I will say if these projections of the salary cap are true, i think this gives the Blackhawks an ability to be aggressive. I expect them to make at least one move for a top 6 forward by the start of next season. |

The cap going up will be a huge advantage for many teams who are currently up against it. The Hawks will need to make a serious pitch and financial offer to any potential FA they will target to come to Chicago.
I went to the game in Rockford last night and it was the first time I have seen Levshunov play live. I am so happy the Hawks drafted him. He is an absolute beast and when the time is right for him to come up, he is going to be a huge piece for Hawks moving forward. He was def in a bad position on the Wolves first goal and that was probably on him, but after his penalty early in the first, I thought he was outstanding. He is smooth with bringing the puck up, makes quick decisions with passes (his passes were all tape-to-tape), and you can tell that his instincts (especially offensively) are outstanding (constantly looking to join the rush). Is he young and going to make mistakes as he learns? Absolutely. But thinking about him as he gets into his early to mid-20s and is surrounded by other strong talents? I can't wait to see what he looks like.
Korchinski can fly. I am also excited to watch his progression over the next few seasons. The guy sitting next to me at the game talked about how Lev and Korch were busts and I had to remind him that they are 19 and 20 years old. Chicago doesn't need them right now to be anything more than what they are... two young defensemen who are building in Rockford. When Korchinski grows and fills out, his game is going to get to the next level.
As a Blackhawks fan, watching those two last night was awesome and made me feel hopeful. GO HAWKS![/img] |

Dallas Stars working on a deal to acquire Mikael Granlund from #SJSharks, per @KevinWeekes. #TexasHockey
Not sure how reliable the account is but this is crazy. Wondering what Dallas will send them?
Seems like the Blackhawks could have had JT Miller or Kakko. At least from the returns that Van and NYR got for them. Still wondering if he inquired at all or just sat on his ass?
Edit: Friedman just confirmed it is happening, didn't mention any pieces though |

Following up on @KevinWeekes report, Sharks and Stars have been talking for some time in Granlund. Things intensified last night. SJ has had interest in tall Dman Lian Bichsel in past, we’ll see if he’s in the mix or not.
Wonder if this still goes down or if it has changed? |

JT miller has a full NT- he was definitely not waiving to come to Chicago.
Kakko I would have taken a flier on. And we do not know if Davidson made an offer or not. Maybe they offered Phillips and 2 picks (they did not have a 3rd at the time of the trade) and it was turned down. Or maybe he thinks Kakko will not amount to anything.
Situation in Dallas is interesting. Lundkvist is out for the season, Seguin on LTR (probably until the playoffs). They need D and scoring. Can we pay them to take Seth? Granlund makes sense- having a pretty good season, and his contract expires this year. $5 million would not be hard to absorb for Dallas.

Granlund and Ceci to Dallas for their 2025 1st and 4th.(I think SJS now has 3 1st round picks.) The race to the playoffs arm race continues. I expect TOR, WSH, WPG, LA to add sooner or later. Donato would be a good 3C 4C and Martinez a depth D for someone.

If good looking it was my wife, definitely not me.
Edit - had a good look at Slaggert’s goal as I’m ten rows behind Bobvrosky, unfortunately not much action down here after that. |

Jones taking a nap. Guess this team goes as the young kids go.
The champs are just smothering them no time no space. |

If the Hawks look half as good as this Panthers team 2 years from now, I'll consider the rebuild a success. |

I realized, after seeing the final score today, that watching the Blackhawks is akin to dating the hottest girl in high school. You know that she is going to break up with you after you wrote her final paper, and it is heartbreaking. Now, all you can do is look forward to the next one. |

Nice to see that the Hawks decided not to show up on national broadcast. Just watching the game today Hawks need more speed physicality size and nastiness in the lineup imo. Whether that comes from within or through trades or via free agency those areas need to be addressed. I believe some of those areas will be addressed from within. Just not enough pushback. |

Just 2 teams at the opposite ends of the league. Valuable minutes for any of the kids playing. I recall when we were winning Stanley Cups Florida had maybe 5000 fans coming to the games. It's their time to shine but i don't believe it'll be Buffalo long or oiler long or new jersey long before we start to improve as a team.

Actually got to watch the game on tv. Set a franchise record for fastest goal scored.
Really miss not being able to see all of the games.

For those that are hesitant to trade certain players, this passage from Pronman highlights a specific challenge that KD will run into assuming more than one of his picks hit their ceiling.
Seamus Casey or Simon Nemec, RHD, New Jersey
It feels like something has to give with this situation for the Devils. They have a great team, a great blue line and too many strong power-play candidates between Dougie Hamilton, Luke Hughes, Nemec and Casey. There will be a market for both Casey and Nemec, and while having a lot of great defensemen is an envious luxury, at some point, there are diminishing returns if they can’t play the role they will be maximized in. Nemec’s play hasn’t been great this year, but the 2022 No. 2 pick could still be a good NHL player, whereas Casey has impressed as a rookie pro elevating his trade value. |

The fastest two goals will always be 17 seconds in Boston even if it's not really the record. |
