineup together.
I can't imagine Davidson ripping into the team is helpful at all. We've all been there. A boss that has no idea how to do your job rips into you to do your job better.....that never goes over well and definitely falls on deaf ears.
I'd be fine with Jones and 5 kids on the backend the rest of the year.

I can't see a path to moving more than one of Martinez, Murphy, Brodie and Jones. I think you have to count Maroon in there as well. |

They would all require salary retention unless waived? - rpeters01
Well, Saad and the Blues both agreed to termination of contract, can the Hawks do the same with Brodie? Probably not, but you never know. |

I guess the owners with all the seperate businesses to divert nhl team profits can only hide so much money from the NHL players, good news for the NHL players

Why salary retention? Unless I missing something, which is likely, the Hawks don’t have to retain salary? |

Fun game to watch tonight, Halifax at Chicoutimi, Chicoutimi eventually ran away with it 8-3. Some interesting players in this one:
Alonso Gosselin, Chicoutimi, (2025 eligible), 6-1, 196, LD, CS #124, Wiz NR, 40-2-5-7 - 1G tonight
Gosselin was well on his way to a Gordie Howe hat trick with an early goal and a fight. However, he got a game misconduct at the same time as the fight and his night was over.
Emile Guite, Chicoutimi, 6-2, 174, LW, CS #61, Wiz #68, 41-11-8-19 - 1G tonight
Guite was about a point-per-game player last year, but has had a down year. He was in the mix all game, and spent a lot of time in front of the net in the o-zone. Got a goal and had several chances. Think he was expected to be a late first rounder, but might be available later in the draft.
Alex Huang, Chicoutimi, 6-0, 161, RD, CS #90, Wiz #64, 45-3-16-19 - 1G tonight
Huang was skating and handling the puck well all night, and got a goal. Good speed, was able to easily walk the line on the PP. Nice low hard shots from the point. Down in scoring from last year when he had 36 points in 61 games.
Nathan Lecompte, Chicoutimi, 5-10, 165, RC, CS #204, Wiz #179, 42-11-24-35 - 1G tonight
Legacy story here. Eric Lecompte was a Round 1 pick for Chicago in 1993 (#23 overall) - LW, 6-5, 190. Eric scored about a point-per-game in the QMJHL, and also had impressive PIM there (149-169-223 in 3 years in the Q). Played for Indy for a while but never in the NHL. Played a long time in Switzerland too - scored and racked up PIM everywhere.
Son Nathan plays at Chicoutimi now. He is a lot smaller than his dad, but has good speed and likes to go to the net. Scored a goal close in on a rebound. Seems like a good scorer with speed but needs some developing. Might be a candidate for one of the late round picks.
Alec Nasreddine, Halifax, 5-11, 183, LW, CS NR, 45-0-3-3 -
This is the son of Alain Nasreddine who got a cup of coffee for the Blackhawks long ago - Alain got prodigious PIM everywhere (775 PIM in 4 years in the Q) but didn't score much. Alec has not scored or gotten PIM so far - it looks like this is his draft year but he is not ranked.
Liam Kilfoil, Halifax, 5-11, 176, LC, CS #96, Wiz #142, 44-16-16-32 - 1G 1A tonight
Kilfoil was attacking and in deep most of the night and got 2 points. Was watching others so did not follow him closely.

Depending on what happens in the draft (say the Hawks take Schaefer), you could potentially add KK to that list. - HawkintheD
KK gets more time in Rockford.

Nolan, Crevier and hopefully EDelM are potential trade chips this summer unlike the last offseason. I think it would take a real player coming back to get KD to breakup Crevier and Vlasic - Rpeters01
I expect to see BOTH Nolan Allan & DelMastro in the future, filling the two of the Rearguard Cap Salaries of part of the 4 through 6 spots. You cannot pay your "Six Pillars" of defense huge percentages of the Cap space, so you have to choose & fill and also hit home runs with you youngsters but "no one before their time."
Can we possibly start 2025-26 with Jones, Brodie and the kids Vlasic, Allen, Crevier,
and any pro or DelMastro...Rockford is a quite commute, my way of not selecting a defenseman and being cute.
I am imaging what college forwards besides defenseman Sam Rinzel end up in Rockford. I think Artie Levshunov, Kevin Korchinski, and Wyatt Kaiser with see big minutes.
And I doubt Lil Frankie Nazar or Landon Slaggert see the Icehogs locker room agian.
College forward Aiden Thompson coming or does he start up top in the bigs?
How about collegian Ryan Greene ?
Is there a slot for Martin Misiak?
(I have the Blackhawks taking his younger brother Alex this 2025 draft...
P Ludwinski, Sam Savoie, and i very well could see Colton Dach and or Lukas Reichel with any other picks that go pro...where's that leave Gavin Hayes or Dom James, or the A.J. Spellacy signed developmental period would need some escalating. |

I think you should see what you have before you trade them. I would never do what some teams do. I would not trade Rinzel or any young player who hasn't played in a Blackhawk sweater to see what we got unless i was certain they weren't going to be a top player in the NHL.
Scared has nothing to do with it, it is a smart business move. |
