I know goalies can be a fickle group but Soda is looking really really good this year, great 1st period.

Slaggert with a good first. Checked McDavid pretty well a few times.

EDM needs to put that shot on net coming clean down the slot.

Overall, pretty decent. Poor Brodie just doesn't know where to go with the puck.

That might be the end of Richardinson for the season, didn't look good. Maybe it won't be as bad as it looked, but looked pretty bad.

Murphy hopefully just went down with a balls injury rather than groin but didn’t look good

I didn't agree with Messier's assessment that Bedard should have been sat after the effort on the Florida goal, but if Richardinson wasn't injured, he certainly should have been sat for a few shifts for that stupid ass blind backhand pass near the blueline.

Thought on the replay it looked like he got hit on the point of the knee with the shot.

It’s kind of funny watching Bedard sometimes. Complete teenager still. Tries going 1 on 3 doesn’t work. You can tell he gets mad at himself b/c he knows better. Couple shifts later the teenager in him can’t resist trying the same thing again.

Think some of his bad habits he will just grow out of. He’s got the hockey IQ.

The hawks will spend the time from the trade deadline to summer looking for a centre either vet or younger....

Not sure what feed you have but the Edmonton announcers basically said he’s got similar numbers as McDavid at the same time in their career but Bedard just doesn’t have any help like McDavid had with Draisaitl. I’m sure Bedard knows he can’t/shouldn’t do the things he’s trying, but what other options does he have?

Sure but he can stop:
Stick reaching
blind backhanders while pressured
spin-o-rama passes with no pressure on him
neglecting to shoot when he as an open opportunity.

All players get into trouble when they, try to do too much or don’t trust their teammates.

Of the things you brought up the one thing that drives me nuts is the reaching in. Someone needs to tell him to use his body to impede the progress of the opposition.

On the brighter side of things, Reichel is playing inspired. Slaggert - if he keeps this up - is really noticeable. EDM playing well, and Murphy wasn't sidelined by the unfortunate ding.

Jones with another solid game thus far.

Every site I’ve seen has KK at 6’ 1”, and he may be near NHL ready. But my question was hypothetical,

If the Hawks were to draft Schaefer do you think they should just keep all of the defensive prospects?

- paulr

Google has KK 6'-3" Wikipedia 6'-2". I'm not convinced Schaefer in Juniors is better than Lev in college and the AHL and KK now in the AHL. Not sure who I trade until I see Schaefer play pro games?

Murphy is ready for the glue factory. He can go with Brodie.

Thy young legs for Chicago's forwards are going pretty well right now against a kind of tired Oilers team. Nice to see 91, 84 and 73 flying out there lately.

Maroon might be a nice guy but his hockey days are well behind him. EDM played a nice game and good for Reichel scoring in front of his parents. Jones need glasses and poor TT. He comes within inches of winning the game and then he loses it by jumping on the ice to soon.

Enjoyed the game ,great effort against a tough foe .Poor Teravainen should have won the game ,then trying a little to hard cost him . Just a tough break . Liked the play of a lot of the kids ,would have like to have seen Allan out there instead of the 3 wheeled shopping cart Brodie .Bedard was working hard, maybe trying too do to much ,got in a little trouble . Nazar & Slaggert looking good .Liked most of Del Mastro game ,watched him with the Sting ,he was very good . Big jump to the NHL from Jr. ,glad he had a year in the A .Keep hearing Cozens name and the Hawks ,I was all for him when we took Dach can't say I was disappointed . I had Dach as #2 . I love to see Cozens join the Hawks ,Maybe we could deal KK and something to get the Workhorse from Whitehorse Go Hawks !!

Allan really needed a reset. He's regressed noticeably with his decision making and his overall play. I've been high on him since he was drafted because I lean heavily on defensemen who can play defense. He'll get back in soon.

I know I am in the minority on this board. But I do not see Bedard as a 1C or as a Captain. Some of the criticisms we are hearing now from Messier and Bissonette are legit. I know he is only 19 and he will improve his game in many different aspects. He has a terrific shot. He sees the game well. He will get stronger. He will get a little better at faceoffs. But he shies away from contact like Kaner and TT. (self preservation) His body language and facial expressions are not strong, tough or inspiring. His interviews are ho hum. Similar to TT. Kaner was much more charismatic, even as a rookie. Not being a captain is perfectly alright. Some people are just not cut out for that role. I don't see him defending the opponents 1C on the road when we do not have the last change. I don't see him carrying a team on his back in a long playoff run. With a better supporting cast I think he will score more. I can see him scoring 30 to 40 goals with 50 to 60 assists, many of those on the powerplay. There is nothing wrong with that. It is elite. (Kane scored more than 90 points only three times in his career and for his career is a plus 5.) They have prospects and a high draft pick this year. But as we know none of those are sure things, I hope they can add a couple really good top 6 players to Bedard, Nazar, TT and Bertuzzi. Because as it stands now the Hawks top 6 are only draft lottery quality.
