Unfortunately they said he is only up to practice with the NHL squad and they don't expect him to play any games.

Ahhh... I pulled this from another site and didn't read the whole release.
Maybe the concussion was from the awkward fall into the boards behind the net against the Canes, maybe (or TB)? He got right back up though. |

I'm sure it was the boarding in the last game vs Florida. He got nailed and didn't return (played less than 3 minutes). |

#12 got him on the chin/jaw with his shoulder.

Yeah, not sure if it was the initial shoulder, or his head slamming into the boards after the hit. Either way, not good for the big guy. Hopefully it's not too serious. |

Are you referring to Vanacker? - Assman22
Any of them, it's easy to dismiss a 3rd round pick, but what if Lardis becomes a player like Verhaege? 3rd round pick that took a while to develop. Damn good player on a SC team. |

Thanks.
I missed the first 30 minutes of the game due to the early early start so that makes sense. |

Looking at the guys coming up soon, this is how I see them (goalies omitted, no one knows what the hell is going on there) - granted, I've seen a ton more AHL than anything else.
Pretty sure they'll stick (have fostered a mostly complete game, compete hard most/every shift, have been able to generate scoring):
Greene
Moore
Vanacker
Boisvert
Slaggert
Kantserov
KK
Lev
Rinzel
Not sure, but they got good tools or one specific great skill:
Dach
Lardis
Spellacy
James
Thompson (not sure if him being so much older is why he's scoring so much)
Savoie
Pharand
Pridham
Mustard (I've seen one good game and one bad - not really enough to form opinion)
EDM
Allan
Crev
Henry (I have seen none of his games, but am relying on 2nd hand accounts)
Gonna need to really make a jump in the next couple years to make it.
Hayes
Ludwinski (he's fallen off a bit)
Stjernborg
Misiak
Felcman
Marcel
Harding
Kelley
Totem/paulr/Boiler anyone else have comments or thoughts on where you would put these guys. I'd ask wiz, but he always sounds so busy.

I can give you my phone number.
Without saying more, I have been gifted the ability to watch every game of all three
Canadien Junior leagues...and my draft board that is public shows much of the 7th round empty.
And my 2025 rendition of a mock has 20 plus slots empty in the 7th Rd. and the sixth Rd mock players are sketchy at best.
I figure big defender Tagie Harding is a decision too...like can we get something for him in the future b/c the backline logjam begins with a decison on him!
We will see if Stjernborg is even offered a look-see.
Alex Pharand is also a 50/50 as he is good in the dot, understands how a 200 foot game is played, but so far the skills to do so at the higher level hasn't appeared.
Jiri Felcman
Marcel Marcel
are borderline,
where Mustard, Pridham are keepers to see if they start to percolate and develop.
Great.
Now my Mock is gone from the siute and from the data !

Sure, it's possible. Davey Boy Bolland was a 2+ points per game player in his final OHL season (130pts, 59g) but never made the top 6 or really score much in the NHL. I will point out Vanacker was 17th in OHL in pts last season with a horribly bum shoulder and top scorer on Brantford. Missed half the games they've played thus far this season after shoulder surgery but playing well.
Lots can change in a short time in amateur hockey. Look at Lardis. 98th in points last season but had a strong finish including 8 points in 6 playoff games and this season he's #2 in points. If you remove stats from being the primary factor, look no further than Spellacy who I think everyone thinks is having a great season but on the stat sheet he's 126th in points this season yet he has a lot of room to grow and could certainly see him in a top 6 spot down the road. |

IMO Bolland is an odd example because he absolutely had the skill to play in the top 6. His best season with the Hawks he was 2C with Ladd/Havlat and that was pretty much our most consistent line most of that season. From like 2008 to 2013 he was pretty much our 5th most played forward behind the big 4 of Toews,Kane,Sharp,Hossa and got the tough assignments in the match up and deployed defensively. He may have lined up as our 3rd line C, but he was a top 6 forward on our team and when he was out there with the offensive players, he could still produce. |

