Rumour has it Matthews, Marner and Nylander have the Florida flu and will be out of the lineup until July.

special teams is a valued point, but overall....while they may be in more games the results are the same. Results are all that matter. Not into moral victories. If you are scheduled to pick 2nd again, who cares...30 teams were better than you.

That's my issue. They need to start picking in the bottom part of the top 10 or early 10s....then we have improvement.

With the points bread made I think the Hawks are getting better. Goaltending is set, defense is pretty good. They need to bolster the forwards. I expect them to challenge for a playoff spot next year.

If the next season of "Every Shift" comes out and you hear the coaches and FO asking "where are the goals going to come from" then the offseason was a failure. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt until then.

Joking aside the Panthers aren’t going to be fun to play.

A scribe on ESPN (I know, ESPN) had a column saying she thought, with all the youth starting to matriculate to the NHL, the Knight move and a couple more shrewd ones, things could come together for the Hawks in a hurry.

Shoot, they weren’t fun to play when I was there for the Hawks game, it was men against boys.

From what I'm reading, the Weber contract is actually a pretty smart move. If the Hawks sign a couple higher end players and get past the cap floor, they can just put him on LTIR.

If not, they can leave him on regular IR and not have to sign any bloated contracts to fossils just to get over the floor. Not a bad strategy move at all.

Yep, it's flexibility to go either way. Pretty good option to have.

Davidson took on weber's cap hit.....100% to get to the floor. NOt a good sign for the few of us hoping to not watch another lottery team next year.
- SteveRain

Weber's actual salary is $1 mil for this year (which is more than 1/2 paid) and $1 mil for next year.
Soderstrom has 36 points in 47 games in the SHL (highest level league in Sweden)

How are you feeling today if you are a Detroit fan? You added a decent 4th liner and now have three goalies (two locked in for next year). I get that they are on the outside looking in at a PO spot right now, but this move doesn't really help in any way at all does it?

Forget that. He's signing with the Hawks for 2X$5M full NMC in the summer.

I am trying to research but have not come across a trade to assure reaching the cap floor at the previous seasons TDL. Does anyone know of one?

I guesss Jones retainage, Broissart probable LTIR, and Brodie buyout or cap hit in Rockford doesn't do it next year.

I hope the Hawks don't sign Boeser. Yes he is a sniper, but there is a reason he is a trade rumor every season, and that is his lack of defense. Hope they can sign Sam Bennett though. Would look nice on Bedard's wing.

Don’t you dare look cockeyed at Stevie Y ok pal!

Yeah, kind of underwhelming. Wondering if they think Mrazek is a better option to back up Talbot than Lyon. They are right there for a playoff spot. I’m split on weather I want to see them get in and swept or just miss making it.🤔

My guess is that Soderstrom could come over for one year to fill in at ROC, if they need a RD for a year. Might be able to fill in for CHI if there are injuries. Doubt there is anything long term there, but he does seem to have some decent offense.

Raty looks like org depth, think he might not get a RFA tender this summer. Would rather keep Guttman based on just looking at stats.

I like this move a lot cuz of Soderstrom. Kid was playing pro in the SHL his draft yr and went 11th overall! Hlinka and WJC kid, 6ft tall, right shot. 24 yrs old and played 170 AHL games, 126 in the SHL and 53 in the NHL.

Waiting to read some reporting but this guy has a very nice EP page.. And reading it I see a guy who comes to camp and pushes Allen, Crevier, Kaiser and maybe even Del Mastro to the side...... Lotta pedigree, great resume.

He would have been last night. The Wings have a couple of defensemen in the pipeline plus Danielson up front, not sure what else they have coming up, but if not more than that, ouch!

Jake Walman was traded with a 2nd by Detroit to San Jose for future considerations last summer. He was traded by San Jose to the Oilers for a 1st yesterday.

Considering he's a righty, I think that's more the reason he was included. Closer to NHL ready (at least some games) and RH.
