Yeah, the good stuff like that never happens for teams I like.

Man Bertuzzi is either amazing or a nightmare.

Nice win by the boys tonight.

Just a bonus to tonight with Jones launched, boys didn't miss him at all.

I kept thinking how is KD going to dump that bumb who constantly makes unforced errors.

The rebuild is real to me now he got rid of the final crap hand he was dealt.

Speaking of Jones- I wonder how Bob will like having to fish him out of his net when he blows a breakaway ... the dude was a human curling stone. Not least because it also usually involved fishing the puck out of there as well.

Surprised you’re still posting after a win. Not your MO. I’ll be more plain in my language and you can too. No mods.

I hope KD gets really bold in the summer and offer sheets one of Wyatt Johnson, JJ Peterka, Matthews Knies or Mason McTavish.

Perterka and McTavish would be matched (buffalo and Anaheim nowhere near the cap- although grumblings here is SoCal McTavish could be traded- he’s having a down year).

Kneis is interesting and depending what Toronto does w/Marner and Tavares might not take that much to sign him to a number out of their range.

Dallas will not let Johnston go unless it’s a crazy deal. Benn’s $9 mil + comes off the books as do a few other deals. Can always dream as he would be my preference of the 4 but not likely.

I know it's only against Anaheim but the pep in the Blackhawks step is noticeable now that Jones is gone.

Was shocked to see the Ducks were a game over 500 coming into this game.

Definitely not. May have to work with 3 goalies for the rest of the year. Don't see how Mrazek can be traded by the deadline as he is signed for next year too.

So maybe the answer is that CHI flips Knight for a forward.

Not a bad game, but it looked more like the Ducks played bad at times more than we played "that" well to be honest.

AA still kind of sucks. Bertuzzi is cold right now, not doing much. Our "Top" line was pretty meh.

Murphy was -2 but overall played pretty well again. Felt bad that Kaiser followed up his nice goal by being completely beat on the Ducks goal.

Yes the Hawks will miss Jones, still nobody to replace him on the roster. He served a purpose. Yes the Hawks miss Richardinson, he takes some hard minutes from others and plays them well in general when healthy.

Donato if he keeps producing here might (with luck) even net them a late first round pick or perhaps a 2nd and something else, maybe like a 2nd and 3rd/4th. Or maybe some combination with a young player.

The way things are going lately, Turbo might end up leading the Hawks in scoring by year end. Since Sorensen took over coaching he is 22nd in NHL scoring with 34 points in 34 games. Bedard is 42nd with 30 points in 34 games. Donato is 3rd in that span with 28 points in 34 games. I'm just saying, not bad for Turbo considering he was deployed often lately on the checking 3rd line, but doing his damage also on the PP.

Mrazek has been spotty this season but could see them flipping him for whatever before the TDL.

Knight might be their long term answer in goal.

I’m thinking that Mrazek is going to be hard to move, especially without retention. Maybe they retain 50% this summer. It wouldn’t hurt to place him on waivers, maybe some team will bite.

They just found a taker for Jones and retaining less than $3M in salary. Idk if they can retain on another player but if Mrazek clears he’d make a great Ice Hog.

Hahaha, a popular reporter seems to agree with many of the unhappy campers here about our rebuild.

The only flaw in his argument is, which i don't think he points this out, no GM has been this aggressive in a rebuild. Oh and he lost me at we lost a valuable player in Seth Jones, he may write about hockey but he sure don't know it.

He did have us drafting Misa which i would not be disappointed about at all. I know Zito did a great job but he had a good foundation to work with.

Not rooting against Florida but Seth Jones is really not that good of a hockey player. I for one am glad he's gone.

Why. He's got plenty of draft picks. All it would come down to would be if he thought the compensation required to make the matching team flinch is actually worth the player.

With the cap going up, there will be far fewer teams that will be up against the cap an put in the compromising position that EDM was in last summer. I'd say the issue would be more about whether the Hawks would be able to put an offer together that would sufficiently pressure the other team.

It's not just about cap space. There are some teams that have internal caps that won't go above specific numbers regardless of how much space they have.

LAzerus is likely a BOD poster.

I agree with the sentiment that dealing Jones will be addition by subtraction.

KFC made an actual hockey trade. Whether Knight can be the #1 going forward remains to be seen but I think Davidson did a nice job getting back assets for a player with a big Cap hit who painted him into a corner.

Don’t be surprised if Jones plays well in Florida. He will be utilized as a second pairing defenseman, he is unlikely to get close to the minutes he had in Chicago and I’m sure he’ll stop pouting and try harder in both ends of the ice. Good for him but I’m happy he’s no longer on the team. I never thought KD would get any return for him. It’s very possible Knight becomes the Hawks’ goalie of the future. And with the additional first round pick Davidson has the capital with Toronto and or Florida’s first round picks plus a prospect to make a move on a young NHL forward or to get another top four or five pick in the upcoming draft to try to get two of the top draft picks. Then try to offersheet an RFA forward and perhaps sign a second tier UFA forward and the team should look significantly better next season.

Now who, if anyone, do the Hawks move at the TDL?

I’d say Donato, Smith, Kurashev and Mrazek would be the most likely. If Martinez and Maroon talk to KFC and decide to go for one more Cup maybe them too.

I know it’s a popular trope on this site to talk about how no FA’s will sign here but I think how they’ve dealt with some of the vets might tell a different story.

The top UFA, Rantenen, Marner etc. are very unlikely to sign in Chicago strictly because they’ll want to play on a contender. But I don’t see why the next level of UFAs won’t?