Sure but Bolland didn't possess an NHL shot. I'm excited about Spellacy cause he commited to dedicating himself to hockey 4 years ago, excelled at football so bringing a mix of speed, size and football mentality on a hockey rink how exciting. By the way Lardis missed quite a few games last year like Vanacker did this year, so it is kind of hard to be in the top 20 to 25 in scoring if you miss a significant amount of games.
As you say a lot can change but i think they are trying to develop all these kids at their own rate. I know many of them won't make it but the ones that do i think will be really effective hockey players.
I don't know how this will look in the end but I've said this before, i loved the draft pick Rinzel, many said to early, but when you are on your 3rd pick in the 1st round before 7 other teams even had a chance to pick and you take a raw player like that but has size, skating ability, booming shot and is a RDman, it's a risk not to draft a kid like that. He's done that with many kids in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. |

Off topic, but does anyone know if he is playing center or wing? I thought I read somewhere that it was center.
One thing that is really interesting is that a majority of the Hawks prospects are playing in all situations. If I'm not mistaken, Lardis' first goal last night was a shorty. |

Who is everyone's guess for first college player signed this year to get into games. Basically, which college teams will get eliminated first.
I'm going with Moore and Rinzel. MIN just seems a bit streaky to me. BU is more complete, and Denver is just really good. |

Dominic James has had a nice year at UMD but they are not ranked. Probably if they decide to sign him he will go to Rockford though.
Not sure if North Dakota will get in the tournament. Has Boisvert been good enough to bring him out after 1 college year?
Hoping for Minnesota - Boston U - Providence - Denver Frozen Four. Kyle can show up there with a briefcase full of contracts.

He has been taking a lot of draws so I assume he's mostly playing center. He was 3/9 yesterday.

I've seen a number of football guys on skates. When young they overpower guys and blow right through. But when the physicality gets on even ground these guys don't tend to have developed the hockey IQ that's necessary to be very successful at the higher levels. Mostly they chase the play around and rarely catch up. Most of the time they struggle to be playmakers. Hope this guy is different.

Its not like he just started playing hockey. He did both but I would guess enjoys playing hockey more and decided to put all his training/work into hockey instead of constantly re-shaping his body.

It's been such a solid season for the Hawks prospect in the NCAA. I am not sure if any of them make the jump directly and stick into the start of next year. Like I could see some of these guys getting a shot to play games down the stretch this year, but start next season in the AHL like Nazar and Slaggart did.
If I had to guess Boisvert plays NCAA again next season, just based on him being a 2+ years younger than most of the other guys, James, Moore, Rinzel, Thompson, and Green. Just IMO, I think based on age and number of years played in college.
Most likely to leave NCAA to go Pro- James, Green, Thompson
Maybe leaving NCAA to go Pro - Rinzel, Moore
Probably staying NCAA - Boisvert.
Obviously it is a case by case basis and what the player wants factors into it too, if they want to finish college, etc.. |

James and Thompson were teamamtes in the USHL
James is done with the NCAA after this season so his choice is Hawks or UFA.

Last week I had a long Zoom meeting, where they wanted me to come up with a new set for each player, that added stuff (like their current team) who I have taking them in the mock, and where they ranked in the d, c, lw, rw ...are they #5 rw (even if they are a lhRW...
so i created solid examples from the 2025 crop.
One of the recent trades included a 7th round pick ... in 2028, and 2028 was added yet.
I am a real stickler that my trades have the correct team whose pick got traded, and many tarded a 2nd & 3rd time so it is important to rounds / teams accurate.
I mentioned in an email that I was unable to add 2028 to the list (like I had added the years 2027,2026 etc.) and then today 2028 IS there but 2025 is gone.
And further more its absence changed any 2025 picks that were traded all CHANGED in the tarde section to 2028 since 2025 is no longer there.
Anyway, if they cannot resurrect 2025, I will be damned if I am going to re-do it...and I was entered the admin to add more draftees and got this surprise...so I power washed the concrete next to my pool cage instead.
