With the cap going up, the Hawks are not going to be in any kind of cap crunch unless KD just completely poops himself giving out FA money. Certainly could happen, but I don't really see it.

They have so many young guys coming up that they should be able to buffer themselves from that situation.

Most the forwards 2-3 years away. By the time the Hawks need the 2.5 mil it will be off the books. Not something to be concerned over. If the Hawks need the 2.5 before that then things have gone really well or some very bad contract were handed out.
