The guys who intrigue me are two guys I’ve never actually seen play, Rinzel and Boisvert.
- paulr

Rinzel has improved greatly since he was drafted. Big, smooth and does have a bit of an edge that he flashes here and there. Good hockey IQ.

Boisvert I have watched maybe 3 times and I really can't get a handle on him. He has a NHL level shot and one timer. He is not a bad skater but it needs some refinement. He should definitely stay at UND another year, imo.

The fact he called Lardis small and wasn’t a real fast told me this guy is full of poop.
- paulr

Funny. According a couple of sites, Vanacker actually weighs less than Lardis. 170lbs to Lardis' 185.

Which is pretty much meaningless at their ages.

Elbows not calling a kid a bust before he's playing pro. That's funny.

Wow. The Brantford site has Vanacker at two inches taller (6'1") and 15 lbs lighter. Considering he's coming back from a shoulder injury as well, it's pretty impressive to see what he's been able to do this year.

KD has mentioned Rinzel playing for Chicago at the end of the season. I said he moved like Drew Doughty when I saw his high school tape.

Florida is obviously going to make the playoffs this year, but it would be ironic as hell if Jones ended up being a main reason that they missed the PO's in subsequent years.

I'm not wishing ill will on the guy, but damn, that would be some funny poop.

Edit: Had anyone actually heard that TOR was interested in him? I'd guess he wasn't interested in waiving for a Canadian team, but I never heard a peep about that.

If you lived in Toronto, you'd know that every single NHL player grew up in a house covered with Maple Leaf memorabilia and wants to play for the Laffs, so of course Jones was a possibility.

I’ve seen Rinzel play twice, maybe three times on tv this past season, he’s a load for sure. He’s a good skater with obvious size and uses it well at the college level. May need to add a few pounds this summer for pro hockey, but I like what I see. Changing focus to Levshunov, he’s a man child, guys bounce off of him, must be built like a truck.

He is better now. yeah, I think Rinzel, Moore, Greene, James and most likely Thompson all get a game or two pending how far their teams go in the NCAA tourney.
Well, aside from James cause UMD isn't making the tourney.

Au contraire - dude's working out exactly as it could have been predicted it would... happy to see that it wasn't the Hawks that made Jones crappy - turns out, he was that all along. Or that's the message from that story (probably without the admission about the Hawks).

Wondering how the Panthers are liking that leadership angle that they deceived themselves into believing the dude has.

Could be, but Bedard never seems like one lacking in confidence to shoot anything.

I listened to the CHGO guys after the VAN game and they had a really good point. The Hawks aren't good enough to make "nice" plays. Put the damn puck on net. They pass up so many opportunities to make the goalie make a save it's maddening. The guys that are effective at scoring goals are doing that right now. Donato, Mikheyev, Nazar (to an extent).

Guessing he is referring to Lardis being described as all offense and no defense. As I complain about ad nauseum, can we please let these kids actually develop before labeling them as anything (L1, bust, great, crap, whatever).

A little feel-good story for people to enjoy. I'm sure someone will quickly post a scouting report saying that he sucks, but until then, think happy thoughts:

Who knows what his ceiling will be, but no one could complain about his development pace at this point.

You might say that his development has been the best of all the draft picks of the rebuild.

Also gives you some faith in the scouting dept as he was considered a slight reach where he was picked. Seems like they went for the boom or bust pick there and this one looks like it has some potential to bear fruit.

Speaking of, was reading something in Bleacher Nation today about Soderstrom who was the potential asset who came over for the Hawks taking on a year of Shea Weber’s dead horse deal.

If he comes in and assumes a 4/5 or even 5/6 role and does it well, that kind of nothing trade could be a hit.

Something like that. Their passing is so bad. Outside of Lev their D has been an absolute dumpster fire.

I get Donato hustles and has scored some goals but he is just not a good NHL forward. I see him out of position in the D zone all the time. And a whole lot of flyby stick checks.

How many cross ice one timers they gonna give up tonight 8?

Rinzel is going to be good. Not sure if Moore has the offensive skill to be a top 6 difference maker. Lots of nice traits though. Another pick hound.

Donato is what he is, a GM should never overpay for a career year.
Edit - Moore can replace Donato, use that money to overpay for real talent.

Isn't it time we brought in someone to teach defense or does KFC just want to lose for another season! Is Pierre Pilote still alive?
