The one guy I’d hate to see go is Kaiser. While there certainly some holes in his game I don’t think they’re anything that can’t be corrected. I think he’s one of the most competitive players on the team. He plays well beyond his size, he’s fearless and he gets himself into every puck battle. That said most of the Hawk defensemen have allot of upside so I’m sure the selection and elimination process will be extremely difficult.

Packaging two defensive prospects for a Forward/Center l don't think works. We'll have to include some kind of Forward as well.
- rpeters01

The article just mentions that one or both could be used in trades, nothing about both for a forward.

Draft Misa at 2 and Spence with Toronto's pick. If not use in a trade. Solve two issues center and big power forward that plays with nasty to his game. Just Mt opinion
- Scott1977

What the heck happened to Spence? He was mentioned in the top ten towards the beginning of the season, no?

If the Hocks win the lottery this year and pick #1, does that mean next year they wouldn't be allowed to pick 1st unless they finished dead last?

Some good info on Knight, interesting speculation of maybe trading Crevier and Kaiser for quality player?

We'll see

- BetweenTheDots

Was looking yesterday and if I understood it correctly, only Kaiser is not waiver exempt among the young guys for 2025-26 (Crevier not enough NHL games yet). Someone correct me if I have it wrong.

So they could put most everyone on the Rockford shuttle next year, but then would have to make some decisions the following summer. Of course if a good trade comes along.....

Was wondering about this also, he seemed to be consensus about #8 or so early in the year. Central Scouting put him at #14 NA in the mid-term rankings. He had a bit of a scoring slump for a few games but has been hotter recently:

https://nhlentrydraft.com...-eligible-stars-march-10/

About same scoring pace as last year:

https://www.eliteprospect...yer/617224/malcolm-spence

If G Ravensbergen is off the board since CHI has Knight now, Spence would be my favorite at the TOR pick.

100% correct as long as they are not the worst team in the league by some chance this year.

Don't know possible injury or other players rising above him. Imo he is type of player every team needs. Maybe issues with skating or discipline or something else.

Thanks. So better that they don't win it this year to have a shot at McKenna? Even though I'd prefer they be closer to a wild card than the lottery next season. And the same for the Dupont draft year as well, that year is hopefully a playoff year and not the 2nd coming of some of these teams that just can't seem to make it to the playoffs

All right - since I can't take it any more ... I'm coach ... I'm swapping 16 and 91's line assignment for the SJ game.

Everything else- seems good enough - but that one makes no sense. There I saids it - and I don't regrets it.

Per Ben Pope. I’m just the messenger.

Lineup expected to be the same as Monday:

Dach-Bedard-Richardinson
Teravainen-Donato-Mikheyev
Slaggert-Nazar-Foligno
Reichel-Veleno-Bertuzzi

Del Mastro-Murphy
Vlasic-Kaiser
Martinez-Levshunov

Colton Dach — Connor Bedard — Jason Richardinson
Teuvo Teräväinen — Ryan Donato — Ilya Mikheyev
Landon Slaggert — Frank Nazar — Nick Foligno
Lukas Reichel — Joe Veleno — Tyler Bertuzzi

Alex Vlasic — Wyatt Kaiser
Ethan Del Mastro — Connor Murphy
Alec Martinez — Artyom Levshunov

Is it just me, or does it seem like Richardinson and Foligno are like the dads that no one wants hanging around so they can actually play the way they want.

Interesting question, I guess from the west I would say maybe
Lynden Lakovic, LW, 6-4, 185, Moose Jaw
Radim Mrtka, RD, 6-6, 207 Seattle

Those guys have their size working for them. Mrtka is still adjusting after recently coming over from Czechia but is ranked high.

Still like Malcolm Spence but he seems to have dropped from the top 10 to the 20s.

- totem

This Lakovic kid reminds me of Mantha a bit. Mantha was a better skater but both dudes seem to use their size well and have offensive upside....... Great answer to that question, totem.

Dropping or not Spence has some nice traits. Probably a higher floor than ceiling due to his hands but this is a fine athlete with a really good motor/compete.... But, with the TOR pick I'd love to see a trade up if Lakovic drops past 15ish to grab him.

Gotta assume KD flush with quantity will try and parlay some of that into quality like a trade up for a Lakovic type.

I think the point of Laz's article is that people have been concerned about Bedard's production and some of the slumps that he's going through.

For sure, they are different players, but I'll counter that you really cannot dismiss the quality of the players around them. Your environment is a huge driver to your behavior. If no one else on your team is able to score or create, and that is your forte that you've lived off of your entire life, of course that is what you lean on and try to take over. Not saying it's right or wrong, but it is a huge driver of behavior

- Chunk

Yea, Laz will jump on "narratives" that bring eyes to his work. He ain't dumb hockey wise and he knows, and I think you'd agree, Bedard has improved drastically as a hockey player. ..........

Just go to Bedard's EP page and after you wipe the drool from your face you know this kid a pure scorer at every level while being up 2 yrs early. Plus Hawk fans have 1 and 3/4 season to eye test the kid and we know what he can do offensively with loads and loads of growth ahead on that account.

We know, Laz knows, progress in this kid's game comes without the puck and he's improved demonstrably this yr. Love that the kid has realized that and as is his way he jumps into things with two feet.

great to read MacKinnon's comments though.

Getting ready for the Hawk's tilt I have CHSN on. They have Seravelli in studio!! But they're showing clips of the Hawk's video blog with them working with Artie. My word can this big kid skate and handle the puck.

With the 1st unit PP struggling it's cover for Sorensen to move Lev to PP 1 and IMO this wouldn't bother Vlasic in the least. In fact I think Vlasic would be relieved as he just isn't compfortable running a PP..... He never has going back to jrs even though he's reasonably skilled and of course can skate.

Good chance Artie in at PP1 tonight.

Frondell could go very early like Sennecke did last year. McQueen could fall a ways like Eiserman.
- Assman22

Another great answer, Assman. That McQueen kid is a beast. Huge, a legit 6ft 5in, can really skate and his hands are quick and soft. He just knocks people away from himself and the puck.

No, he won't do that at the NHL level but he will play a power game in the Bigs and has the skills to score.

Out last yr with a bad back and missed 40ish games with the same problem this yr. Scary and he comes with big risk and big upside.

Paul, you don't have to see Kaiser for long at all and you say, he gets it. Kid gets it and has since he came up to the USHL for 10ish games after he finished his senior yr in MN high school.

Yea, he gets the compete and effort part, works to be a better skater and his puck skills but he gets in that he uses his shorter stature to his advantage. Kid finds ways to get his head in your arm pit gaining leverage to win pucks/positioning.

A hungry player who's IQ allows him to get it. ......... Who knows how had Crevier taking the jump he did this yr or Del Mastro taking NHL shifts as well as he has or even how well Nolan Allen did in his look see not looking outa place.

Great problems to have and count me in the camp that hoped Kaiser is a Hawk when the dust settles.
