Celebrini with OT winner bs Detroit
P Kane looks to be getting TOI and shots but he isn’t scoring much. Wondering what is up with Kane not producing points - jhawk59
Shooting 8.6% doesn't help. The team is also in the bottom 10 in terms of goals per game so doesn't help a passer if the rest of the group isn't finishing either. |

Yes but also no. I think they would like Kaiser and Vlasic, maybe Murphy in the right situation but this blue line cannot push the puck forward. And in the playoffs especially you need one special defender who can push the play and another one that can keep the puck moving forward. (I would be that the Leafs struggle in the playoffs again because this problem has not been solved)
Especially without Jones - the Hawks don't have that at the moment and that is part of the forward problem. It makes it much easier to defend them.
I think with Jones out they should give a few games to Arty and Korch just to hit them over the head and remind them what they are working towards. Seems like Nazar has earned a call up at this point so not sure why they are sitting on their hands there. - fattybeef
I knew I would get push back on pushing the puck forward. You are correct, they don’t have a Reilly or Fox type, however if they had the Leafs and Rangers forwards some of the Hawks dmen would generate some offense, granted not elite offense. |

The Wings are a one line team, they load up their first line with Larkin, Dcat, and Raymond, and have Kane with Copp and Compher, no bueno. |

Regardless of line mates, having a feeling that Bedard will have a much better game tonight.
Let's see.
Hopefully he'll pull a Williams for this one with multi-points. |

Not even a big deal let alone fireable offense. You think Q used to explain everything... - rpeters01
The part about not knowing or understanding his player was the biggest issue. Any from what I read, Q was pretty good at communicating with players, especially veterans. Never heard Q say he needed to get to know one of his players.

I don't disagree with you, i think many playoff teams would like our dmen. I also think this debate about defenseman pushing the puck is a bit of what came first the chicken or the egg. Our forwards suck in transition, how many times have we had a break away or 2 on 1 for not. I've seen this so many times before when the puck just went go into the back of the net. For now it sucks but it'll get better. The only tandem that worked well on 2 on 1s or 2 on 2s were Reichel and Smith. Glad they are back together hopefully they can get back to being dangerous. |

Curious to see the Bedard, Di ckinson line. This will be good no pressure playing Center for the kid and will be with one of the faster centers on this team. |

Arvid Soderblom is working in the starter’s net this morning.
Drew Commesso was called up, which indicates Petr Mrazek won’t be available tonight vs. Anaheim. #Blackhawks

Good chance for Arvid to show his start to the season wasn't a fluke.
If he can get 2-3 starts in a row here and keep his composure that would put the Blackhawks in a nice spot.
Looks like the injury bug has started. First Martinez, then Jones and now Mrazek ... Yikes! |

Several teams need better goaltending- Avalanche, Bruins (hello Swayman), Canadians, Penguins.
Not injured but being moved? The Jones injury did catch us all by surprise though. |

Most of the free agents this year are going to make historic money.
Rantanen will get around 13.5 million.
Marner will be in the 12-13 range.
Ehlers probably gets 9-10.
Boeser probably gets close to 10.
Bennett probably gets a decent raise. - fattybeef
Judging by the economy and slowing inflation, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the cap has another of those years where it goes up much less than we expect.

Bedard is slow and plays slow. Great hands. Great shot. Lost in his own zone. Not getting any better in year 2. For him to succeed in the NHL he is going to need fast wingers who create chaos in the offensive zone so Bedard can take advantage of turnovers and broken plays. TT and Bertuzzi are not very fast and have not been able to help him.
As much as I cannot stand the way Richardson coaches, talks about hockey, and his lifeless bench presence, Hall has done nothing since he has been here and knows he's not producing. Hall should have kept his mouth shut and stayed out of the press. Veteran leader 101. I don't think he turns into a 1st rounder at the deadline. Davidson should move him now and set the tone for the future.
8 of the top 10 scorers in the NHL right now are high first round picks. Only Karpisov and Kucherov weren't picked high. The silver lining here is June of 25 and June of 26 where the Hawks will be picking top 3 again and in a few years, the team will contend. - stevefrmglencoe
In other words, we're getting close now to a 5 year plan. If so, that would be better than Buffalo and Detroit. |

Easiest way to get a Blackhawks turnover? Give them a breakaway.

Until the playoffs when it gets tighter and we female dog about Bedard and whomever else not being able to produce.
But you are right in that is a separate discussion and better forwards would definitely help alleviate some of the current pain.
On a high note Tab posted some good stuff from Elite prospects on Nazar, Korch and Levshunov. It sounds pretty encouraging, specifically Korch:
Since the start of the season, Korchinski has made impressive plays at the offensive blue line, but it’s his work on breakouts that has truly stood out. Absorbing pressure and protecting the puck, he has been finding middle outlets on breakouts, jump-starting his team’s offence. If he can consistently execute these kinds of pressured, controlled plays, he will reduce his time spent in the defensive zone and avoid playing to his weaknesses. |

Good post, Steve. Agree with this wholeheartedly.
Hall has speed but his skills have diminished significantly. He just about gets through a great move but then, I can't count how many times, he gives the puck away or has a pass deflected.
Reichel does have speed and he's playing less like Sikura this year. He's one of the first forwards back and he's become adept at taking the puck away in the neutral zone...
AA has speed and he just skates around and maybe once a game he'll drive to the net and miss on a chance.
As a stopgap until we have more talent, put one of these speedy players with Bedard? |

Got this from PHR. I’d be okay with Soderblom and Broissoit going forward.
Charlie Roumeliotis of WGN Radio 720 relays, indicating that Petr Mrázek likely isn’t available for a yet-to-be-disclosed reason. |

Thanks for the recap. So basically the same as the big club, good young defensemen and not so talented forwards other than Nazar, and he was out. I Know that things can change, however Boisvert, Moore, Nazar, Vanacker, and their 2025 pick could be the only possibilities to play top six, need at least two to hit. With that said they need to package Toronto’s pick with whomever(s) and pick up a good young forward, plus add a genuine top six FA. - Angotti
I think you could definitely include Lardis in that group of potential top 6. Maybe Kantserov and maybe there is an outside shot with Thompson/James who are in NCAA. They might not rise about 3rd line talent, but stranger things have definitely happened. |
