The post-game tonight should be interesting. Would love if they could get a few words from KD today as well.

Fwiw - when Jones was injured, they did just fine 'eating those missing minutes'.

I will not miss those poopty slo-mo super deep push 'em back entry passes that he sucked at so much ... nothing killed a PP entry into the O-zone after a clear like a 'fancy Jonesian' push 'em back half assed attempt.

Bon Voyage, Seth.

The condition on the first round pick in the Seth Jones trade: it’s a 2026 first going to Chicago but if Florida ends up not having that pick then it moves to a 2027 first round pick which goes to the Blackhawks instead. So Chicago getting either the ‘26 or ‘27 first rounder.

Not sure I've ever seen something like this before. What does that mean? That Flarida can trade their '26 1st rounder by next Friday if they want?

Edit: Boisvert with another goal tonight

Put a goalie in the press box? to what benefit? You just have to carry one less F or D.

3 goalies has never worked in the NHL. Becomes a nightmare during practice. But I get that Knight was too good to pass up. Is Soda waiver exempt?

I step away to do some pull ups and listen to Bill Murray on Rogan (starts off with a funny Hunter S. Thompson story) and I see Jones has been sent packing??

2.6 retained? For five years..yikes! I figure the first 2-3 years the 2.6 shouldn't have an impact much..not sure about later though.

Plus,goalie log jam in Chicago?
Is Brossoit hurt more than they thought? He's basically been on sick leave all year. Or,do they have a move in place for Mrazek or Soda?

It's true what they say, can't please all of the people all of the time but in this fans eyes what a great great move

I would imagine they have all the way up until their pick in the draft order in '26 to trade the pick or not.

You're right
Someone else posted that will be a salary for a 4th liner. So most likely no biggie.
IF we are lucky, and the Blackhawks are really good in 3-4 years, then it might be a bit of a problem to work around, but the next 2 years it won't impact them at all with them just trying to get to the floor.

Speaking of cap floor ... Kyle is probably going to try to send a lot of $$$ towards Rantanen or Marner (though I don't think they'll sign in Chi like some people mentioned earlier in the thread)... So he'll throw some extra cash at Ehlers and Boeser etc..

I'm not an accountant but i think it's broken down on where they play each game, so maybe 1 game per season.

Speaking of Rantenen, if he doesn’t sign in Carolina they’re going to have to move him. And it’s unlikely they’ll get full value. I’m surprised Carolina made the trade without ensuring he was open to signing there.

Read the response from others on HB- think it’s a terrible trade for the hawks.
- Revco38

Jealous .the retention about half what I thought we be stuck with . I was expecting something like a 3rd 4 mil retained .So I am very happy to get that cancer off the team ,they always seemed to play better when he out. Get KK up here to run the not so bad PP and see what we have in the kids .

I would really like them to trade and get a young top 6 forward, but Id be okay if KD signed 2 more players of Bertuzzi and TTs ability, 2 more NHL caliber players who can score 40 to 60 points and play decent defensively.

That way you'd have 4 top 9 players which would make line combinations much more interesting and easier I'd assume for a real coach (not Ders).
And you have Bedard and Nazar(who is more and more looking like a top 6 fwd).

Arty somehow with 3 shots in the 1st period for the piggies

Just saw this on twitter/x whatever you wanna call it

HNIC Saturday Headlines: “It appears unlikely Rantanen will make a (contract) decision by the trade deadline”. Elliotte thinks it takes a couple days for Carolina to make a decision on keeping/trading.

Guess they can carry 3 goalies and make all of them grumpy. What could they get for Soderblom before the deadline?

I went thrpough every teams future watch prospects today and I simply didn't see kids polished enough that their Cup appearing teams were gonna trade for Jones.

This is quite the accomplishment. The draft suddenly isn't all about more goalie prospects after the first rounder.\and another 1st rounder in 2026 or 2027 ?

Kinda more than I expected.

Definitely not. May have to work with 3 goalies for the rest of the year. Don't see how Mrazek can be traded by the deadline as he is signed for next year too.

I thought there was good value in Jones at around 6 mil per. I think the cap projections help too. 6.5 mil ish per year for #2 or #3 is pretty avg or will be in a few years.

Your mock at lines.com had the Hocks taking a goaler with the Tor pick.

Did you watch Knight at all, after your notes on him from the 2019 draft up to today?
Is he just going to take a bit longer to develop like Crawford did?

Yep, would like them to keep Soderblom, however without a retention spot, I don’t see Mrazek being moved unless KD adds a sweetener. Next man up, Donato.

I so hate that Maroon and Smith are on this team. The team struggles for shots and they pass up two prime opportunities.

I know it is pointless to complain about right now, but FFS just play simple hockey.

Kaiser had a nice 1st.

Or just takes back a bad contract. He could send him to EDM for Jeff Skinner's or E. Kane's contract for example.
