Tell me again I forget, with Jones gone we hate Brodie or Murphy now?
- rpeters01

Like the Jones trade, however they will probably miss his minutes short term(rest of season), especially if Brodie takes some of them. I’d like for them to have two vets on defense next year, Murphy and someone else not named Brodie. If KD can move Mrazek before the TDL, he’ll be my GM of the year, however next summer is more likely when he regains two retention spots. It’s possible that he can get another cellar dweller to take on some of that salary this week, we’ll see.

You can criticize me for my comments on Bedard. But it is an over reaction. I said I don't think Bedard will be a #1 Center. I do think he could be a top notch winger on the 2nd Line (or line 1B) that scores 80 to 100 points with legit line mates while being on the first power play unit. Similar to Kaner. I don't think he will be a top line winger only because your top line matches up with the other team's top line and you want more 200' players on your top line. Just like Kaner he could be an excellent winger on line #1B and qb on the power play. I am sorry that the notion that he is more like Kaner than McDavid pisses off so many posters.

My comment wasn't directed at your previous thoughts on Bedard. I was echoing your statement that young players often hit a wall which I think Bedard has.

Ultimately, your vision of him can certainly happen. Unquestionably, Bedard is the most talented and highest hockey IQ on the team, but he does have some drawbacks that will limit his ceiling a bit. Size/strength, and top speed being the most notable. I'm not going to pretend I can project what he can ultimately be. There are simply too many unknowns.

I think the issues is you’re claiming he’s going to be like Kane when he’s probably as good as Kane was already and he’s only 19. Imagine how bad a prime Kane would look on this roster. He wouldn’t crack 80pts. The Ducks dZone coverage basically ignored AA last night. They sent 2 guys at Bedard most of the night. I’d say let the kid turn 21 before we make proclamations on his ceiling. His floor right now is Kane ish.

I'm not convinced Broissart ever plays for Chicago.

Why does it have to be a buyout? Isn't Rockford or somewhere else a possibility? They did a version of that with Huet.

Mind you same can go for anyone in a similar situation, can't it?

What if they brought up Lev for a quick taste. Let him see what he needs to work on? What number do you think he would wear?

I don't think Huet ever went to Rockford, we traded him back to France and paid his salary.

I believe you could bury a player's salary in the AHL previosuly, the entire salary.
But with the last lockout I think they put an end to that.

You can send a guy with a huge cap hit to the AHL,but there is an upper limit to how much of a cap hit will be taken off your NHL salary cap. Something along the lines of minimum NHL salary + something something.

So if the Hocks tried to send someone with a 6mil cap hit to the AHL,like 4.5-5mil of the cap hit would still be attached to their NHL roster

Pretty sure you are only allowed to b dry $1M of the cap hit by sending a guy down. The Hawks still have $3.25 agains the cap when AA was down there.

KK switched to 14, Lev is wearing 55 (and I believe he'll keep that in the bigs).

Can't waive someone that's injured so he's been on IR this whole season because of that. Buyout would be cheaper.

Buying both Brodie and Brossoit out this summer would result in a $5M hit next year and a $1M hit in 26-27. Probably not a really big deal depending on what KD has in store for this offseason.

Correct. He’ll have the wiggle room so it won’t hurt but he’ll also need to explain that to his daddy Danny.

True- I meant they managed to bury him and not play him is all, and then you get into the - is it best to pay the expiring contract as opposed to spreading it out over several years?

All things being equal, if they don't need the money next season -isn't it better just to get the contract over with, if you are only talking about next season? It isn't entirely about cap efficiency in the sense of spreading out a cap hit or getting a cleaner slate, sooner -leastwise that's the accountant in me thinking.

Full/partial cap hit- not being as big a deal as not taking up NHL playing time and displacing someone else.

Just listened to the Roumeliotis post trade breakdown with Boyle. Boyle stated that Jones gave KD two teams to work with, Dallas and FLA. Dallas apparently had no interest, so KD was negotiating with one team. Gotta say that makes the return a bit more noteworthy.

Didn't the greatest GM to ever bless the NHL with his presence acquire 4 goalies during last summer?

I do agree with this, this way they just get it over with. It also lets vets know that if they do sign with the team they will get their full contract.

Even though the agents don't like dealing with KD, he's been honoring players wishes, of being bought out, traded or sending AA down so he can continue to collect his full paycheck.

Heck of a job by KD. Now get rid of Brodie and Mrazek before next season and go get two NHL forwards. I’d also like to see two vets on the backend as #6 and #7 dmen, with Murphy being one of them.

NHL contracts are fully guaranteed. They would get the full paycheck in any case unless the player agrees to have his contract terminated (a la Saad).

The "agents don't like KD" report wasn't near a complete poll, and he didn't even rank last. He received a few votes as the "worst". Why don't people ever read past the headlines?
