The Mik may be our best all around player this season. - rpeters01
Certainly playing better under Ders system. Any idea as to why Richardinson is playing wing since his return? Didn't see any news about it |

Anybody noticed Kane is now in striking distance of a point per game? Last I saw he's at 45 in 55 games. - rpeters01
Five points last game against Buffalo certainly helps that. ADB had 4 in the same game. |

Believe I read that the reason was two-fold. First was giving Bedard some defensive help against COL. Second was that they didn't want to break up the Donato line that's been playing so well. Dach isn't great, but on the line with Bedard and Nazar he's serviceable. No idea why they didn't go with Slaggert-D!ckinson-Foligno for last night's game to start. 16 just looks so out of place in the top six. He's not bad per se , but it just screws up the line dynamics when they ask him to play an offensive game. |

It was for Col game you’re 100% right. It appears the Bedard development plan is simply wait until other young guys arrive. In the interim we have no plan and will just throw him on the ice with whoever the magic 8 ball tells us. |

Chunk, you're my RKF guy. I know you watch em a lot and watch em closely. Love reading Lev played a more structured game than I thought. ......... This is eons too early but in my pickled mind I've moved Artie into my have no real questions about him in my mind after only 2 NHL games.
You never know, and still don't, about Artie but this kid is exceeding my expectations by a bunch. He has all the tools needed to be a damn fine player. Only question is how good. - Mr Ricochet
Just me or are other excited about his passing ability. So nice to see a guy make tape to tape passes repeatedly.
I can’t figure out who he reminds me of… Peitrangelo maybe but Lev is a better skater.
Brent Burns but plays better D? That would be a hell of a nice ceiling.

There are still plenty of questions about Arty. Save for some initial "getting used to it in the NHL" moments, he's looking really natural out there. They need to drill into his head that if he has an open opportunity to shoot - just do it. He'll just create so many rebound chances.
Like with most kids, the consistency is going to be the biggest issue. Making sure that he uses his partner effectively is another area that I think he needs to clean up.
If you get the chance to watch next game, key on how effectively he kills plays at the blue line. That's where I think he's actually really underrated. I think everyone focuses so much on his offense and kind of expect sporadic defense, that they are almost surprised when he makes a good play defensively. If you actually pay attention, he makes a ton of those plays each game. He's got such an efficient skating stride that he covers a ton of ground without looking like he's trying. |

Chin up 2241. I would be amazed if there wasn't a serious influx in NHL talent this offseason. I think KD picks up two notable forwards. Add to that, Nazar and Slaggert getting to their second years, a new coach who can actually handle the NHL and there should be some serious growth.
I'm most nervous about the coaching hire.
Slightly off topic, but I was worried about Kaiser after he got sent down again. If he can find a consistent baseline near what he did last night, he'll be a really nice piece. |

I dont get it - glennjpawlak22
Just saying don't try to fit him into the mold of another player.
I have this huge pet peeve whenever people say things like "it's too early to sign X player". He's the Hossa signing when you have all the other players in place, or "the Hawks need to find their Keith/Seabrook/Hjalmarsson. No one can recreate history. If the Hawks are able to win another cup, it's going to be different than the 2010-15 teams. They might play a heavier overall game. They might rely more on the back end than the forwards. They will obviously have a different coach, so who knows. Just let these guys be who they are and enjoy it. |

If Martinez wants to stay in Chicago (or doesn't decide to retire), I would bring him back on a one year deal to be a 7th D, veteran presence. Currently the only true vet you will have next year (figuring Brodie is not part of the Hawks roster) is Murphy. Can't rely upon him playing a full season (or half of until the TDL) without being injured at some point.
Of course you can't rely upon Martinez staying healthy either. - LAHawk
That is the problem, but I wouldn’t hate if they did that. |

Don’t blame Bedard. He’s dragging around Dach and Richardinson. Bottom 6 guys. I would be insulted if I was Bedard. Could you imagine Toews or Kane having to drag those two around on a line? Really any player that’s close to a PPG guy having to do what Bedard has to deal with.
I can’t think of one in the NHL that has worse linemates. Sure there might be but not off the top of my head.
At least Lev is up and I can enjoy watching him. - bhawks2241
Nazar’s been pretty fun to watch and Knight for that matter too. |

As far as last night… reason #187 why Sorensen should not be back as Hawks coach. Can’t believe I stayed up for those line combinations. I’m with Chunk, D!ckinson, Foligno, and Maroon can move on. Both Foligno and D!ckinson should be happy, they’ve been overpaid on this last contract. I know it helped them reach the cap floor, but KD needs to do better in free agency going forward. Most NHL players would score 20 goals if given the opportunity that D!ckinson was given last year. Rant over. - Angotti
IDK, I was told D1ckinson is a 2C on a contender.
I tried to tell you guys he is not very good. Guy loses every board battle. Was shocked he dropped the gloves and chucked em, TBH. |

He is going to need some time to mature physically and get better in his 2 way game but he is fast, quick, has a NHL shot/ release and has a real feel for the soft spots in coverage.
The question is his game going to translate to being a pro. |

Anyone younger is going to want a multi-year deal, which is why I would resign Martinez for one. No need to give out multi-deal deals to veteran D men with the pipeline the Hawks have.

KD can likley trade someone like Reichel (or a pick) to a cap team that needs to cut salary and take on a D-man with a higher cap hit, but still under 37 years old. |

Seattle is one team that will take Schaefer for sure, so I’m taking Misa. If Misa needs to gain 10-15 lbs, he can stay at my house, three months should do it.
Edit- If KD can move up for another top 7 pick, I’d add Desnoyers |

Definitely. Nazar has no problem with NHL speed. I think his hands catch up. Honestly only issue I have with him. Gets going so fast the hands can’t keep up sometimes. He’s feisty though and absorbs contact very well. Even when he gets knocked down still seems to absorb most of the hit and bounces right up.
