Yeah, but with their cap space, why wouldn’t they match? If you’re going to offer sheet someone, it pretty much has to be a cap strapped team, and with the cap going up, that will be more challenging for a bit. Didn’t mean to rain on the parade, but unfortunately that’s what I see.
- Angotti

My point to Scott was that an offer sheet is the only chance Chicago has of getting McTavish, there is almost no chance they’re trading him. McTavish is Verbeek’s kind of player, he ain’t going nowhere.

I've seen enough of OTT this yr to know Giroux can still play. On a line with Stutzle and Tkachuk they are dangerous. Stutzle is a favorite of mine to watch. Reichel type explosin but this guy can finish and has figured it out as the puck follows this kid..

If he wasn't in the OTT market he'd be mentioned with the best players. ..... And Dman Chabot has taken a step. Turning into the solid player who can skate with skill in his hands many thought he would.. I see a lotta Chabot in KK. Very similar styles, size and skating.

Yep, MacTavish is not going anywhere and he shouldn't. Kid has everything needed to be a difference maker.

With all that’s going on, with many Canadians booing the US anthem, I’m surprised and happy Chicago fans aren’t reciprocating. That said I hope our fans in Canada stop it.

Thing about trading Donato is he's a dude who never takes a short cut, never takes anything for granted, motor the same every game and unlike guys like Foligno who are good mates the scores some.

Add he slides into any line and can play with anyone's style he's a guy who will be missed in lotsa ways.

Bamford has the same lineup going as last game except Soderblom gets the call.. Knight coming in is fantastic but I think it's great for Soderblom too. He's gonna go head to head every day competing with Knight for starts. If Soderblom has more in him right now competing against Knight will bring it out.

Sorensen is making the right move here. Soderblom deserves the right to compete with Knight for starts. Was a great mate last yr when he stunk out loud, went to work over the summer and came back the most improved hockey player I may have ever seen...... Love to see him get pushed cuz this guy has something different to come back from last yr without PTSD.

Let em compete for starts.

Dach replaces Slaggert on the top line. Slaggert playing with AA and Bert.

Glad they did not either .Being Canadian, I agree we should not be booing the anthem .Trump should not be disrespecting our county ,by calling our Prime Minister a governor of 51st state . We as Proud Canadians should not lower ourselves to trump level .

It's more about moving Mrazek. This is why I'm not any sort of GM.

I think you're making the 3 goalies into a bigger problem than it is.

I’m really liking Del Mastro’s game. He’s smart he makes some really good plays. His skating isn’t near as bad as some have suggested, he skates like a big man, it appears he isn’t putting effort into his stride but I think it’s because his stride is so long. The one thing I wish is he’d be more physical.

Can't wait till they launch AA, turning it over in his own end can't pass the puck.

What has he proven?

Marner has had a 97 and 99 pt season and is one of the better defensive forwards in the league. Rantanen has two 100pt and a 92 pt season and is also a better defensive forward.

Sure, they'll bank on Bedard's potential - which I still think is very high, but I really don't think his next contract is going to be $14-15M per year.

- Chunk

Both those players have always had "more team" around them than Bedard.

Giroux also had one of the top FO% in the league. Bump Frank to wing for now. Bert baited Tkachuk easily and he took it hook line and sinker right in front of me. Tkachuk is the goods nonetheless and would trade whatever they want not named Bedard for him.

Why is Tkachuk taking shots from the blue line, as a coach i wouldn't like that

I heard an interesting conversation on NHL Radio over the weekend, that the cap going up significantly is going to alter what the cap was put in for - parity. Some teams (Toronto obviously, Rangers, etc.) will always spend to the cap, but some markets that do not have the revenue stream will not be able to afford to spend to the cap and have a internal salary cap that is lower than the max.

With current exchange rates, puts the Canadian teams at a financial disadvantage.

- LAHawk

That will be fixed with the 25% tariff signing Canadian hockey players.

Then they thank us by turning around and offer sheeting Bedard.

The kid line is really poop at defensive responsibility and taking the safe/easy play out of the zone.

He’s another guy who’s really playing well. He’s willing to hit anything . Kaiser, DelMastro, Vlasic, Crevier, Allan, Rinzel, KK, Levshunov …. How does KD pick the top six?

Probably whatever gives him the best blend of talent? Definitely a nice problem to have. Seems that the Hawks finally figured out how to develop defensemen.

This is one of those games where it seems to me the Blackhawks are a second to late almost everywhere on the ice.

It's amazing what a difference a split second makes.

So? MacKinnon was on a poop team, was good but not great, and got a lower 2nd contract even though he was 1OA and highly regarded. Especially if he keeps playing like this defensively. Likely just a young kid learning to play a full NHL season, but he's barely engaged in the play at this point.
