Saw some rumors that Mrazek is the one the Hawks are looking to move. Another note I saw, it's been 3 year since a Blackhawk goalie made 40+ saves and allowed 1 goal or less.

Do you see it happening before the deadline? Just wondering how injured he still is. And they can't retain, so that means either another team brokers or they have to take a contract back.

Yeah, I expect Mraz is here until summer.

A Sportsnet rumour has Donato going to Ottawa for a second.
- paulr

They only have $850,000 in cap space. Unless they make another move, not happening. Not worth a 2nd round pick from them (and other than Yekemchuk, not sure there is anyone in their system I would want).

Honestly whatever, it's just so nice to not have the boat anchor here anymore.

If a deal comes up that works for us great, if not great. If they don't trade Donato i wouldn't be opposed to resigning him.

Well I don't know. The rumor I think was from Frank Seravalli. I would think the Hawks are exploring if he can be moved before the TDL, but probably going to come down to the market and if there is a deal worth it. I could see a team that wants more goaltender depth sending Chicago some salary in exchange for Mrazek. Assuming it's something digestible (expiring contract) or something that will be short term, only one more year left for a reasonable amount.

Blackhawks prospect Ryan Greene is grateful he decided to return for his junior year at BU. After it ends, he's ready to turn pro.

Which teams are actually looking for a goalie at this point? The only thing I can think of is the Oilers and taking Skinner off their hands since he is getting around 12 minutes per night these days. Who else would be deranged enough to take Mrazek at this point.

Could you imagine if they all came out and called him a pud and got outwardly mad at Zito?

I've really liked his game this year. Solid all over the ice and has good vision. Another strong skater too.

Ottawa or whomever they trade with, I could see KD try to swing a deal to get a 1st for 2027. He is doing well as spreading out the picks and probably will keep trying to keep the train coming in with picks in round 1. Maybe even a deal where we send one of our 2nds in 2026 to trade up to get a 1st.

You know if Florida wins another SC then this deal is worth it for them. Personally i think he makes to many unforced errors to win even regular NHL games, but that might change now that he's wearing a Panthers uniform.

The writer and I feel the same way about this trade, i still have a smile on my face.

And when i was watching the first period last Knight and seeing that kid stop all those shots the smile grew bigger, hahaha

If you’re able watch the Brantford London game tomorrow. Hunter will have guys all over Lardis, running him during play and after the whistle scrums to see if he can get Lardis off his game. Lardis has run into this before but London will be far more intense. In the previous meeting on October 26 Lardis was held from scoring. My one concern about Lardis is how he’ll stand up to very physical play and intimidation.

I see KK ending up like Soup Campbell, but it will take time. Hopefully by the time he's 25.
- rpeters01

I don't think you're too far off. You'll see him tomorrow when OTT invades but I see KK developing into a kind of Tomas Chabot. Good size, ++ skater and a legit 2nd pairing, 2nd PP unit Dman. ........ And I do think it'll take until he's 25 to develop into that kinda player.

If Chicago can land Schaefer it’s extremely likely one or two of their defensive prospects will be moved to try to acquire a young forward.
- paulr

Is it that easy? If you move a KK will you get equal value for him? Something equivalent of the #7 they used on him or is it like buying a new car where the value is diminished once you drive the car off the lot?

Are there examples of moving a blue chipper and getting equal value back?

Like many, if not most, I have Schaefer as the best prospect in the field and would have no problem drafting him but as I posted months ago I do believe the Hawks passing on Buuim for Levshunov they will opt for Misa or even Martone over Schaeffer. ....... I have Schaeffer and Buuim damn near even and the Hawks passed on Buuim. I see both as difference makers.

Thanks for the heads up on this tilt. Must see tv..... Like you, and most, I wonder how a guy like Lardis will stand up to legal and illegal contact but like a Guentzal type he's a quick darter who zips in and out of danger areas.

These kinds are harder to body than a Kane type where although slippery they are not waterbug quick.

I don’t think it’s about trying to get similar or better value, it’s about improving the team. If KD has to overpay to improve the team I think he has to do it.

And the Hawk players voiced their thoughts about Jones on the ice by beating the previous 8-1-1 Ducks and playoff bound Kings. .......... It's a good thing when everyone is happy, no?

Agreed. Improving is what matters but if they move a KK I don't expect equal value back. .... If Sheaffer ends up a Hawk they are a better squad but will be better as well if they end up with Misa, Hagens or Martone.

Another thing I wonder about drafting Schaeffer. If he and Lev hit their ceilings combined with being the 1st and/or 2nd overall picks in 5-6 yrs can you pay, allocate cap money, to 2 Dmen making 15-16-17 mil per? Can you pay a Dman who is not running the #1 unit PP 16 mil and have enough to round out a forward group that can win a cup?

Curious if KD and Crew have calculated that whether or not I'm wrong on this?

We’ll see if the trend continues but this season at least, the times he was out of the lineup, the team just overall looked better (to me anyway).

If they can make it three in a row tonite, it will mark just their second such streak for this season but both will have been achieved without Jones.

The other time they did it in Dec, they were playing some decent hockey, then Seth came back and they went on a 5 game losing streak.
